About Malmaison Brasserie - Liverpool
Description brought to you by Manchester Confidential:
Malmaison's globe-trotting restaurant
MalMaison made a name for itself in the noughties by offering a cool take on urban chic and Liverpool’s city centre branch is no different. Overlooking the regenerated docks area, the contemporary restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel features slate floors, exposed pipework and warm, brown hues. On the menu, meanwhile, Asian influences join steaks and burgers for an upmarket brasserie feel. Starters could include slow roasted tomato soup with cheese fingers or chicken liver parfait with fig. Mains are designed to comfort rather than wow; sesame-crusted tuna, for example, pan-fried sea bass with chorizo or steak stroganoff. As at the hotel chain’s Manchester hotel, meat is a bit special. There’s a well-sourced grill menu that includes steak burger, aged Black Angus New York steak frites and a juicy rack of lamb. Sup Mal ‘Plonk’ or French Viognier from a list that’s catered to everyone from Alexi Sayle to long-haired lovers from Liverpool.
