About Mistley Thorn
The Mistley Thorn is located in the centre of the historic coastal village of Mistley and is two minutes walk from Mistley station which has direct services to Colchester, Harwich and London Liverpool Street. Built as a coaching inn circa 1723, The Mistley Thorn offers award-winning dining and accommodation in tastefully designed surroundings opposite the River Stour. American born executive chef Sherri Singleton has developed a menu using the best of the area’s seasonal produce.
Had an extremely pleasant lunch. We had a lovely table looking over the estuary. The staff service was excellent. Did find the food a little on the expensive side. Although it was to a very high standard.
We had a lovely meal. Thank you
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Great service and full was fantastic, will be back that's for sure. Thanks for a wonderful evening
The Locals Menu of 2 courses for £14.95 is excellent value, generous portions and no compromise on quality. Highlights include the home made terrine, home made bread and all fish courses. I have never been disappointed and highly recommend.
Excellent service and beautiful food everytime.
Not sure about wheelchair access.
Food was very nice and felt like good value for money. Lovely atmosphere for Sunday lunch. Service was a little slow, but we didn’t feel rushed, which was nice
Always a good place for a leisurely lunch.
Nice food in a good atmosphere with very thoughtful service. An excellent experience and would highly recommend.
Excellent food and service. Lovely fresh fish and seafood. Thoughtful touch to mark son’s Birthday. Thank you.
We had a lovely evening at the thorn ,the food was excellent, the only comment i make is the set menu should go on later in the evening.
Another great meal - pity the oysters were not in season
The pannacotta needs more espresso and less gelatine!!
Another outstanding meal at The Thorn, which combines the friendliness of a neighbourhood eatery with the skill and professionalism of a London restaurant.
We were plagued with flies. There seemed to be a lot of crumbs around presumably from lunchtime not cleaned up. We felt that the restaurant was not as good as our previous visit.
Very good. Attentive and capable staff who took orders and delivered promptly. Great choice of well cooked and presented dishes. Good job. Thanks.
It was a lovely evening, the food was excellent and the staff were helpful and attentive
Great fish and relaxed dining with friendly helpful staff
Friendly, good food, good service
Amazing food, the hot seafood bowl was fantastic. Made a school boy error by not having any bread with it to mop up the stunning juices that went with it . Will definitely be back
a venue chosen because I had heard such great reports about the food. Loved every mouthful. We took some Australian guests and they ended up treating us. We will be back. Book here you wont be diappointed.
A very nice dining experience with very good value for money.
We love the Thorn, have been coming for years and have introduced friends and family to it.
