We had a very nice experience. The staff were great and appreciated the birthday dessert. Nice touch. The Rump steak was my favourite, very tasty.
On arrival we were not told that all steaks were part of the 50% off Monday offer so we assumed it was only the two cuts mentioned on the menu. Had we known, we'd have ordered different cuts. I ordered a well done steak and it came out red inside. I sent it back and it still wasn't fully cooked through. The steak was also very greasy in taste. The rosemary potatoes didn't taste of rosemary at all (nor could I see any rosemary on them) and also were not crisp on the outside like roast potatoes should be. When the chopping board/ plate was cleared the waiter splattered me with grease. Luckily it only landed on my arm so I wiped it off. I booked this place for our wedding anniversary and genuinely expected a much more pleasant experience.Thoroughly disappointed.
told the host was welcoming and showed us to our table when i said we had pre ordered and didn't understand me so still gave out menu's. after 20 minutes of sitting and waiting i asked the waiter about our food and they didnt have anything on our pre order, saying it wasnt on the system. another 10 minutes go by and still havent confirmed the pre order has been found, first i was told about it was when the starters came out. very slow service with over 2 hours for just starter and main and when i asked how long until desserts, they said they would put the order in now meaning it was 20 minutes away!! 20 minutes to wait for a dessert when we have pre ordered in a not busy restaurant (monday lunch time) is totally unacceptable. Had to leave and cancel the rest. wouldnt be returning for a lunch time meal and only for an evening meal if i want to pay the price and spend the time. devonshire square is beautiful so may be worth a drink in the area instead.
Delicious will defo be back!
I came to Mac and Wild on Friday evening with a friend. We were met by the hostess who wasn't the friendliest. We both liked the decor and the fact that the meat can be seen by customers. We both ordered the venimoo burger and chips. The food came incredibly fast, but so quick that it clearly wasn't freshly cooked. I would expect that for the price we paid for the burger for it be cooked to order. When the burger came out, we were a little shocked to the size of it. Especially after hearing how big the burgers are. It was tasty but nothing exceptional. The main thing that disappointed us hugely was that there we're two beef patties and not one beef and venison as advertised. Our waiter was friendly enough but were again disappointed with how the bill was handled. We had a tastecard which is a huge plus point, especially as it can be used on a Friday which is very unusual. When the bill was presented to us it was a little higher than we expected. When the waiter came over for us to pay I asked to add 3 pounds on to the bill as a tip. He failed to mention that a "optional" tip of 5 pounds had been added to our bill already, this was incredibly hard to spot. I'm not normally one to write reviews or have a moan but I was so excited about coming to your restruan and having been a chef and resort manager, I would expect slightly better practice from an establishment such as this.
Food was fine, limited menu, service slow and seemed uninterested. Would go back, but not top of my list.
Waiters were attentive but managed to get my main course ( monkfish) out of sync with the side ( roast potatoes) so that by the time the potatoes had arrived I had finished the monkfish!
We were celebrating my birthday on Saturday. My friends had an amazing time . Thank you for looking after us!
Good food, service charge high
V friendly and attentive service
Had a fantastic time there! With 14 people, service was great!
A lot of fun! The haggis pops are out of this world...
The steak was very overpriced even for London! I has the Wild Salmon Bowl and was quite surprised at how spicy it was. When I said to the waitress I wish I’d known it was spicy, she said abruptly that there was kimchi in it as if I should have known kimchi was spicy. Sorry. I am not a millennial hipster, so I did not know this.
Food was excellent.
Second time visiting and it was just as incredible as the first time. Hands down the best steak I’ve ever had. The haggis Mac and cheese is to die for! Would highly recommend this place to anyone and I will come back as many times as I can!
Reservation was easy to make (made an hour before dining for a group of four). Service was attentive, but not overbearing and the food lived up to all expectations. The steak, in particular, was off the charts fantastic. I'd readily recommend Mac and Wild to anyone.
great food, great fun
Great food, decent atmosphere, service was a bit slow but great value with the Tastecard.
A great brunch wit excellent service and food
Great activity and food and service were excellent
Beautifully cooked steak and haggis pops were a hit!
I wouldn't usually bother with reviews, however this was such a massive disappointment I feel its needed. From the outset I was actually really looking forward to this visit, I came across your social media posts and loved the look and feel you were promoting. So we booked a table for 4 which was a pain on your website because whole chunks of time are missing (5ish - 8) however if you phone there are available. We booked a dinner table first and shooting experience afterwards. Our friends arrived 10mins before the reservation and went to get a drink at the bar. When we arrived 15min later they still hadn't been served! My friend made a joke of it, however this was the theme for the night. We gave up at the bar and went to the table. We were shown to the table and whilst sitting down a server came over and asked what drinks we wanted. We asked "what do you have?" because we hadn't seen a drinks menu, She said she would get one, 10mins later still no menu, so we got our own. Then a barman came across to ask what cocktails we wanted (With a really bad attitude\chip on his shoulder) we said we didn't request to order cocktails. He then proceeded to push some cocktail, we declined he tutted at me for choosing a beer (Clear water, which is a company who is doing some good in the world, whilst also being a nice beer). He told us to order "those cans" via the waitress. At this point we thought someone was winding us up. After the initial whirlwind of staff members we then didn't see anyone for 15mins even after getting there attention, I ended up asking the lady at the reservations desk if someone could take our order. When finally ordering the waitress just wasn't interested or having a bad day? She wouldn't stop pushing the meat cuts even after telling her what we would like. Food was "Ok" either not cooked as requested or overcooked. I had Haggis pops which had been fried to long and tasted of oil which maybe needed to be changed? The veniburger again was overcooked and dry to the point you couldn't taste the ingredients. That one definitely wouldn't have won a prize. Drinks came up sporadically and we had to ask 3 times for the bottle of wine we ordered. At this point everyone on the table was unimpressed and we decided just to skip dessert and get the bill. Which definitely didn't warrant the price for what we got that night. We then went downstairs to the shooting range. The range and blonde lady who showed us around and got the first drinks in was great. The whole group enjoyed the shooting, however the accompanying music was terrible and loud. Some heavy dance music radio station, doesn't really fit in with the Scottish highlands ambiance you were trying to promote. We finished up and hoped to sample some of the whisky's however it was difficult to get served and there was only 7 people in the bar including 4 of us! Bar staff didn't know much about the whisky you had. I thought restaurants were encouraged to keep people drinking because that's where the mark up is? We had two drinks and left because it was obvious the staff were calling it a night and wanted to clean up instead of serving, never known a bar where it is difficult to spend money! We ended up going around the corner to a nice restaurant and had a couple of bottles of wine and dessert. Love the concept of the restaurant, however in my opinion it appears to be poorly executed and managed. You are either under-staffed or just have staff that need replacing. Someone needs to quality control what's coming out of the kitchen. You need to encourage customer spending instead of turning tables and being an expensive burger joint.
Everything was great, and even better with a tastecard
