Located in The Arches on Brighton seafront overlooking the West Pier, Murmur is a casual, all day dining restaurant by Great British Menu 2017 winner Michael Bremner.
Sister restaurant to the award-winning 64 Degrees, Murmur was opened by Michael to offer a different dining concept, serving healthy and honest food for breakfast, lunch and dinner in a stunning beachside location.
The restaurant is named Murmur from the word murmuration which is the shape that the starlings make when they flock and fly between the two piers here on the coast, with the logo representing the six arches in which the restaurant is located.
Murmur has 37 covers inside and a further 40 covers on the terrace overlooking the beach, is children friendly throughout the day and dogs are welcome on the terrace.
Superb meal and service as always!
An excellent evening: fantastic menu made it hard to choose, but South Downs chorizo and lobster tacos won for the starters. And a special of lemon sole for mains: truly excellent. Service was spot on. Noticeable how many people left via saying enthusiastic 'thanks' at the kitchen. Looking forward to a return visit for lunch on a sunny day.
Just the perfect casual but classy dining experience in Brighton. Gorgeous, fresh food, great vegetarian choice too. Would keep this little gem of a restaurant a secret if I could!
Amazing location. Fanstatic staff who seemed to take enjoyment and pride in their work. Lovely food.
Fabulous food and service. Murmur never fails to deliver. The food was perfectly cooked and they have some great wines on the list. Its the one place in Brighton that is consistently good and you can be guaranteed of a good experience. Why eat anywhere else?
A very nice lunch.
I was disappointed with your present menu. There was little choice for me and consequently I chose the lemon sole and my wife the sirloin stake, two dishes where one can get anywhere, the Regency Restaurant for example. The starters were very good but two small sardines on the sardines dish, surely another one wouldn't have broken the bank.
Fantastic location. Great to be able to sit outside with wonderful view of the beach. Delicious food, difficult to choose from attractive menu. Service is excellent, staff are attentive, friendly and very helpful
Expensive for what we received. Service was average, as was the food.
We had a lovely day, the atmosphere for us was great because it was sunny so we could sit outside, I am not sure whether it would have been as good if we were inside. The portions were slightly on the small side (chosen from specials menu) so I would recommend getting side dishes. Very pleasant experience.
We ordered a white wine only to be told later that it was not available as it had not been chilled. The atmosphere was ruined by a large table booking which was very noisy. Service was rather amateur. Based on previous visit I had strongly recommended Murmur to friends. After this meal I will be doing the opposite.
Amazing lobster and great service. We had a wonderful evening thank you.
Fantastic location, fantastic lunch. Top marks. Will be back.
Sat outside on a lovely sunny late Summer day for lunch with my daughter. Excellent service by the waiting staff, very attentive and excellent timing awareness. Delicious, fresh food and a great wine recommendation as our selected wine was not available. Would love to come back. Thank you.
Brilliant, as always.
Unfortunately I found our visit disappointing. I eat out regularly and have always enjoyed 64 degrees. We booked as a group of girls, noted on the booking 2 of us turning 40 but no one at the restaurant acknowledged this. I ordered fish which was undercooked. Staff reassured me this was the roe and everything was fine however as I removed the head blood spilled onto my plate. This has never happened to me before on other restaurants, and put our whole group off our food. It was taken away to be replaced however it was the same fish reheated. I appreciate things happen but the way this was handled by the manager was poor. He talked what had happened using words like gunk etc whilst we were trying to eat, this was unprofessional. I asked for the bill to be reduced to which the reply was maybe, it was clear he didnt want to and said he'd discuss with the chef. Eventually it was deducted yet he continued to talk at me why he was right but was giving the discount so I leave happy. Overall, this could have been handled much better, simply apologise and offer a refund if that is what you are going to do. Due to this I will not be returning, the battle of pride here was unfortunate. The waitresses were lovely, I did feel sorry for one girl who was very apologetic and embarrassed.
Succulent, sweet lobster , cooked to perfection. Cheese board was delicious. . Service by Jess was 5* .. Friendly. Knowledgeable and attentive . Topped with a stunning location , Murmur is a highly recommended dining experience
Had high expectations from readin the reviews and so I was a bit disappointing because of that. Food was ok - I ordered the cod which was a dry and lacked flavour. I wouldn't rush back but it was pleasant enough.
Could of had a greater selection of vegetarian dishes. Other than that it was great.
It was my first time at the restaurant. The food was full of flavour and interesting combinations. It was also nice to see more than one vegetarian option as a starter and main. That can often be the case at other high end restaurants. I look forward to going back again!
The staff were charming and friendly, and did not appear to mind the fact that we changed our mind (twice!) as to which table we wanted to sit at. In the end we enjoyed a delicious meal sitting outside on a beautiful barmy summer's evening. We were the last to leave the restaurant but at no time did we feel they wanted us to to! The rump of lamb was cooked to perfection. The roasted peaches were delicious and a generous portion - it would have been nice to have had more than a desert spoonful of the equally delicious ice cream, however!
Excellent as always, great wine, food and service. Perfect table on the terrace in the Brighton sunshine.
Murmur is our favourite restaurant in Brighton and we are looking forward to coming back in sept x
Brought my brother and his wife to celebrate his 70th birthday. They really enjoyed the meal.
