About Mistley Thorn
The Mistley Thorn is located in the centre of the historic coastal village of Mistley and is two minutes walk from Mistley station which has direct services to Colchester, Harwich and London Liverpool Street. Built as a coaching inn circa 1723, The Mistley Thorn offers award-winning dining and accommodation in tastefully designed surroundings opposite the River Stour. American born executive chef Sherri Singleton has developed a menu using the best of the area’s seasonal produce.
We've been 3 times in 3 months for 3 family occasions!
Very much enjoyed our lunch with you and look forward to coming again. We live a long way away so have recommended you to local friends
Great short stop before boarding the ferry to hoek van holland
Superb food, beautifully calm relaxing atmosphere. A really enjoyable meal
Excellent meal is great surroundings.
As always excellent across all departments
A very enjoyable meal in convivial surroundings.
It's a long way for us to go but definitely worth it.
lovely room with huge and very comfortable bed. All the staff we met were very friendly.
Great food and service will definitely be back again.
My wife and I have stayed at the Thorn each year for the last four years. We have always been very well looked after and the food is excellent!
Excellent Friendly service and environment. Well cooked fresh food although the chips were soggy and stuck together in the pot. Unimaginative salad with the plaice.
Tasty sandwich and kind and considerate service as I had broken my ankle when I visited,
Was a super eve ..lovely food and the service was top class
Staff were very attentive and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Changing us to a table seat, as we had a guest who wanted to appreciate the river view. Food the usual high standard. My trout was delicious.
A lovely spot to recommend before boarding the ferry to Holland.
As a regular, I was hoping for a table where people weren't constantly walking past our table, it rather dulled the eating experience.
We so enjoyed the food and setting. Perfect for us in advance of the late night ferry to the Hook of Holland.
Fabulous meal and service, as usual! Especially scrumptious was the vegan salad. Wow! ✨
As usual the meal was very good and so was the service
The best of Essex fish, meat and produce, perfectly cooked. Good friendly service.
Twice in two days.... says most of it. The main plus is the quality of the ingredients. Wonderful food for all, including Sunday roasts and fish and steak and... Service today exemplary. Yesterday, under servere pressure, one main course late two orders forgotten - never mind, never on a Father's Day Sunday, when you can enjoy excellence (especially fish) on every other day. Thank you. Michael (and Oscar)
Food is always great and so is the service. The only one bad meal I’ve ever had in the Mistley Thorne was for mother’s day but other than that it’s a great place to eat
very comfortable and pleasant rooms and the food was excellent (well done chef and staff). All the waitresses and staff were very pleasant and looked after our needs. Special thanks to Donna who sorted out any problems we had.... Rod
Lovely food and good service. The room was a little bright first thing in the morning as it was a sunny day, could do with some darker blinds or curtains, but only a minor issue as it was a lovely room. Overall experience was great. Would definitely return.
