With Table Mountain as a backdrop, Mondiall ‘Kitchen and bar’ is the perfect setting for a lifestyle eatery where one can pass the afternoon with champagne and oysters, craft beer and tacos, watching the yachts sail by. Originally known as The Green Dolphin, this restaurant has undergone a dramatic and inspired transformation.
Cape Town’s hippest restaurant in the V&A Waterfront has a relaxed brasserie style and cocktail bar situated at the harbours edge. Mondiall is open 7 days per week offering breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner with prime Waterfront setting with spectacular Cape Town, Table Mountain and harbour views. The main dining room is at the heart of Mondiall showcasing a lavish wrought iron chandelier, black leather seating and refurbished tables. This style is a tasteful reinterpretation of the warm, glamour when old blends with new; warm, with wood cladding, bookcases and plants, fireplaces and rugs.
The glassed kitchen flows directly into the main dining room allowing interaction without distraction. Here one can sit back and watch closely as Chef Stephen Mendes, Ultimate Braai Master Champion, prepares your meal with effortless passion.
Mendes’ food philosophy is, “
To keep things simple and natural, making flavours and ingredients the champions of the dish. Ingredients
are sourced from reputable, local suppliers, keeping it as organic and free range as far as possible”. The wine menu is a glorious combination of
the finest wine regions in the Western Cape, ranging from Constantia to Elgin, Stellenbosch to Robertson. Each wine carefully selected to complement the range of fresh dishes on offer.
The Mezzanine floor provides
a private function room and chefs table for up to 24 guests that can be transformed into an exclusive private dining room with antiqued mirrors and dividing shutters. An elegant experience.
A firm favourite with Cape Town locals, Mondiall offers something for everyone, suited to all tastes and occasions.
The menu on the night was extremely limited. We wanted specifically the Winter Menu, but were told by the water that it was sold out by 4PM that afternoon. There were also quite a few items on the menu that were not available. Our waiter was not very present, because he was the only waiter on duty. We ended up just staying for starters and opted to leave and have dinner somewhere else. Very disappointing.
The waiter did a good job, I wish they had a vegetarian burger but I had to settle for vegetarian pasta.
After emailing to confirm that you guys still have the burger-beer-bubbles pairing, I was slightly disappointed when we arrived and the waiter said you are out of burgers. Since that was the main reason we went. Turned out okay since the food we ordered was delicious. It was just disappointing to hear since we were expecting something else.
The winter special set-menu is fantastic value for money. The pork belly starter as well as the tuna nicoise salad is really delicious. The mussel mains were a lukewarm, but still good. Will definitely return.
Keep going back for more. Absolutely love Mondiall.
Spanish Omelette was outstanding. The service equalled it. Only downside was they were painting outside and the fumes were quite overwhelming.
Great deal and the food was AMAZE!
The only big disappointment was when my daughter's meal came and it was totally different to what the menu stated. Her 18 pounder (veggie burger) was supposed to have a patty made with beans and chickpeas with a mango and kiwi salsa. Instead it consisted of leftover veggies: Cauliflower, Broccoli and potato. And a bit dry with no salsa.
Keep up the great work, I had an amazing time
Thank you so much for the amazing birthday breakfast we had yesterday for a friend of myne, the added touch and accommodating service will make me become a regular at your establishment thanks again
We had a wonderful, cosy evening on a cold and rainy Monday at Mondiall. The atmosphere was inviting with the warming fire in the corner and towering bookcase, the staff and our waiter Brian were attentive and welcome but the food was the winner of the evening, all round spectacular.
Some more food options or food specials should be on offer. Venue is lovely though and great service and warmth from the staff
Lovely ambience and restaurant but a bit overpriced for the quality of food.
Great atmosphere and the food was splendid. However, it was disturbing that our waiter did not know anything about the menu for restaurant week.
Wonderful service and food. Best view of Table Mountain
Unfriendly greeting - we were pushed into a corner table surrounded by families with unruly children despite half the restaurant being empty. Service was just OK - the waiter made his displeasure at the tip offered quite obvious. Too bad for him I'm happy we didn't tip more.Too many waiting staff standing around talking and doing nothing. Toilets were filthy. This is unacceptable. It was obvious that this place was lacking proper management. Staff were arrogant and it had a true tourist trap feel. This will be our final visit I'm happy to say.
awesome place with a lekka vibe. Thoroughly enjoyed our food and excellent service was provided.
We had an excellent late lunch meal at Mondiall after our trip to Robben Island. we were given a beautiful table with views and the food and service were of a high standard. Thank you!
Thank you for a wonderful dinner.
Amazing wagyu burger. The service was really good and atmosphere was enjoyable and had a nice vibe. Pleasant evening overall.
Good day I hope this finds you well. My husband and I are big foodies and are great believers of sticking to a certain restaurant when it does well on a certain dish / meal. These are the types of establishments that we will visit and revisit for a signature meal. We have found that Mondiall does an incredible burger (both and the burger bar and sit down) and that your fish and chips is also really great. So we often make a point of coming just for these two meals. Over our last couple of bookings, we’ve dealt with someone by the name of Mandy. Whose disposition was incredibly unwelcoming and distasteful, but we just dismissed it. Then upon visiting your establishment for lunch yesterday, we both ordered the waygu burgers and were grossly disappointed by the quality thereof. We expected crispy chips with your delish tomato sauce, and a nicely toasted bun with fresh (and crispy) lettuce and tomato and cheese but instead were served chips that had been drenched in oil (soggy and limp) and the burgers had stale, wilted lettuce and the buns were not toasted. We asked to see the manager who had taken our chips away initially and then as we later discovered the state of the burger asked that she rather just charge us for our drinks and cancel our order. She was quick to do so, but created the impression that she just wanted to quiet us down and get away from us. It was not as though we had caused a scene or anything of the sort as we were also very mindful of the people next to us. Instead, the reception and reaction of the lady who assisted us left me feeling that I should apologise for the complaint about the poor quality of the food. She left our table (without apologising for the poor standard / quality of the food), did not venture to resolve or offer an alternative solution or anything of this nature. She furthermore just mentioned that our order was cancelled and sent our bill with the drinks and we were left to feel incredibly frustrated and dissatisfied. It is really sad that the standard has dropped so significantly following a period of three years. Regards Candice
Food, drinks and atmosphere great and service was good only one small problem I used my daddy deal and the waitor didn't seem like he knew what it was or how the process worked other than than lovely afternoon
