About Montys of Kathmandu
Montys is an award winning, traditional and authentic Nepalese Restaurant, owned by husband and wife team of Shiva and Lina Gautam. Although we get, wrongly, categorised as an Indian, I can say proudly that we are Nepalese all the way through, owned, cooked and served by Nepalese. The real deal, we are what we say on the tin, so to speak.
Montys of Kathmandu opened its doors to the public, very quietly, without any fanfare, on a wet September evening 1997, hence it took us forever to get noticed! But after over 15 years of serving great Nepalese food to the Irish public as well as our visitors from abroad, we are now very much part of the Dublin’s premium ethnic restaurant.
Montys of Kathmandu offers a great variety of Nepalese food at great value with great Nepalese service, where the customers are always treated with great respect.
Our focus is to source quality raw ingredients and prepare all dishes in house, taking no short cuts and serve great Nepalese food. We use traditional charcoal tandoor to give that smoky taste to our Barbecued dishes and to our very famous Nan breads.
Always a most enjoyable evening a Montys.
Amazing wine list, nice food, nice atmosphere, rude staff.
A bright star in a desert that is Temple Bar
Excellent meal tailored to your taste. Whilst I can’t say I have been to Nepal to compare for authenticity I can say that you could taste the individual spices in the meal. This is not common in curry restaurants in Ireland. I will certainly be returning.
Absolutely love this restaurant the food is delicious
Thank you so much for a very enjoyable experience, the staff, service and above all the food was exceptional. We will be back soon. Kind regards Mary
Best curry I’ve ever eaten. Would highly recommend.
One of the best Indian restaurants in town!
One of my favourite places in Dublin.
Excellent food and service.
Super food and super lovely staff!
One of my favourite restaurants in Dublin, incredible food in a restaurant with top class staff, and a lovely atmosphere
The butter chicken meat was scraps from the Carcass it looked disgusting Everything else was good Expensive for a lunch visit It was a bit chilly in the restaurant
An outstanding restaurant where the quality of the food and the warmth of the welcome never disappoint.
The staff were terrific and gave us a very friendly and warm welcome. The service was great and well organised. Restaurant was very cosy and relaxing. Food was fantastic, me and my brother had the Ledo Bedo (medium), all I can say is that it was super delicious with loads of flavour and my sister had the vegetable masala which was also super tasty. The nan bread is simply the best. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back in the new year.
Being visting montys of Kathmandu for 15 years, food has always been beautiful, great service, great atmosphere, and lovely friendly staff. 10/10.
Another fantastic night at Montys, family Christmas night out , great company, food and wine. As always another memorial night. Thank you to staff and management for looking after us.

Great authentic restaurant, delicious food, friendly and helpful service. Would definitely recommend it to everyone
Superb food, as always. Thank you very much.
Just getting better and better. Multiple visits and now my ,in fact our , go to Dublin restaurant. Brilliant.
3rd time here and can’t wait to go back - Got lamb ghorkali, butter chicken ,Dahl and peshwari naan and it was all so delicious, all the staff were so friendly and attentive. Thank you!
Table booked for 6.30. Told we needed to have the table back by 8.15 which was fine. However, we were a long time waiting for our order to be taken and to receive the main course so didn’t have time to order dessert. Felt there should have been enough time for three courses.
I really like the restaurant and food is lovely. However, when I got to the restaurant at 18.30 I was informed I had to return the table at 8. I would have preferred if that was informed when I made the booking, as I would have gone elsewhere. I was meeting a friend and we were planning to spend more time having our dinner. We were kicked out before even looking at the desert menu. I was disappointed with it and it will be taken into account when thinking about going there again.
