About Neil's Restaurant
Neil’s is a great place to eat in Sidmouth and is just a short walk from Sidmouth Beach and within easy reach of Beer, Lyme Regis and Exeter. Neil’s focuses on bringing the freshest Devon food, cooked in sympathetic and delicious ways to the table. Neil’s Restaurant Sidmouth has an informal design and allows you to actually see Neil at work.
Why do we change the menu daily?
I know what the days menu will be after the boats have come in and the fish landed. My goal is to use the freshest ingredients that are locally caught and so as the seasons change, so does the catch. After years of selecting ingredients I know what is the best quality and value, so each day I select the freshest and tastiest available. Knowing the fishermen and fish merchants over many years means that I know how the fish are caught and often which boat has landed it. Getting the best flavours means knowing where each ingredient comes from.
E-vouchers are available from our website. Great for those last minute gifts.
Brilliant evening with my family, food and service were great. Super fish dishes. We will be back !!! Thank you. X
Lovely evening good food and great service
As in past visits service was excellent and the food perfectly cooked. We look forward to our next meal at Neil’s.
All three courses and wine were exceptionally good and tasty The bread and butter pudding was AMAZING AND FAB-U- LUS!!! Service was also excellent
excellent food - neil knows how to cook fish better than anyone
Service was great (very attentive as not a busy night). Prices are quite steep - I’d recommend for a special occasion.
Thank you for your review. I am delighted you enjoyed your evening with us. Our menu is updated daily and as such reflect our costs. With the recent weather and proximity to Christmas, prices have been at their highest that both I and my suppliers can remember.
A very pleasant evening.
Even though there was a large Xmas party it did not effect the service that we received. Everything from start to finish was first class. If we return to Sidmouth we will book before we arrive. We also introduced them to a Latte with a good slug of Baileys. We highly recommend Neals.
Delicious food super service and great atmosphere
Delightful dining experience as usual, with exceptional seafood and dessert courses, and friendly and welcoming staff.
Exceptional service and great food.
Always a great meal
We had a lovely evening, our first visit for many years having moved away from Sidmouth, the food was excellent, and the service 1st class, thank you.
Easily our favourite restaurant when we take the long drive to Sidmouth to visit 96 year-old Nanny. She loved her lemon sole! We marvel at the way Neil runs the kitchen all by himself. Impressive!!
Good food and very good attentive service
Ate there on 16th November. The monkfish in tempura batter was delicious. Another member of the party had the sea bream which they thought was cooked beautifully. Always enjoy the food and wine at Neil's and Annie is marvellous.
Excellent food and service as usual
Amazing food Great service Thank you!!!!!
Good food, beer and wine. Service OK but a tad provincial when attempting to pay via Apple Pay and hearing that “in Britain” there is a 30£ limit for contactless payments. As if that was a British rule, as if there were any British credit card companies (both my British Airways AMEX and my Lloyds MasterCard are clearly managed by overseas businesses), and as if I hadn’t used my BA and Lloyds cards with Apple Pay for payments over a 100 pounds before. All this pompous attitude just because I was asked where I came from originally after saying that I came from Maidenhead.
A most enjoyable meal, as always. The fish you cook and provide are superb. The service, too, from Ann and her front of house team is excellent, combining friendliness & efficiency. A joy to dine with you.Thank you very much.
Really great food and attentive and friendly waiting staff low stars for atmosphere only because it wasnt a busy evening probably due to Halloween and the awful weather
Great location. The place just has a nice warm feel to it. Although it is family owned with personal touches it was also very professionally run and staffed. Would have no hesitation to return to this lovely seaside town and stay at Dukes again.
We had a perfectly cooked squid and sardines and then beautiful scallops to follow. A lovely meal
