Hamish the General Manager and his staff looked after my guest and me extremely well. We both really enjoyed our lunch, the food was delicious, the wine was very good and the service was excellent. We will both be coming back again soon.
We had our Christmas lunch here. The food took a while to be served but that's understandable as everyone was also there for their Christmas meals. The food was good but the portions were a bit small, people expected a bit more for what was paid. But overall, it was a good lunch and good atmosphere.
Food is always fantastic and our party had a thoroughly good time feasting upon delights. My only minor criticism is the toilet facilities with a higher capacity required for male and female patrons.
I had been wanting to go to Mac & Wild for a while, and finally got a chance to go. Waitress was lovely, it was her first shift, but she was great. Starters of scotch egg and haggis pops were superb. Mains were meant to be with bacon, and had to be sent back. When they did come back, they definitely were not medium rare, but we didn't make a fuss about it, as it wasn't a huge deal. A bit annoying though. Also, there wasn't much bacon on it. The haggis mac n cheese was insanely good. We LOVED it. Clearly a bit of a theme with bacon, as only after we left did we realise that the dessert of deep fried mars bar sundae didn't have any bacon on it. Really annoying, as I believe we were charged for it, although we didn't keep the bill so I am not 100% certain. Although it was all very nice, they clearly wanted us out quite quickly, as it was busy, and food courses were served in very quick succession. It was only when we asked for a break between the main and dessert than we were able to relax a bit. I would probably visit again, but it wasn't as wow as I expected.
It was very nice and enjoyable time but probably as very busy day very slow service between courses and not enough staff for that period. But would recommend and lovely yummy food and atmosphere - staff were very friendly and helpful too.
Love this place! On bug bare would be that takes a while to get service
The worst dining experience I have ever had., Rudely told that we HAD to vacate the table by half two, but that's when we got our desserts. This is twice in the same month that has happened at your place. Staff all dithering around and chatting to each other. Alcohol served to a teetotaler. Courses brought in a piecemeal fashion, with huge delays between everybody getting their food/drinks. Tiny portions. Cold food - actually cold. When complained about, hot replacement veg arrived well after the main courses were finished. Hollow ice cream. Incorrect bill, showing a course that never even arrived. Staff deliberately ignored us when we left which I thought disgusting. I could go on but to be honest I'm going to save it for the Google review. I thought it the most insulting experience I have ever had out, especially as you had made almost ALL THE SAME MISTAKES TO MY TABLE NOT THREE WEEKS BEFORE. Absolutely, UTTERLY appalling. If I could give you zero stars then I would.
Great food, great atmosphere - really really nice place to be
Our waiter (Brazilian guy) was the best part of our dinner. Really friendly and helpful. Drinks were slow to be made and I was surprised the cocktails were pre-made. The food was mostly good but overpriced for what you get. The toilets were filthy and messy. And so because of these issues we asked to have the service charge removed.
First time visit. We opted for the bottomless brunch. Fab food and fine Prosecco.
Amazing service. Kept us topped up throughout our bottomless brunch
Very poor service. At every point of the visit we had to ask for service, always prompted by the staff doing very little else. Other tables came after us and were served quicker. Only 2 of our party of 7 got the right drink, one only arrived after 3 requests. Bottles of Coke (warm) were left on the table, with 2 few glasses. We NEVER got the water we asked for. The food service was no better, arriving in 2 sections, 5 dishes arrived with the wrong chips, one with NO chips at all this took over 5 minutes to resolve. I had to leave the table to ask for the dessert menu and the bill, as we were being completely ignored. Apart from this the staff, whilst not quite rude, were very surly and unhelpful throughout the visit. A comment I see from another guest at the same time on Tripadvisor.
Disappointing visit. Table of 6, half the main meals came out then took 15 minutes before the last plate reached the table including the sauces that were meant to be paired with the mains that came out which were now cold. Seemed very unorganised and the food porter was horrendous with a very bad attitude dropping two portions of chips at the table.
Average for the price. Service wasn’t fantastic
Deep fried mars bar sundae was excellent. More rosemary on the roasties please!
Tasty food but poor service, constantly told we needed to leave within the hour, they brought food out separately and ended up getting drinks after our food arrived?! Nice bar staff though. Disappointing given the food was very tasty.
The food was delicious - the flavours were all very well combined and had depth. The risotto and roast potatoes were especially commended by the whole group. The drinks were good too- but for the price (£9-10) were too small. The staff were very friendly, accommodating and competent. The room and atmosphere were beautiful, but it was too hot - the heating unit should not have been turned on in a packed room.
Relaxed lunch, good service from everyone there even when dealing with other larger Christmas parties at the same time.
Food was good value, drinks are expensive. Beers are okay. Turkey was good but vegetables not as great.
Really enjoyed our visit to Mac n Wild. Everything was of a very high standard. Loved the food, service was great and dining room was very stylish. My only criticism would be that the house red wasn't that great and could easily be improved. Will definitely be recommending the restaurant to friends
Food and drinks were delicious! and our server was very polite and knowledgeable. Only thing that disappointed was greeting on arrival by the hostess. rather than a hello, welcome, it was 'we need the table back at 2.15' and when we were being seated we were told about the menu while standing rather than once we were settled and sitting down. Over all a very good experience and despite the start we will deff be back again
Staff were very attentive and nice - food was great I now would like haggis pops everyday! This was our departmental lunch but I would like to take my husband so he can taste how delicious the food was. My one regret was getting the deep fried mars bar - candied bacon has no place on any pudding lol. Cocktails were amazing and Moorish and when I asked for a cocktail off the menu I got it without any trouble and that was delicious.
Food was delicious and the drinks were great. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. I would recommend it for a meat eater, if I was veggie I don't think I would like it. Although there are veggie options. Service was relaxing and as we weren't in a rush it was lovely. If you do have a set lunch hour I would let them know at the beginning of the meal.
The unlimited booze for the weekend brunch is great value for money, however the food wasn't great unfortunately. 4 people ordered the Scottish breakfast, however elements were missing from two plates upon arrival of the food and the dishes looked like they had been thrown together in a rush and had then sat on the side for a while before being delivered to our table. It was only when I made the waitressing team aware that the dishes were incomplete that we subsequently received the missing items on a side plate. Such a shame, as I had heard great things about Mac & Wild. There seemed to be an element of disorganisation among the waitressing staff - one minute the staff were extremely attentive and the next minute we went for quite long periods of time of not being served further drinks. Normally this wouldn't bother me so much, but it was made crystal clear to us that we were on a two hour slot. I'm sorry to leave such a mixed review, but overall our table was disappointed by the experience.
Decent food at a good price. Chips too salty! Service was slow for both drinks and food. We had to ask twice for both our drinks and food!
