Simple, distinctive and generous, the menu celebrates the best seasonal, local produce with an emphasis on high quality cuts from the grill. Private dining is also available. Reservation only. Pre booking is essential.
Lovely food and atmosphere, service a little slow not busy at the time.
Lovely hotel but our room was a bit tired and in need of a makeover, cracked mirror, cracked sink and the tv didn't work.
Lovely food and friendly staff
The food was delicious and well presented.
Great stay! We only live up the road but it’s one of those places that make you feel relaxed. The stay are great and the Carrington dinner is not to be missed. Beautiful
Very nice food and pleasant surroundings though a bit cold due to a draught around our table. Staff friendly but could do with better training - drink missed from first order and when we asked about it still took a significant time to arrive. During food service waiters frequently leaning across people and plates to serve others. However, was given 20% discount (without asking for anything) when we mentioned problems to manager.
I have graded this according to the calibre of the hotel and our expectations of a restaurant befitting it. Food was ok, but instantly forgettable. We wouldn’t go there or recommend it to dine if we were not staying at the hotel. (There wasn’t one dessert that I personally liked.) Music was too loud for a restaurant and was intrusive. We were asked what drinks we would like about 2 minutes after sitting down when we had not even looked at the menu properly. We asked if they could please come back in a few minutes after we had chosen our meal and we were then left for at least 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. When the starter arrived, we hadn’t received our drinks and we had to ask for them. I had decided not to have wine but chose a gin and tonic with a twist of orange. I received lime, which I don’t party like. The crab fish cake was no better in taste than a good supermarket offering. The delicate and sweet flavour of crab was overpowered by seasoning/spices. The veg accompanying it were bland and tasteless. We both had pork for our main. No choice of potato. Chips or chips. No lovely seasonal veg was available. We shared some cauliflower cheese, at £4 extra, which was tasty and creamy. The pork itself, was very nice. You are surrounded by delicious, local produce, why not use it and promote it? For a top hotel, the restaurant was disappointing. No white cloths on the table, no candles or flowers and then the loud music. No ambience at all. One guy was sitting at a table in a hoodie...no enforcement of smart casual dress code. The restaurant simply wasn’t in keeping with the calibre of the hotel, which was lovely. When we stay again, we will eat out, unless exceptionally tired!
Amazing rib eye
We had a very enjoyable meal at the Grill. We had attentive and friendly waiters and the food was lovely. Thank you!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. A special mention to Ella on reception and Francesca who showed us around the spa. We did miss having air conditioning in our room:-( Overall a very enjoyable break for our wedding anniversary.Thank you Mottram Hall:-)
Would never stay here again. Embarrassing how they cant get the basics right. Who puts gin In a moretti glass and if your not wedding party just go back to your room. I wouldn't give this a place 1 star
The dinning experience at Carrington Grill was a tale of two halves, on the Saturday evening the staff were lovely and the food was ok. We were a little disappointed as we thought the food would be really good, it lacked flavour although the menu was varied (not good for a veggie though). The staff were attentive and friendly, atmosphere wasn't great especially as there was a table next to us facetiming really loudly. On the Sunday the restaurant was awful, we had to queue for over 10 minutes to go into the restaurant for breakfast to only find there were empty tables, it was a hot buffet and the food was good. There was no sorry you've had to queue or attentiveness to order hot drinks, we had to ask the manager in the end for a hot drink as none of the other staff were helping, again another 10 minutes in. The table we were seated as was dirty and it wasn't what I expected from a really nice hotel. It was a little disappointing all round and no one seemed to take accountability. Wouldn't recommend the restaurant unfortunately, dinned in a lot nicer in Manchester. Sorry.
Delicious food. Steak was chewy in some parts but a minor detail to a lovely meal. Everything is freshly cooked, smells amazing and the service is so friendly. We hope to return.
Excellent meal and service! First class!
Really lovely food and great service, this was a great way to celebrate our anniversary!
Food and cocktails were overpriced. Comes across as trying to be fine dining but not getting it right. Unfortunately would not return
The restaurant team was fairly untrained, we had the impression they didn't know we were coming although we booked for the dinner. Also didn't ask if we were staying or not and which room we were, therefore we had to explain we had a package and so a dinner allocation. We also asked for a cocktail prior to the starter and received it only at the end of the main. Reception wasn't really welcoming, we had to ask for the voucher for the pink gin included in the package. We believe the reception staff should be aware of the guest's package and should have everything prepared. The afternoon tea was ok, the dinner was delicious. We loved the spa, the staff we had (Amy and Tom) were amazing, and the installation is really good. Lovely surprise in the room with the baloon and chocolate + towels as swans for our anniversary :)
All three courses were delicous. Not much choice but what i did choose you couldnt fault. Service was good.
What has happened to Mottram Hall? Have been coming for years and is upsetting to see. It was scruffy. The service and food was awful. Such a shame!
Drinks were slow. Had to ask 3 times then the wrong drinks were bought. Once food arrived we never saw a server again until the plates were cleared. Food was great apart from the lamb which was bland.
Menu was rather limited - I realise you are a 'grill' but I was hoping for a little more choice. Also, I requested a dessert wine with my dessert; firstly the waitress did not know what one was (thought it was port) and then found that you don't stock any - this seems odd. However, all the food we ordered was perfectly cooked.
On arrival seated quickly and greeted warmly and asked for drinks promptly. Drinks order had to be confirmed twice before they arrived. Food came out fairly quickly but service after that was a bit slow. No steak knife was offered until asked. Food was of good quality at a decent price no companints. We wanted dessert and waited a long time to order but nothing compared to how long we had to wait for it to arrive. Had to ask a waiter after 20 mins and came quickly after that. Overall lovely evening but could have been made better with more attentive waiters. But on leaving staff on the door kindly told us about where we could walk around the lake to finish off our evening.
Delicious food and good service
When your waiter doesn't know the basics eg what is soup of the day?, you have very little chance of getting it right. No countreau for a liqueur coffee, yet the bar can find a bottle? Seem to have a strange system whereby the person taking the order doesn't deliver the food and vice versa. This meant that when I ordered drinks from the "deliverer" of course they didn't arrive. Food passed across the table is not the way to serve! As a positive, the food tasted good. Definitely lacking in elegance or style.
Lovely restaurant service was a little slow especially when ordering a first drink, seemed a little understaffed although when served very friendly, not much variety on the food menu and a little overpriced for the portion size, steak was gristley, although breakfast in the morning was beautiful.
