We loved it! Thought we'd never be hungry again...
Great place with good food
Lovely food and great value for money, restaurant was a little loud for conversation. Bottomless prosecco deal is fantastic
Amazing food let down by atrocious service.
Not much choice on the menu if you don’t like meat or Salmon. They say Scottish food is bad and i guess this restaurant tries to change that perception. I had the Venison which was nice but a bit rare for me. The chips were fantastic, though the rosemary tatties (or roast potatoes) wasn’t very good...some were burnt and they were not consistent in size. My friend had the Vegan burger which was OK. The haggis balls for starters was weird tasty...lucky they came with a nice sauce.
The Scotch eggs are insane you have to order one if you go, the Veni-Moo burger is tasty unfortunately my bun was black on the bottom and cold. Service was practically non existent too not attentive at all it’s a good job the food tastes so good
Sevice was extremely slow and the waitress was clearly tired. Completely forgot our desert which we waited 45 minutes for and barely a sorry when we complained. Service charge should be optional if its like that. Disappointing as it is a nice restaurant. Portion sizes were a little small. Main meal never comes with any side at all so another way to make extra money.
Very expensive, slow service but nice food and atmosphere
Food was pretty mediocre for the price.
Good and comfortable place to dine
Delicious steak, however really shocked that service charge is worked out from the total amount before any discount has been applied
Thank you for accommodating us when our party dice increased by two
The service was poor. We received our food before our drinks. We waited along time for our plates to be removed. The food was average, and very uninspiring and did not look like the poster outside. Unfortunately I would not recommend which is a shame since I work 1 minute down the syreet and always looking for new venues.
Great service from staff members!
Hideous! Called to book and asked if the chips were gluten free, I was told they definitely were. Got to the restaurant and told hardly anything is. Total waste of time and money traveling from Reading especially for dinner. Would never recommend
Food was amazing as always. The best rib eye steak we have ever eaten!
After shooting, we went upstairs to the dining room. Again nice atmosphere, some real thought has gone into the decor. Food didn’t take long to arrive. Tasted great. My only concern, For the money you pay, you would expect to get a little more on your plate. My partner did leave, not hungry, but not totally satisfied.
Having been to the Fitzrovia one, I wanted to take my friends to enjoy the Venimoo burger. As much as the food was good, the experience was less than favorable. One of the party has a seed case intolerance, its only mild but when asked if it would be possible to get a bun without the sesame seeds she was audibly laughed at, and then asked, "Should I check with the Chef?". On top of this, our drinks order took ages, coming after the food. We decided to try some of the cocktails but only 3 of the 4 we ordered arrived once we had already started the meal. Once we realized the 4th one wasn't coming we tried to get the staff attention but struggled to be attended to. I don't know if it was an off day, but that is not the service we would expect in relation to the quality and price of the food.
I think we visited the restaurant on a bad day. The atmosphere was nice and the deal seemed reasonable, however the set menu does not include chips etc which are then £3.50 on top. Even though I’d booked the set menu I had to ask for it. We waited for over an hour for starters. I complained and then suggested a free drink would be a good idea. We then waited for our mains which again took a long time. We had to ask for more drinks, staff were not particularly attentive. The whole experience took a long time. When the bill came it was a ridiculous price for the service that we had had! Having said that upon complaining this was generously remedied by the manager thank you. I think it’s a shame and maybe it was just a bad day, because the food was nice.
Food was reall good but service in all honesty really wasnt. Staff were very friendly and polite but all of our starters were missed and with the mains one of the sides was also missed. It also took quite some time to get the bill and pay. It wasnt a busy day, maybe just an off day!
Would of been good to have been told that the venison wasn’t in season therefore wasn’t being served on the night. We then had to pick from a selection of weights for steaks with My brother in law having a huge amount of fat on his 410g steak compared to mine and my brothers smaller cuts. Overall it was ok but not the best food and disappointing about the venison.
We ordered a rib-eye (550g) to share, truffle mac and cheese, mash potatoes and veg with two craft beers. I have eaten in most of London's best Steak houses such as STK, Hawksmoor, Goodmans, Mash etc, and I can honestly state that M&W more than holds it own. I was pleasantly surprised and I will be coming back,
Whilst the food was good the service was ridiculously slow and we were often forgotten about. I think they had noted down our table number incorrectly as every time something for our table came out it went to the wrong one. The waiter also tried to give me the wrong meal 3 times as he didn’t ask what I was having and then when our correct meals finally came. When our correct meals finally came they forgot one of means and there was no waiter about to get their attention to ask about. If the service was tightened up I’d consider coming back as the food was good.
