About Matfen Hall
Classic and contemporary dining in stately surroundings.
Under our acclaimed Executive Chef, Paul Blakey, and Head Chef, Nick Kleist, our cuisine is carefully prepared using the freshest, local ingredients and in season meat and produce.
Fantastic meal, beautiful setting and everything presented really well. Love the fact that you are seated in the drawing room while you order food and then taken to your table. Lovely touch
Fantastic food and atmosphere
A very pleasant evening as usual. Good food and service in a lovely restaurant. There was a problem with one guest whose phone rang on several occasions and then proceeded to talk loudly. However the head waiter dealt with it extremely well and had a quiet word with her.
We had a classic afternoon tea and a gentleman’s tea tetween us. Both were absolutely lovely! The classic was a sweet fest and the gentleman’s a very lovely comparison. Would recommend to everyone. The gent who served us was friendly, helpful , amenable so very attentive. Thankyou - we loved it and we will come again!
As we arrived, we were directed (once we found staff) to the library. Where we waited. Eventually, we seated ourselves. Once we had ordered and had our meal. We fetched our own box to pack up our food. Then we began the search for the waitress to pay. Once we paid, we were horrified to see a service charge was added. We had received no service at all. We seated ourselves and then searched for a waitress.
Fantastic service & meal. I definitely will be back soon.
all round lovely afternoon tea. however, would have preferred a little more savoury, say one sandwich, and one sweet less.
Really enjoyed our stay at Matfen Hall. Room was lovely!
We had the most amazing overnight stay for our first wedding anniversary with dinner and breakfast in the library dining room. Just perfect, a lovely reminder of our wedding there.
Excellent meal and service, exceeded my expectations...we will definitely return.
Staff very friendly and a lovely atmosphere. Had an amazing time ,will be coming back .
Great customer service, Excellent food, lovely atmosphere in the library restauarant
More than satisfied with the quality and quantity of food.
Amazingly friendly staff provide a warm welcome. Locally sourced food excellent as always.
Lovely stay as always
Superb staff in all departments.
Very nice food and well presented. The staff were friendly and professional. Overall, a very relaxing atmosphere in very nice surroundings
Beautiful place, staff very polite, afternoon tea was tasty and lots of it so make sure you are very hungry when you go
Lovely dining in a beautiful setting. Plenty of staff around to keep us in drinks. The food is plentiful and very enjoyable. Highly recommended
We stayed on a deal which meant dinner B&B and bar bill and wine all for under £170, can we come every week! What a winner
FIRST CLASS FROM START TO FINISH.
Fabulous place, great food and wonderful service.
Had a lovely time but would have liked to see a Christmas tree in the library
My wife and the lady at the next table had to send their steaks back as they were ridiculously salty. They were replaced free of charge. Breakfast did not seem to be up to your usual standard and we left most of it. Not so keen on the "make your own toast " system.
