About No.131 The Promenade
Classic on the outside, contemporary British on the inside, located in the heart of Cheltenham. Traditional classics & modern European dishes showcase the best seasonal ingredients in the restaurant. All ingredients are sourced and gathered locally wherever possible but always from British lands and shores.
The waiters didn’t know the gluten free options and there weren’t enough heaters but the food was delicious
We had another lovely meal at your restaurant, the food was excellent (we both had a vegetarian option, risotto was to die for), excellent service and everything was perfect, we both can't wait to be back.
The service was terrible, there was one nice young waiter and the rest were rude! One Meal came out stone cold and I was very disappointed with my visit. The food was over priced. Although the drinks were delicious, I would not rush to eat here again!!!!
Truth be told. Service was terrible
I think 131 are trying to put us on a diet post lockdown....small main course size for the money. Overall, rather overpriced for what was provided. Location is the winner, but won’t be rushing back just for that.
Overall we had a enjoyable lunch, the only negative we had was the length of time from sitting down to receiving our food which was about an hour.
Could not fault in any way. The outside restaurant is fabulous, spacious and warm! Looks lovely too.
First round of drinks took 30 minutes or more to come out. The two sashimi sharing platters took over and hour to come out meaning we didn’t even have time to order pudding as the kitchen had closed by the time we got ours mains. My sea bass was good but some of my friends said there steaks were cold and the miso butter hadn’t even melted on the top. Overall an expensive but disappointing evening unfortunately.
The starters options were poor, ended up having a few bits of raw fish for £18 and the menu was unclear as I would’ve never ordered that if I knew what it was!! However my main course and pudding was really nice. Although, the service was really poor and not once during my meal I was asked how my food was or whether I wanted any more drinks, as well as having to ask for the bill multiple times and disjointed service. To top it off, I was handed with a £16 service charge at the end which seemed extortionate for the lack of service I received. The atmosphere was lovely but next time I would come for drinks at gin and juice rather than to eat as it was underwhelming.
Will book again, you have definitely got better over the last couple of years.
The salads were delicious. It was wonderful to be out again. In order to hear the staff better it would be great if all staff wore the clear visor. We will be back. Thank you.
The service and food we received at 131 was great. Thanks so much for making birthday celebration so good!
Absolutely divine being back at the 131!! From the very warm welcome by Felipè and Yvonna to the the delightful service from Michaela and Gabor..and all the staff in between , it was like a lovely holiday!! Nothing was too much trouble and , though we waited a little while for the food to arrive , it was worth every minute once it adorned our table ...qood to look at and even lovelier to eat !! Our favourite place in Cheltenham and we always feel so lucky to live near such a special place to visit and to dine at and enjoy such a welcoming and buzzy atmosphere !! Gosh ..how we have missed you 131 !!
Great place. Amazing staff. Nice food. Thank you & see you soon
Drinks were great! I would definitely come again for drinks. However service was really slow, took over an hour for food to arrive, also took around 30-40 minutes for our drink to arrive. I had the sea bass which was bland, not really any flavour, I was expecting a lot better when paying £19.50. Also took around 20 minutes to pay our bill. I was surprised at the slow service as we had a table at 8:30pm on a Monday evening.
Lovely ambience and was lovely and warm with heaters..Looked very impressive. Shame that my partners steak was chewy, cocktails average and all very expensive for what it was.
Found the food lacking flavour. Seems like they're cooking for Instagram rather than actually having tastey food. Dressing on beef salad tasted like just soy sauce and it was swimming. Lamb had a teaspoon of celeriac (which tasted bland) and 3 baby carrots to go with 3 loin chops (cooked well but could have done with seasoning/herbs as quite bland). Rice with duck had the flavour/consistency of a microwave packet rice. Mental that so much effort goes into the operation and it is an impressive place but they're clearly not getting the right standard of chefs or training in the kitchen. Shame as it could be incredible with more focus in the kitchen.
Our table was booked for 6.30, we were told it was booked for 6pm & in this review form, you say it was booked for 6.15pm. Very confusing!!! Our time 6.30 was correct as we had the email to prove it & then they tried to fob us off with a awlful table which we didn’t accept.
Regularly visit 131, atmosphere is always great, and the food and drinks are always amazing. Was disappointed with the service this time round, and felt like the waitress was in a rush to disappear each time she came over, and wasn’t very attentive/ friendly. This is a shame as normally have a great experience. Lunch was amazing though so will definitely come back.
Super late lunch - shame there aren’t tables in the sun but I absolutely understand the need for it to covered at the moment given the British weather.
What an absolutely wonderful treat to finally get out to eat lunch after such a long time in lockdown. The beautifully decorated terrace, delicious food and tasty cocktails coupled with springtime sunshine was divine. Already booked to come again next week.
Tuna tartare n duck were very good along with chicory salad
Disappointed with table which was reserved with special request several weeks before. Given a table for 4 when there was only 2 of us. Not prepared and no seat cushions, took seat cushions from another table. Menu selection was disappointing and mostly raw choices, like tartare , sushi, etc. Meals we chose were quite tasty but we had no choice of starter for our tastes. Wine very expensive even by the glass.
Really enjoyed covered outside eating ambiance
