Located in The Arches on Brighton seafront overlooking the West Pier, Murmur is a casual, all day dining restaurant by Great British Menu 2017 winner Michael Bremner.
Sister restaurant to the award-winning 64 Degrees, Murmur was opened by Michael to offer a different dining concept, serving healthy and honest food for breakfast, lunch and dinner in a stunning beachside location.
The restaurant is named Murmur from the word murmuration which is the shape that the starlings make when they flock and fly between the two piers here on the coast, with the logo representing the six arches in which the restaurant is located.
Murmur has 37 covers inside and a further 40 covers on the terrace overlooking the beach, is children friendly throughout the day and dogs are welcome on the terrace.
Service a bit too slow between courses .
No quibbles about the quality of the food and some of the flavours were divine. Service too was slick. My only slight disappointment was the portion sizes which I thought were a little on the stingy side...but perhaps that was just because I was enjoying it all so much that I was like Oliver and wanted more.
Disappointed had higher expectations not posh pub grub e.g. cold plates, tagatellie with clams - plenty of shells hunt the clams. The real problem was we were expecting something special .which it is not.
The welcome from Erwan? was fantastic, he really makes your visit fun and exciting, what a dude. There are so many places with bland, boring faces, smiles cost nothing! You need more toilets!
The only complaint i had was the fish soup had very little fish in it. For a starter.More fish choice. Bigger portoion. Staff were exceptional.
Fabulous meal, great staff
Booked a table at Murmur for my fiance's 30th birthday and the whole service from booking to the meal was great. They were so polite on the phone when booking and made the occasion feel really special. I emailed them prior and asked if we could bring a cake and balloons and they were happy with both. They brought the cake out with candles and we had that as dessert which was so appreciated. Thank you so much :)
We had a wonderful time Food - service- ambience all top drawer We will be back
The food was decent but not good enough for us to want to come back. The squid (starters) was really overcooked and therefore quite dry. There were hardly any vegetables with our main courses ...how disappointing because they were very good. The deserts were good. Apart from that, there was a problem with flickering lights...the management did try to do something about it but it couldn't be totally fixed and it stop us from relaxing and totally enjoying the evening. Why not resort to candles if this sort of thing happens again? We got the overall impression of a fairly decent meal but not worth the price.
Excellent food and service!
Excellent food and original aperitifs.
Beautiful and really delicious fish. Everyone loved their food. Cheerful and helpful waiting staff. Good value plaice. Thanks
The cod was amazing!!
This was another excellent experience. Yesterday was an important lunch as we were celebrating 5 significant birthdays. The service was excellent - nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were asked to take multiple photos and the food was superb! The final touch of a Happy Birthday on the plate for each of us - even me who was too full to order pudding was the final icing on the cake. A great lunch! Many many thanks!
A very enjoyable lunch with excellent service.
Desserts were poor, restaurant would be great in the Summer
Delicious food and wonderful ambiance. You can see the staff are really happy working here and enthusiastic to make your evening special. Will definitely visit again!
Really beautiful resturaunt with the most friendly staff, who could not have been more accommodating of my gluten free dietary requirements. Food was absolutely gorgeous, cocktails awesome and innovative and a really great wine selection you could pair with each course at really reasonable prices. Would highly recommend.
Jamie and the team really looked after us. Fast becoming our favourite place to eat in Brighton.
Really lovely evening, but a bit quiet in the restaurant so although the space is great the atmosphere was subdued - nobodies fault! Was aware of a smell of frying oil from the kitchen, which is unusual in a restaurant of this standard but other than that the food was tasty, well executed and well priced. Service was efficient, attentive but not overly so.
Delicious food and friendly and helpful staff
The food was inconsistent. Starter (squid) was amazing, main (pork) was ok but the skin was soggy/no crackling and the dessert (apple mille feuille) was really poor. The veg that came with the fresh plaice was very poor. Couldn’t fault the service and the wine was good. However we had to wait 30 mins for our table even though we’d booked. Not sure we’ll be back because of the food.
Nice food and great vibe
