In our last visit over 10 days to Hukaba, we attended Mimi's four times and tried something different on each occasion. The food is of the highest quality and presentation. The staff are very welcoming, friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable about the food and wines offered. The only negative is the cost of the wines to accompany the great food. The cheapest bottle is over AU$100 for a basic wine, with quality wines starting from AU$200. Mimi's is definitely a restaurant to put on your bucket list when visiting Hukaba, especially for those looking for high quality food, just save a little extra for a good wine to accompany the great food, the experience will be well worth it.
Mimi's I have dined here many many times and is always very good and can thoroughly recommend it to you
Came here for an end of season staff dinner and we were all very pleased with the food and wine pairings. The restaurant provided a three course vegan menu to cater for our vegan staff member which was greatly appreciated nd was delicious. Thank you so much for a fantastic dinner, will 100% recommend
Always love coming here. Great wine selection and delicious food.
We came across this restaurant from reviews online and were not disappointed. There were 13 of us and we had the luxury of the private room which was very cosy but did not lack in style or ambiance. Staff were very attentive and helpful and answered all questions we had with ease, the food was delicious and even though not every one had beef the other dishes stood up well too. Would definitely recommend to friends and would visit again next time. Thank you for a memorable evening.
great dinner - best food in japan! Great service!!
Italian flavour meets Japanese mastery! Potentially the best pasta dishes ever. Wonderful and friendly staff.
Unfortunately our food order was incorrect with 4 or 5 guests receiving the wrong meal. It was replaced with the correct one but that meant that one guest ate alone. There was no suggestion of eg a shared dessert or anything to offset the inconvenience of the mistake.
Had a really enjoyable time. The service and advice about wines etc was excellent. The meals were delicious and a really high standard of taste and quality. To me it was like a two hatted restaurant on the Australian rating scale.
Fantastic service and the food was incredible. One of thee best means I have ever had!
Mimi's is by far the best restaurant in Hakuba, perhaps it is the best Franco / Italian restaurant in Japan - certainly I have never seen a 'ravioli menu' elsewhere! Pasta dishes are exceptional especially the children's 'wagyu beef bolognaise'. Staff are super knowledgeable and fair in making recommendations on one etc. Not cheap but it is exceptional.
I know this isn’t Japanese cuisine, especially given that I’m in Hakuba but we had Japanese for every other meal and Mimi’s just simply blew me away, probably the most enjoyable dining experience of the trip. From start to finish, everything was seamless - online reservations with Resy (most restaurants here either don’t take reservations or one has to show up in person to reserve and in Japanese. Mimi’s was easy - just a few clicks and moments later, an email pops in from them asking if we need a pickup/drop off for our dinner. At the restaurant (which had a beautiful setting), food was exceptional, service was friendly and exemplary. Major kudos to our Sommelier who was beyond knowledgeable of Italian wines and pairing with the food. Back to the food, the Chestnut ravioli and Duck Pie was stand outs, as well as the coconut pavlova dessert. A shame we dined on our last night, would otherwise be back there again. Definitely on my next ski trip here....
the wine was incredible.
The meal that I look forward to the most every year. Chef Kaz and Yuki always put on a superb meal and coupled with great wine and excellent front of house service you couldn’t ask for more. Worth every cent!
Beautiful meal - one of the most enjoyable dining experiences we’ve ever had - even my fuss pot son loved it. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Thankyou
Great food and wines! Fantastic service, Staff were exemplary and dinner was first class
Excellent service, amazing meal!
Great place with good foods especially the staffs at the restaurant are nice and professionalism.
Super meal! one of the best. Chef Kaz gets better each year. Kids meals are huge, and like a lot of other places ,not out of a packet. Wine list is good and well priced service was outstanding. Its not cheap but I got more than I payed for IMO. will come again and again. great restaurant!!!
Thanks for the nice New Year dinner! This is becoming our tradition every year when we gather our family and friends at Hakuba. This year we had an especially large group hence we were assigned our own private dining room. Couple of first impressions to share: 1) purely personal preference but we love the original dining room design with a darker tone more than the private room’s neo-Japanese decor; It changes the character of the place completely; 2) the bathroom to the right does not come with a handwashing basin which feels like a curious omission; 3) we like the menu but overall taste of the dishes was a notch down from previous years. Not sure if this has to do with the more adventurous choice of saucing (it felt SE Asian influenced like bean paste(?) in the appetizer and wild duck instead of the more traditional saucing. Again this could be personal preference but the saucing felt poorly integrated with the main ingredient. Serving temperature was a bit too low, too, esp for the wild duck main dish. Not sure if this has to do with the large group size. Nonetheless we had a great time at Mimi’s. Just wanna share our honest feedback.
The sauce for the wagyu beef is too strong. It masked the natural beef taste. It's a waste on such a good quality Shinano beef. We had Shinano beef without sauce at another restaurant. The original taste of the beef was excellent.
We loved the food and wine. Nice international atmosphere.
Excellent food, beautiful service, stunning wines and exquisite venue.
Excellent food and very attentive service! We really enjoyed our meal!
