About Mistley Thorn
The Mistley Thorn is located in the centre of the historic coastal village of Mistley and is two minutes walk from Mistley station which has direct services to Colchester, Harwich and London Liverpool Street. Built as a coaching inn circa 1723, The Mistley Thorn offers award-winning dining and accommodation in tastefully designed surroundings opposite the River Stour. American born executive chef Sherri Singleton has developed a menu using the best of the area’s seasonal produce.
Varied & extensive menu choice. Tough task to choose. Reassuringly affordable wine list. Attentive & engaging staff. Delighted to hear it's dog friendly. Hard to beat in terms of a value dining experience.
Lovely fresh fish.
Excellent food and lovely food.
lovely great locally sourced food. Excellent squid and steak, service was great as per usual.
Lovely food and great service.
We were in the back room where the atmosphere is not quite as charming as in the main room. Otherwise all was excellent
Had a fantastic meal, lovely restaurant
Lovely food at a great table by the window!
Food, as always, delicious and excellent service.
We really could not rate this place high enough. We decided to have our wedding there on Thursday 22nd August and this venue was more than perfect. Before the wedding The organisation of Clare was unbelievable. i thought i was organised but this lady put me to shame. As with any wedding, things changed all of the time. But this was not a problem for her, She was extremely flexible and put me at ease from the moment i met her. During the wedding. All staff were friendly and sociable . it felt like they were part of the wedding party and having just as much fun as we were. At the same time, delivery an outstanding smooth service. As always with weddings - speeches ran over, things got delayed but they always found a way to work through things and stay positive. The food was delicious. My guests spoke about the chicken alot. After the wedding A great breakfast. Service with a smile. And help packing final bits. Rooms seemed really spacious with high quality bedding and products. Very reasonable price for accommodation. Overall - this really was an incredible place to have the wedding and we felt the cost was extremely reasonable for what we received in return. I think this is a hidden gem that not enough people know about.
Food was fantastic and certainly amongst the best I have ever eaten HOWEVER £11.00 for a glass of White Wine was scandalous and does need looking at! Whilst I understand that Wine is an earner for you within the Food Industry charging at such a high rate will do you no favours and will take the gloss away from the food.
I always look forward to a leisurely lunch in The Thorn.
Such a delicious menu, gluten free friendly too.
Had a small query on my bill , that was sorted immediately.
Was the first time myself and my husband have been to the mistley thorn and we will definitely return, food and staff were very nice
Food good, staff welcoming. The only complaint I would have was our table was very close to another, and every time the waitress served this table I had a backside in my face.
Nice food and reasonably priced in a lovely building. Even on a Monday night there were plenty of people there . Staff were very lovely
Perfect dining experience. Great food, lovely atmosphere, delightful and helpful staff.
We've been 3 times in 3 months for 3 family occasions!
Very much enjoyed our lunch with you and look forward to coming again. We live a long way away so have recommended you to local friends
