About No.131 The Promenade
Classic on the outside, contemporary British on the inside, located in the heart of Cheltenham. Traditional classics & modern European dishes showcase the best seasonal ingredients in the restaurant. All ingredients are sourced and gathered locally wherever possible but always from British lands and shores.
the booking process was very difficult, with issues getting through to anyone and slow responses. however the stay and visit were very good, staff were friendly and helpful.
Great Sunday night stay. Room 101 was beautiful and food and service excellent.
We had to wait in the reception hall for around ten minutes on arrival with many members of staff walking past. When we got taken to our table it took 20 minutes to get offered water and then we had to ask if we could order a drink. The drinks took a long time to come - and the G&T as in fact different to what had been ordered so had to be replaced - and we asked if we could order our food. Out of four meals there were two things unavailable - the mussels and the roast chicken. We ordered some almonds and a beer at the time of ordering our mains and these never came so we asked twice. Eventually when the mains came the almonds appeared too - we sent them back as no longer wanted them as they were meant to be before the main. When the bill came at the end of the meal we had been charged for two portions of almonds and extra beer that we didn't receive. The food was very tasty but the service was generally very poor for most of the lunch (waitress later on was good) and when spending over £200 on a meal for a family of four you would expect a much better overall experience.
The bar was too busy and people kept knocking our table which was annoying. Service was excellent by one particular lady but from others was poor and we kept asking for missing cups, strainers, cutlery which you don’t expect to have to do. I also paid a deposit for the table and this was not reflected in the bill so I had to ask for it to be deducted. We have eaten there many times and service is better downstairs.
Food was great, didn’t have to wait for our table, was given ample time not rushed through our meal at all.
Had a wonderful evening, staff were very knowledgeable and atmosphere was fantastic
Great service and great food!
Great food and service as always. A slight problem with dessert was sorted without any fuss and with very good grace. Lovely atmosphere too.
Lovely Sunday lunch. Roast beef was sublime and the service was excellent. Second weekend on the trot that we have been there and it didn't disappoint on either occasion
the music can be a little loud and not to everyone's taste
Lovely room, lovely service. Music at night was alittle loud. Food was absolutely delicious!
Great Sunday lunch in relaxing surroundings. Really couldn't fault the service or food.
I loved dinner at 131 - great food, and wine. Great if you feel like pushing the boat out and treating your significant other to a nice dinner.
The service was very poor, I waited half an hour before I was offered a drink other than water. Steak was slightly overcooked on one side. Atmosphere was lovely but it did not meet my expectations service wise.
Thank you to everyone for being so helpful and friendly, this was our second visit and will definitely be back again and will strongly recommend you to our friends
The food was good, however we felt the choice for starters wasnt great. A prawn cocktail or smoked salmon starter would be a good option.
Really enjoyable meal. Varied menu, great wine list, reasonable prices and excellent food. Nice room with plenty of space between tables and we were never rushed on what was a busy Friday night
Great. All guests were impressed.
Even though I booked for breakfast online for 10.15am on arrival my booking was not on the system? Luckily at that time of the day it was not busy and not an issue.
Service wasn’t great and the food was more expensive than soho house but no where near the quality or quantity, a company and brand I believe no.38 and no.131 are trying to aspire to. Will stick to London I think!
We had a wonderful long lazy lunch at 131 on Saturday, it was cold and drizzling with rain outside and we had the corner table near the open fire which instantly made us feel relaxed and welcome. Lovely surprise of fresh scallops and salmon on the menu as specials and veggie carbonara is a must for any pasta lover to try. Great attention to detail and the ambience was so lovely and chilled. It was quite a special lunch.
So much improved since our last visit 1 year ago that was disappointing on every front in a major way ! . Service finally good ... at last ..., food good and generous , atmosphere lovely . Please work on keeping it this way . Do not get above yourselves ... or your customers if you would like them to return
Great food, great attentive efficient and friendly service.
Perfect again, great rooms, great location, fantastic restaurant and amazing staff. Always 100% wouldn’t stay any other place in Cheltenham
Excellent service really appreciated the Prosecco for us all for our friends birthday. Great food!
