About Mottram Hall - Carrington Grill
Sitting at the heart of Mottram Hall, our recently awarded AA Rosette Carrington Grill combines relaxed informality with elegance and style. The grill is warm and inviting - the perfect place to entertain, do business, celebrate or relax with friends and family.
Simple, distinctive and generous, the menu celebrates the best seasonal, local produce with an emphasis on high quality cuts from the grill. Private dining is also available. Reservation only. Pre booking is essential.
Poor level of food, quite bland.
Food was delicious and had generous portions. Diet Coke in a 200ml bottle is far too small with a meal.
We were the only table in the restaurant for our luncheon but we still enjoyed it - we were checking out for a return visit in June for a group of us in the evening.
An excellent Sunday lunch
Hotel was lovely and we had a lovely meal in the Carrington. However the room we were given was at the bottom of the stairs so it was very noisy with other guests going up and down. Didn’t get very much sleep because of this.
Staff were slow and inexperienced. No one appeared to be in charge.Steaks were overpriced
This was our second visit. Both times the food and service were excellent. We will definitely visit again and would highly recommend.
Very good quality meal, quiet atmosphere and well worth a visit
Had a lovely meal, service was excellent, restaurant was quiet that night
A very high standard in all aspects of hospitality. The quality of food we ate was outstanding. Well done to all concerned.
We were residents of Mottram Hall for the evening and didn't want to venture out so we booked a meal here. The service was great and the ambience really good. The food was very tasty but very small portions for the money. It would be better if bread or side dishes were offered.
We were a party of 4 and enjoyed our stay at Mottram Hall, It brought back fond childhood memories of when we stayed there each bonfire weekend 55 or so years ago.
Food was excellent
The food was amazing - loved the ham hock Ballantine and bacon steak. Atmosphere spoilt by an annoying child banging cutlery and crying. The service was efficient but lacked ‘finesse’ - the tonic water bottle from my G&T remained on the table for the duration of the meal. Waiters/waitresses left the table empty handed when they had the opportunity to clear. Second glass of wine served on the wrong side... Just the TNT/attention to detail. Shame really as the food quality was top notch. Just the service and atmosphere failed to match.
The table was booked for 12.30. We had Sunday lunch which was very tasty and Tom, our waiter, was very courteous. However, despite there only being four other diners we had to wait 30mins for our soup and a similar wait for the main course. One point we would raise is that the knives could have been a little sharper for cutting the beef! ALL the staff were very friendly.
Main courses were too long in arriving and just about warm when they arrived.
Could do with a better range of drought beer no veggie options or lactose free yoghurt at breakfast
Great dining experience all along. Quality food in a cosy atmosphere.
We had out works Christmas dinner here, the restaurant was very nice with comfy chairs and a nice atmosphere. Food was good although we all thought that the portions were a bit on the small size and we could have done with (a lot) more veg! But we would book again.
Great food and the staff were fantastic and friendly!
Fantastic experience for my wife's 30th birthday, food and wine were excellent, atmosphere and the hotel were perfect, room was lovely. Will definitely be visiting again, looking forward to the spa reopening so we can plan our next visit
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal, lovely restaurant and great service!
The best steak I've ever had! Fantastic service at the Carrington Grill, the staff were very attentive and polite. Everything was perfect, would certainly return.
Menu too restrictive, this is not a fine dining restaurant and needs more choice. Stayed here several times as a Q Hotel and De Vere and there was always a good selection on the menu.
Enjoyable Sunday lunch although service was slow. Pinot Grigio wine was served warm and barely chilled. A second glass was served which was hardly any better after the first had to be returned.
