Michelin star chef Mark Poynton joins Cambridge Cookery.

Following on from our series of successful events last year we will now be taking over the Cambridge Cookery School every Friday and Saturday evening.

Mark will offer two distinctly different concepts:

A relaxed £40 for 3 courses or £50 for 5 courses on Friday evenings.

Every Saturday indulge into Mark's surprise tasting menu for £55

With Mark running service in the open cookery school, we are able to offer this area as his "Chefs Table" so you can watch Mark work! We do also have seating in the bistro. The tables in the cookery school will be allocated on a first come first sift/request basis so please add a note to your reservation should you wish to book this area.

I go to this place very frequently to get breakfast in the morning. But never been for a dinner expect for this once. As much as I love this place for the daytime cafe! Which serves excellent food and a great atmosphere! This was the very time Ive had dinner there and unfortunately I'm left with no option to leave this negative review because of the dinner we had was awful. I wouldn't be true to myself if I didn't or even leave a positive feedback. It was awful enough I had diarrhea at weekend and i'm still recovering. We didn't like any dish served that evening and the pudding felt like something from had been cooked days before. Nothing felt fresh, even the quality, presentation and refinement, that I would expect from a Michelin start chef. Defo not worth the money!!

My daughter and I had a wonderful evening sampling the 5-course tasting menu with some delicious surprises paired with some excellent wines. Being sat at Chef's Table meant we could be nosey and chat to Mark about the various courses - we are both keen home cooks. Mark was in control of the whole presentation of the evening with a very busy service. We left CCS convinced that a lot of effort goes in to the thought behind the menus. Most of all we loved the relaxed and informal feel of the evening and will certainly go back for more. It's a great feast for a very reasonable price and the evening has outstripped our dining experiences elsewhere in Cambridge. I can't believe we didn't know about this place sooner!

Long wait before our first course arrived. To have been offered bread before the Starter would have been preferable. The fish course was underwhelming and too small a portion, although it was served in an enormous bowl! The cheese course was disappointing and not enough to share between two people.

Back for a second visit but this time to try the Friday night a la carte three course dinner. It was again excellent. Every dish was delicious - our favourites were the mains of olive crusted salmon with yeasted cauliflower purée and the duck breast with sweet potato. We both thoroughly enjoyed our evening; service was great and it adds to the evening being able to see your food being prepared in front of you!

We had a very enjoyable evening and the food was both interesting and delicious. The serving staff were very attentive and helpful. We will definitely be back.

Fabulous dinner; great to have the chance to eat Mark’s food again and to see him cook every dish too! We had the Saturday five course tasting menu and every dish was delicious. Flavours were deep but the dishes were never heavy so the overall balance of courses was just right. We particularly loved the sea bream with chickpeas and olives. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly, and service was excellent. The wine list is short but well put together; we had a great bottle of white Rhône. Have booked now to go back on a Friday evening to try out the three course a la carte menu.

All very good. The flavours were fantastic (especially the fish course). The size of the courses were just right for us. Will look to book again when were back in Cambridge.

Very enjoyable meal with my wife here recently. Great flavours and taste experience. My only slightly negative comment is that I would have liked the first course to have been something else more creative than bread and butter.

It was have been great to have had the time to speak with Mark, but he was very busy on the evening. Our night was part of our weekend celebrations for my sons birthday, which I had emailed about, something on the night to reflect this was have been the only thing to make a great night really excellent!
