About MAD LAB
MADLAB originated as a series of hugely-popular evening events held within 3 AA Rosette-awarded Glasgow restaurant Cail Bruich: when each section in the kitchen was given free rein to create their own dishes, based upon the freshest seasonal produce from Scotland’s natural larder.
In keeping with the ethos maintained by Cail Bruich, dishes have been designed around seasonal ingredients and will evolve regularly throughout MADLAB’s residency.
In contrast to Cail Bruich’s more classical approach, MADLAB will pioneer an enhanced casual dining experience whilst exploring experimental cooking methods within the Acid Bar, SWG3’s café restaurant space.
food was a delightful adventure, drinks were dangerously delicious and service was fabulous. Loved the vibe at the acid bar Would highly recommend and come back again Thank you
Amazing food and great service. Would definitely recommend.
This was our first visit to Mad Lab at the Acid Bar. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming and provided great service. The menu was far more comprehensive than we expected and offered an exciting range of dishes that were seasonal and presented in an imaginative way, combining interesting flavours and ingredients. Portions were generous and reasonably priced. Our only reservation was having a couple of dishes arriving very close together and us having to eat more hurriedly than we would have liked so as not to let them get cold and spoil. Well worth a visit!
A little "out of the way", but well worth the find. Fabulous food, really nice service. Wine list a little restricted--nothing from the new world.
Absolutely outstanding. Absolutely fantastic food and service - could not fault it.
Had a great time! Been to pop ups at acid bar before but mad lab was great! The duck bun was to die for and our waitress(didn’t catch name) was so sweet and very attentive - shame they weren’t busier as would have provided a better atmosphere but was still a great time and would definitely return!
Great atmosphere, attentive & knowledgable staff and tasty food in particular the asparagus and monkfish :)
Great food and great service. Will be back next month!
Delicious incredible food. Thank you!!
Overall disappointing! The food was tasty but cold & underseasoned. I expected more perhaps from Cail Bruich after reading fantastic reviews about the place! The scallops were slightly undercooked, it was a poor combination with the wasabi Or whatever that spicy sauce actually was. Overpowering flavour which takes away from the scallops - not good. The monkish was cooked well, loved the burnt lime and richness of the satay sauce - again underseasoned, I had to ask for sea salt! Oh, & why was this not served with a spoon? The sourdough was served with butter laced with some sort of a meat - I can’t remember what the waiter advised but I’m a Pesci & I added that note to the booking! The waitress who was a chick was sweet & attentive! A few others minor things to be painfully fussy - no salt or pepper on the table and I had to ask for salt 🙈 and was advised there was none - no balsamic or oil apparently according to the waitress, how do people eat sourdough? One will never know - the waiter dumped our wine on the table - HELLOOOOO! Is he not there to serve us? I then spilled half it on the table whilst trying to pour wine for the girls - no real explanation of the food or concept which was ashame - it was busy, you need more staff Ok, hope my comments and feedback help! However, after my perhaps obnoxious commentary. I would like to try it again, I know it is early days for you!
Amazing meal at Madlab. 'Superwaiter' John made our night. Food superb and great concept with the sharing plates - no food envy! Cant wait to come back!
Fantastic dinner-food was amazing. As always it was tasty, surprising and great combinations. We tried every dish and loved them all, become a convert to raw meat and saki. Service was impeccable. Loved the knowledge and enthusiasm of the GM Guy.
Fantastic brunch menu. Went for the veggie option and it was excellent. Great quality of food and very good value for money. Staff were great too.
I can’t deny that the food was delicious, however the portion size was ill advised. We ordered four small plates and a snack, however I would suggest this was similar to a small starter... be sure not to be hungry when you arrive. Also we feel that we were misled regarding water, naturally living in Scotland we would be happy with tap water however without being advised we were served a bottle of highland spring at the cost of £4. Myself and my companion regularly dine in the many eateries Glasgow has to offer, where it is common place to be served a jug of water for the table. Whilst this does not seem a huge sum of money, we felt that it was a sneaky way to increase our bill, and very underhanded. It is such a pity that our experience was dampened by poor consideration of customer needs.
Service from Jenny was excellent. Cocktails and wine were delicious and good value. The food was, on the whole ok but the portions were extremely small, even for tasting plates. We spoke to FOH manager, John, about this and he was very dismissive of our concerns. His response was that no one else thought so. A great disappointment! We were so hungry that we went somewhere else for more food!
Fantastic meal and great service
