This was a family Christmas day out at New Lanark Santa experience so I decided to book a table for lunch on the same day. Table was booked for 12.00 o'clock as we had the Christmas panto at 2.00" o'clock. We had to wait 15min to get seated at the table, and just managed to order our lunch about 12.30 but waited until 1.15 before it arrived. Seeing how it was Christmas period we decided to stay and ordered coffee and desert for the children but had to cancel it as it had not arrived at all. The lack of staff was definitely a major impact no one seem to know what they where doing at any given time we eventually had to leave to take the family and kids to the pantomime so ended up just asking for the bill. So disappointed as this was my mum 80th birthday treat.
Half of my family are vegetarians, unfortunately one of them hates mushrooms so was unable to have the Festive veggie option but the waìtress took the time to discuss with her and she had an alternative which she enjoyed; one is vegan and our 5 year old has a nut allergy but waiter and waitress made sure we were all suited and we all had a lovely meal!
The afternoon tea was delicious and the waiter kindly boxed up all the cakes we were too full to eat so that we could take them home. We’d definitely go again.
Food and service is always good but on Friday night I was sat at a different table form usual and there was no wi fi signal at all. Coulds perhaps a booster be installed for the restaurant I wouldn't mind paying more or a fee.
Really annoying that you can hear the wedding venue in the room above...not a very good ambience to set...
Food was excellent. Good choices for vegetarians. Staff friendly and professional.
Better meal than previous evening but still a noisy environment. Staff most attentive initially but disappear towards the end of the meal.
Really excellent food, fine dining at gastro pub prices. Magnificent location. Had a really wonderful evening meal.
Wonderful food, good value and friendly professional staff. Will definitely book again!
The food was amazing, all our party enjoyed the food and the choices were great. Service was brilliant staff were friendly and attentive.
We went to the Mill One Restaurant on a Saturday lunch in November 2019. We booked online and decided to go for the restaurant as the menu was more appealing. Unfortunately we were given the bar menu which is the typical Scottish pub menu (nothing wrong with that but we did not want pub food). Although the food was good, the service was simply awful. The waitress simply could not be bothered to do her job. She was not helpful in any ways and we had to ask for more or less everything ( the menus, the children menus, the wine menu, water, ketchup and sauces, etc.). The service was also extremely slow (two hours for two courses). Once again we had to ask for wine a couple of times and we had the look when they brought the wrong one. The other waiters were much nicer but appeared to be completely lost. We do realise that we just might have unlucky on the day and, once served, the food was good. I just am sad that the New Lanark Hotel got the service at their restaurant completely wrong. They also should specify that their restaurant serve the pub menu on a Saturday lunch time.
1st class food. Well done to all involved.
Nice food , but service was abysmal on the Friday night , left for ages on our own , couldn’t get any of the staffs attention , we had to wait over 45 minutes for our dessert , went in at 6.30 , got out of restaurant at around 9.15pm , so on this basis wouldn’t recommend on a busy night .
Staff are very friendly and polite but there seemed a lack of organisation or management. This didn’t spoil our enjoyment. Good choice of options and atmosphere.
The food and atmosphere in the hotel and restaurant was first class, and the staff were really friendly and professional. I would definitely go back and would highly recommend the restaurant
Most impressive conversion of the magnificent old mill into a comfortable modern hotel.
We both throughly enjoyed our meals and our waitress, Kirsty, was lovely. Her recommendations were spot on when I was torn between two choices for my main course. The food was delicious and I'm sure that we will be returning.
Service very slow. Short staffed.
We went for an afternoon tea. Cakes and sandwiches were great. Got a side of chils aswell... best chips I've had in a while. Couldn't eat all the cakes so staff were happy enough to box them up for us to take home
A first class meal. Service was fantastic by a lovely lady who I wish I had asked her name. The food was excellent and plenty of choice. Relaxed atmosphere with great wine.
We had a problem with one of the courses, but it was no problem to you. It was chance without any trouble and very quickly - thanks very much.
Very attentive pleasant staff. Lovely environment and fantastic meal.
Food was good and staff were excellent
A decent meal served by the team with good service. The layout of the restaurant doesn’t lend itself to fantastic atmosphere. Water served in a plastic jug is not classy.
