Food was Excellent
Outstanding food, great service. Excellent value for money. Will look forward to returning.
Starter lentil soup felt like it had been watered down chicken meal was amazing sirloin steak mediocre .Cheese on the dessert menu was rock hard ,I had expected better
Despite the fact the restaurant was nearly empty our server attempted to sit us next to the front door (which was extremely drafty and busy as it is also a hotel entrance.) The food was average and our steaks were not prepared correctly. We had to ask several times for the bill.
Not up to the standard I have had in the past. The afternoon tea was so much poorer than what I have had before, I have been several times this was the poorest. I have always enjoyed being there,I meet a good friend and we can relax and enjoy the afternoon.
Good food in lovely surroundings
Starters were okay, mains were very small and what we did have had no flavour on one dish, the other was undercooked The cheese board was dumped down on the table with no explanation of types of cheeses- and we saw the exact same cheeses out for everyone to choose and handle at breakfast the next day! Very little atmosphere and restaurant half empty on a sat night! Very poor standards for what I expected to be much better. Very disappointed overall given we have eaten at many good quality restaurants- this was definitely in our bottom three.
When arrived waiter asked if we would like water my husband said yes please tap water When the bill came we were charged £3.95 for the water and a £6 SERVICE CHARGE when asked about these charges was told didn't have to pay them so why put them on bill SHOCKING won't be back
Been a big fan of MPW for several years now, but felt slightly disappointed with the overall quality and experience on this visit - not sure if this was because we chose the special offer. Still good overall though and a great price for the deal.
A most enjoyable Saturday afternoon with my friend
I purchased the itison deal for afternoon tea for myself and my mum. It was ok. Nothing special i felt. The sandwiches were not great and the cakes were nice. The best bit was the fizz. It was lovely. The service was good but it was very quiet. The service charge added on was ridiculous which i askedto be removed. This then made me not leave a tip as feel that is quite rude. I wouldn't buy the deal again nor would i pay full price for that afternoon tea.
What a great way to spend easter sunday. Setting, staff and food was lovely. Will definitely be back!
I was really disappointed with my meal. I asked for vegetables instead of fries to be told there were no vegetables. I asked for salad instead and got a few strings of lettuce on the plate. The steak was ordered medium and came rare. I asked for it to be cooked a bit more however still red when I cut into it. I ordered fillet to avoid disappointment, however this wasn’t the case. I bought several £100 grift vouchers as Xmas gifts for my family and only hope they didn’t have the same experience.
I was expecting a bit more for our afternoon tea than what we got. I know it was an offer but felt you skimped on the food. We were first in, the sandwich section of the tea wasn't presented that well. Have seen nicer teas for similar prices. Not sure I would go back.
I took my daughter for afternoon tea and asked for plain cheese sandwiches for her. Unfortunately I was taken quite literally and that is all we were given. Had I been advised what the selection was I could have gauged what she would have eaten. Still had a lovely afternoon though.
Great meal all in, food was lovely, I did advise that my carrot cake was completely burnt and the waitress took it away and didn't mention it again, I would have expected a response, but the starter and steak were delicious. Bar staff were lovely and very attentive.
We were left sitting for 30 minutes on arrival without anyone even asking if we would like a drink. The staff then argued over who should be seeing to us and the whole experience was tainted by rude staff and mediocre food. Would not recommend and will not go back
The food is great, but the drinks seem to be an issue. The staff do not communicate what I have asked the bar tender. This is the 3rd time in a row that we have been to mpw in 4 months and have had issues with drinks. This time I had asked for a lemon drop martini and got a vodka martini and a separate lemoncello. Some education with the servicing staff is needed
Booked afternoon tea voucher. Previous visits to the restaurant have been very good but this visit was disappointing. Service was very poor, only one person trying to serve all tables in the restaurant. After 20 minutes with nobody asking what we wanted, I asked to be served the glass of bubbly that was included with the voucher and was told by the server that he was very busy but would get to us. The staff were nice but service was really poor.
They forgot to put main meal order in for 1 of our party resulting in her eating on her own as the other 5 had to eat their food or it would get cold Then after that they put a service charge on our bill
Had afternoon tea, very disorganized staff. Was given 2 teapots with no lids, told they had ran out of lids!!!! Just after this the table next to us left and I asked if we could have lids now so we could pour tea without it going all over the table/hands. Stupidly thinking it would be washed and given to us but waitress just took them off teapots and put them on ours. It was so crazy we had to laugh!! Got with Itison voucher so didn't pay full price, but sandwiches tiny, only 2 each with cocktail sausage roll. Compared to other afternoon teas I've had this was disappointing. Staff clearing table before we were finished, probably due to them running out of plates, teapots etc. I bet Marco Pierre hasn't had afternoon tea there.
Service was superb
Have been a few times and food and service have been first class. Personally I would like to see the menu changed on a more regular basis.
