At Heckfield Place we believe that the very best tasting food is locally and bio-dynamically grown. Using a pared back style of cooking we strive to allow diners to experience the excitement and immediacy of food served straight from the earth. Marle is open for reservations to both residents and outside guests.
Faultless menu, top notch cooking, brilliant staff and beautiful surroundings.
Fantastic night, just would have liked a beef/ steak option on the menu as meat options were weaker than previous menu (when we came in September)
Very impressed by your staff who were not only very knowledgeable when answering questions (and explain g to me in detail how a dish was cooked) but who all went out of their way to be friendly and courteous
virtually empty so no atmosphere. Left in reception area with no menus while we had a drink. Uniforms very strange and slightly out of place in such a smart and expensive place. Food superb.
Our first visit and we had a wonderful evening. The food was excellent - individual elements beautifully cooked and the whole dish making up a well integrated and excellent plate. The service was first rate without being over attentive. I have already told some friends they must visit and we will certainly return
Really excellent meal with efficient but unobtrusive service. Atmospkere slightly dulled by some people having working meetings with laptops et al in the hotel's formal restauarant and dress code seemed to be ignored. Will visit again for dinner
The food was fresh and ‘simple’ but had an incredible flavour. Utterly delicious.
Our second (restaurant) visit, and yet again flawless. Quite an achievement for a new team...
Food amazing and the service spot on. Staff very friendly. The grounds are a beautiful setting for this stunning 5 star hotel. The dining room is spacious and comfortable. The wine list comprehensive and thoughtful. The ingredients grown on the premises or carefully sourced. The bread is the best bread I have ever eaten. Can’t wait to go back.
We were booked in for a pre theatre lunch at 12.30 for a 14.00 viewing. I advised the waiting staff of this but our lunch only just finished in time. We had to rush out sweet and no time for coffee. We did have coffee during the viewing.
Fabulous. You have all done an amazing job and the food in Marle was devine.
The restaurant itself is very nice and the staff are friendly and courteous. However, there is a lack of atmosphere, such as no subtle music. Also, food portions were quite small, even for fine dining. The other issue was that we got rather wet in the rain, as the car park is a fair way from the restaurant itself and poorly lit. I do not like to complain, but if these things could be improved I would enjoy visiting on a regular basis, as the setting is beautiful.
The cauliflower dumplings were very good and the walnut tart was so delicious. The sides were a little pricey. £9 for a few salad leaves. Kerry was our waitress and she was amazing. Very professional and attentive. My water glass was constantly being topped up. She was very friendly and came across as being very proud of where she worked. Wonderful lunch. We also did the morning garden tour and Liz was fantastic. So knowledgeable with lovely warm personality.
We had a 5.45 booking and we were the only ones in the restaurant, which affected my rating for atmosphere. The food was lovely, but our initial waiter didn’t take us through the menu, nor did the sommelier take us through a wine pairing as I saw was done with other later tables. I also felt the restaurant manager was not particularly friendly. We weren’t rushed with the food, but nor were we encouraged to stay, in fact it felt like we were pushed to leave. We were finished by 7.15 which felt rushed for a dinner costing £160.
Restaurant to quiet, we were the only diners for half the meal, background music would help. Staff were lovely. Menu to restrictive and should be on web site. Lacking pre dinner drinks area Outside should be flood lit. Hopefully will improve as a really good restaurant is badly needed in the area.
excellent friendly staff and the food was superb, Valet parking would have been a nice touch.
The Restaurant and all others areas of the Hotel and smart and coordinated but relaxed. The staff are friendly, very attentive and helpful. They were informative as they were able to talk about Heckfield Place and it history. The food arrived promptly and was hot where required. The menu selection was varied to provide plenty of choice, but at the same time, not too much as to confuse. The dishes that we had were all very enjoyable. Overall a very pleasant experience and one to re-visit again.
The food was excellent, inventive, well prepared and super tasty. The restaurant is beautifully designed with a lovely view over the gardens and the lake. Staff we incredibly service minded and charming. We will be back.
Excellent in every way
I would have liked to have given 5 stars for everything because the property and the atmosphere both deserved that. Service however was a little slow and I would have liked more choice on the menu. I am presuming that these are teething problems and I will definitely come back again
I absolutely loved everything about the hotel and the restaurant. Our waitress couldn't have been nicer and it was her first day so although she didn't know exactly what was what on the menu she was so charming and helpful that it didn't matter at all. It was my friends birthday and the cake you made for her was one of the most delicious things I have ever tasted. I will recommend to everyone I meet. Tanya Rose
Delicious and inventive, modern, sustainable and organic. Breakfast least favourite of the meals we experienced. Loved the lunch & dinner menu, would like a couple more vegetarian dishes main course options.
A relaxed, informal, pared back dinning room beautifully decorated for the season. The food and the restaurant were perfectly complimenting autumn. It was a multi sensory experience- like having autumn on the plate. An excellent lunch!
Generally - a lovely evening. I was a touch disappointed at the ambience when we first arrived - No music, no bar area for cocktails (could have been in that area between the reception and the dining area), felt like we were seated in a thoroughfare with people walking through in their robes between their rooms and the spa... not ideal when taking my wife out for a birthday supper.
This is a gorgeous venue and a really lovely dining room. Peaceful and light. The food is outstanding. The service is also excellent. The 3 star rating for the service has to do with the fact we waited 10mins at the front desk to get our coats back without anyone helping us. I then had to go outside (it was freezing without my coat) to find someone who then asked me where my coat was...! We eventually opened each cupboard in turn to find them. After which the blond woman having a meeting with someone behind us this whole time stood up and started speaking to a staff member - turns out she worked there and was a manager of some sort and had been sitting there the whole time knowing we were waiting and knowing there were no staff at the desk! Not very helpful or the sort of lack of attention I would expect from a hotel of this standard.
