About No.131 The Promenade
Classic on the outside, contemporary British on the inside, located in the heart of Cheltenham. Traditional classics & modern European dishes showcase the best seasonal ingredients in the restaurant. All ingredients are sourced and gathered locally wherever possible but always from British lands and shores.
Room 29 was so very hot, even in mid January and air con was required.
Lovely place, but really quite pricey. Bottle of sparkling water was served at room temperature and had to be sent back for a chilled bottle. Partridge was tougher than expected, with not much accessible meat. Scallops were gorgeous, as was the sticky toffee pudding.
I had the best experience planning a private dinner for my company Arvato on 16th Jan. All the staff were amazing, went above and beyond. Daniel who looked after our table was exceptional and displayed excellent customer service to a tee, I am looking forward to my next visit down to No 131 already. Thank you so much I am so grateful. Fabulous Sunday lunch will be returning soon
Great roast on a Sunday with family. We keep going back to 131 as it is of a consistently high quality.
Our Anniversary meal was amazing, staff were genuinely friendly and attentive. Will be back again!
Very tasty food - cannot fault that! However, warm sparkling water had to be changed to chilled. Tables far too close together, ladies toilets were left messy/overflowing hand towels left the whole experience a little disappointing. Not what I expected from a classy looking venue 😕
Best chateaubriand in town
An excellent surprise in Cheltenham! Very good restaurant. We will come back
Lovely food and venue
We came to No 131 to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday with family. I'd seen good things on social media at No 131 and had heard positive feedback from my friends too! From the booking of our party right through to paying of the bill, the service was sleek and exemplary. We were able to order in advance online - this was very user-friendly and easy to use. We spoke a few times prior to our visit and our requests and queries were always dealt with in a very friendly and accommodating manor. I'd ask whether we could meet in Gin & Juice beforehand and again, this was arranged seeminglessly. The restaurant was beautiful … beautifully decorated, atmospheric lighting, pieces of statement of art …. all lending itself to setting the scene for our evening. The food was fabulous, as was the service. Again, our requests were dealt with swiftly by a good team of staff. We all came away from No 131 extolling its virtues. They nailed our celebrations … our evening! We would all thoroughly recommend No 131 and can't wait to go again. Thank you.
Went for afternoon tea. Despite booking a table, the food came out after an hour, and 30 after the drinks. Food was average, although the scones were fresh and very good. The drinks deal was not offered as advertised. The cakes were not freshly baked, bit they were of good quality. Given the high prices, I was expecting more
When going inside, No 131 is similar to other hotels, however, the magic comes when you walk down the narrow stone stairs to the bar. You must go and experience this yourselves …… Excellent food, service and atmosphere - one of the very best.
Excellent service, fantastic food , great value for money, all in all a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
We had a really lovely evening and the food was superb. It was very busy after the races but still the service was excellent. We will definitely be returning.
Great place, atmosphere and service
Fantastic hotel staff great bathroom well equipped bedroom very large and bed mini bar well stocked. Food very good quality.
Really great experience for brunch at 131. We had a table that was too small for the 6 of us, so I asked if there was a chance we could move. The lady checked if there was anyone in the private room and luckily for us there wasn’t so we were able to have our own dining experience. The service was great! Only downfall was the expensive Prosecco- everything else perfect!
We had a wonderful evening.
when the food finally arrived it was very nicely presented, tastey and hot. the fresh orange juice was really good, but we had to wait a long time for our tea afterwards. the overall service and ambiance were a bit lacking but this may have been because they were busy. We are not keen on service charge being automatically added to the bill
Family brunch booked well in advance for a treat on Boxing Day . Seated in a pleasant separate room overlooking the Promenade although a little chilly . Orders placed ,we were told that there were no avocados then surprisingly informed that the pancakes were also not available - I find this staggering that a restaurant of this standard could not make pancakes for three children(flour;eggs, milk ). The two omelettes were served - cheese & mushroom omelette served containing cheese with a single separate mushroom on the side ,both omelettes looked and tasted as though they had been cooked in a microwave! We were then served the side portions of sourdough toast - it was sliced uncooked wholemeal bread and buttered on one side.We pointed this out to the waitress who was very apologetic and then explained that there wasn't any sourdough toast available I actually thought that is was worthy a photo of the so called 'sourdough toast' ( available on request for hotel) The restaurant was extremely quiet so were surprised and disappointed that the that we had so many issues . I explained to the waitress that I was unhappy paying for the extra sides of toast and requested the bill , she returned after speaking to her manager and they had made a 50% reduction to the bill as a gesture of goodwill. We accepted this offer but to perfectly honest we would have preferred to have enjoyed our family brunch and paid the full amount. The only real positive about our experience was the two waitresses who were excellent and the Kedgeree . The low star ratings are reflected by the whole experience.
It wasn't our first time staying and eating in 131.We had a great New Years Eve.The food, service and ambience were fantastic. The staff are all amazing!
Having spent over £700 we were upset to be handed a gratuity bill of over £80. It was not made clear either at the time of booking or by your waitress whether this was discretionary or not ( legally this must be clear). Because it was Christmas Day and your waitress was clearly exhausted, we did not mention it at the time. While you have a lovely place , the rather rapacious approach to gratuity would make me hesitant to book again or to recommend
Nice steak. Overall the menu was both inconsistently priced and overpriced. A tomato and avocado salad for £14 as a starter seems excessive. The menus were tatty and dirty and the whole environment seemed a little tired. It’s a place with potential but lacked finesse and the waiter kept looking down my girlfriends top. Unfortunate!
Amazing evening, fabulous service and beautiful restaurant
