About Mistley Thorn
The Mistley Thorn is located in the centre of the historic coastal village of Mistley and is two minutes walk from Mistley station which has direct services to Colchester, Harwich and London Liverpool Street. Built as a coaching inn circa 1723, The Mistley Thorn offers award-winning dining and accommodation in tastefully designed surroundings opposite the River Stour. American born executive chef Sherri Singleton has developed a menu using the best of the area’s seasonal produce.
Great food, excellent service, fantastic value
Regular customers always great service , and always a good selection of GF dishes available , as my wife Debbie has coeliac allergy.
We have had dinner at the Thorn a few times now, and it has always been excellent. This time we thought we would try the breakfast, and it was equally impressive, lovely relaxed atmosphere, very good choice, friendly and attentive staff and excellent value for money. Well done, we will definitely be returning. Graham Aldrich
Great meal at the Mistley Thorn, we are never let down by this restaurant. It is one of our favourites, great service, great food and an amazing atmosphere. We will be back again soon...
My niece who lives in London thinks the Thorn is very good value for money compared to London-prices. Only negative was there were no staff around when we entered restaurant and we had to wait quite a while to be seated, but service during meal was very good.
It is always a pleasure eating at The Mistley Thorn. Good food, lovely service and value for money.
firstly, we like this restaurant having been several times before,This time we felt that the room was a little cold, it was a chilly night, so we were hoping to be a bit more comfortable. Our starters were excellent, In particular my squid was little short of perfect, My main, Rib Eye, steak was only ok and quite small for £22.00 I realise this will appear churlish and it will not put us off from coming again but I felt it better to be honest. The service was first class.
The food and service were excellent as always.
excellent food, good service. The room was perhaps a little dark with the slatted blind almost closed.
Always fishy options on menu which we love . Shame we live so far away Best Adnams ale & wine by glass
Great first visit - will be back!
We had lunch at the Thorn recently and were very pleased with the quality of the cooking and the service. It's nice to go to a restaurant where the food is tasty and well cooked, and the bill is not too imposing on the wallet.
Food was good, service very good, lovely atmosphere.
Portions were generous and take away cartons were provided!
Great food, cooked perfectly. Nice wine list.
Excellent meal, enjoyed by all of us.
A perfect afternoon was spent celebrating my husbands 50th birthday, thank you Mistley Thorn
Great food and service. The oysters in particular were delicious. Nice choices on the menu too.
We really enjoyed our meal.We have been many times and will be returning soon.
The Mistley Thorn is one of my favourite pubs. We have occasionally stayed in one of the beautiful rooms and if we are ever in this part of Essex we come to eat here. It has a lovely dining room, delicious food with lots of choice and a good selection of beers and wine. Friendly staff and is dog friendly. Keep up the good work!
Our first visit. Good food and good service. Parking a little difficult.
Yet again an excellent meal. Friends from London thought it was excellent value for money. Thank you for giving us the window seat.
Excellent food and service and great value for the weekday set course lunches. A little more to pay than a typical pub but absolutely worth it. It was a pleasure to eat at your restaurant. Well done a ll the staff at the Thorn.
