About No.131 The Promenade
Classic on the outside, contemporary British on the inside, located in the heart of Cheltenham. Traditional classics & modern European dishes showcase the best seasonal ingredients in the restaurant. All ingredients are sourced and gathered locally wherever possible but always from British lands and shores.
Blocked toilet in our room when I arrived and had to wait 2.5 hours until 5.30 p.m. before I could go in. No money deducted as unhappy with our son arguing with a bartender so the Manager, Ricardo Mimoso refused to reimburse us for the inconvenience caused - about as flexible as lead piping - will not be returning to the hotel again
Wonderful hotel and service. Happened to stay during the coronacrisis and the staff couldn't have made us feel more comfortable.
The situation at the moment in the country we thought 4 of us would have a nice Sunday dinner but we where left alone for a long time We had to get up three times to ask for service ( drinks sauces bill payment etc ) however the food was top class as normal
Well what a night what can I say ,from as soon as we arrived we were welcomed warmly , fabulous gin bar fantastic DJ we danced all night !! Dinner in the restaurant was fabulous too ! We highly recommend a night out Thankyou to all the staff for a fabulous family gathering x l
Always absolutely excellent. Consistently fabulous! My favourite place to lunch 😃
Great job Saturday night, really great steaks
Lovely meal in a relaxing setting. Thank you we will return
The staff and service were appalling. We arrived on Saturday to a pleasantly quiet restaurant for a late breakfast. We expected it to be extremely busy given the races. We sat down, had to ask to be given the menu... we were given the dinner menu and not the breakfast one. Asked for the breakfast menu to be told they were serving a reduced breakfast due to business and the races. 1. The restaurant was empty. 2. Races had finished. We both ordered two coffees, 2 croissants (and asked for butter and jam at the time of ordering) and two English breakfasts. My goodness the service was ridiculous! To say it was empty the coffees took over 15 minutes to arrive, the croissant came without butter and jam had to ask again... took another 10 minutes to find butter and then the breakfast arrived before we had finished the croissant! I’m sad to say when everything arrived it was just average. Quite sad really as the venue is stunning and looks fabulous! Really disappointed and quite annoyed as the prices are not cheap. We did get our breakfasts taken off the bill for complaining which was very much appreciated but I really cannot day I thought this was a pleasant experience
Best steak for years, cooked Blue and was perfect. Mango salad was excellent. Didnt have the choice of Champagne we wanted which was disapointing.
I cannot fault the food in anyway, the scallops I had to start were the nicest I have ever had. My husbands steak was cooked perfectly. The staff were attentive. My only negative which I did mention to the waiting staff was that we probably had the worst table in the restaurant. I understand it was cheltenham festival so I expect it to be busy however the table we were given was in the middle of what I can only describe as the walkway. This resulted in food trays being lifted over my head and me feeling like I had to lean away to let people past constantly, staff were side stepping to get between our table and someone sitting at the neighbouring table. I did mention this to the waiting staff before our food arrived, he told me that someone would come and see me as it wasn’t up to him. No one came and then our food arrived. Food and service was great and we will come back but would appreciate a nicer table next time.
Regularly visit for lunch. Love the food. Sadly booked a table on Thurs & the normal menu had been replaced by an extortionately priced race week menu. So sadly went somewhere else as we were looking for a light lunch before racing.
We had been looking forward to staying at 131 for many months & we were certainly not disappointed from the moment we arrived with friendly staff to a fantastic room & exceptional food. Certainly a place to return to. Many Thanks to Everyone!
I can imagine festival week is always a challenge but one that 131 manages very well. Inevitably service can be slightly more erratic than normal but the the smiling professionalism of the staff makes up for that. A great festival week venue and even better when the town returns to normality.
Amazing brunch pre-racing and the Rolls-Royce was such a lovely added service! Will definitely be back next year...
Fantastic venue, ate there 2 nights in a row and will block book when I am back racing next year
We changed the time of the booking a week prior, were then late on the day and added an extra three people. The staff were more than helpful at every stage of the process even though it was the middle of race week. Waiting staff were attentive and accommodating and we never felt rushed even though the table needed to be turned. A thoroughly enjoyable evening. Highly recommended
Room and style of the hotel is very nice, I’m just surprised that the hotel should really be called a night club with rooms. Don’t plan on getting to sleep before 2am as loud music is played until the early hours. This is stated on the hotel website but not on booking.com description which is who I booked through. I’m sure it’s great if that’s what you are after but I really feel an investment in some sound proofing and finishing the music at midnight would be more fair to the hotel guests. Breakfast was delicious and great decor in the breakfast and dining rooms.
Very nice spot however had to send back some food as it was cold. Staff tried best but honestly service was poor. Would I go back not so sure .
Lovely restaurant, food was delicious - no complaints!
Well done tonight 131, first night of Cheltenham festival week and we weren't disappointed. Service as we needed, un-intrusive but ready to help as needed. Food all cooked to very high standard, delicious. Wine list extensive and enjoyed our choices. Could say a bit pricey , but we knew the price point you are pitching at and given the restaurant rooms you've created pleased to pay a bit extra for a smashing grand venue. Well done, will be back over other racing weekends. Keep up the good work all
Food , service and atmosphere were perfect! We will definitely be back!
The food was good; yet not what one would expect for the price. The atmosphere was very poor and dull. I felt the service was slow and too much emphasis on being a "silver service" venue, which it isn't. I feel it needs more life an energy, it could be amazing, but at the minute, it's just ok.
Really enjoyed our recent lunch visit. Lovely friendly staff who couldn't do enough for our table and when an item of food wasn't cooked to my guests tastes they were more than happy to accommodate. On a cold day lovely to have the fire lit, great atmosphere will be back.
Quirky decor, great service and excellent afternoon tea!
