About Lupita Central
Offering some of London's most authentic Mexican dining, Lupita Central is inspired by a single charcoal grill taquería, which has drawn hordes of diners from all over Mexico since it opened in 1962. Enjoy views of South American delicacies being rustled up in the island open kitchen, which sizzles with the sound of chefs at work.
Lupita Central has a bright, funky décor. Which is as vibrant as the Lupita menu, which offers everything from Tacos, Tostadas and Enchiladas to Salads, Soups and Totopos.
Lupita Central has an extensive drinks list, some of Mexico’s hard-to-find beers, including Pacifico, Modelo Especial, as well as our much-loved margaritas, made using the best Agave Tequila.
Great food and our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful. Third visit and plan to come again
Brought us meat dish despite us ordering and saying we were vegetarian. Kitchen had "run out" of seitan by 7:30pm. Waitress seemed inconvenienced by the most basic of our requests. Otherwise good food and decent value.
Incredible fresh food! And lovely, very professional staff
Genuin Mexico City cuisine! love it
Delicious, authentic food. Will definitely visit again.
Mushroom Tacos very wet (fall apart!) and too spicy for me
Wonderful place just off the main drag. Excellent food with fresh ingredients.
Food was really nice. We tried new Mexican dishes that we haven’t had before; knowing we could trust the quality. Service was fast, friendly and polite.
We love Lupita and will be coming back ASAP!!!
Enjoyed my first experience at Lupita. It was more than expected and everyone had a lot of fun, the food was great and I will be back.
Plates although good quality were extremely small and pricey. I ordered tacos and they were as small as the starters without much filling in them. Overall I am not unimpressed but also not over enthused by Lupita.
Food was nice, the churros were amazing. The atmosphere was cool. The food came quickly but getting a waiter to take the order was longer and harder and we also had to go up to the till as we were leaving as we couldn't get anyone to bring the bill (despite asking). We could have in fact walked out and no one would have noticed.
I ate at Lupita a few years ago and the food was fine, but what really made me want to come this time was the numerous vegan options on the menu (compared to last time). Unfortunately, just before the first plates came to our table, our waitress came over and told me the restaurant had run out of vegan cheese. I was disappointed, as that's what I had looked forward to in my dishes; I had to cancel my order, and choose other items - basically back to square one of being in a restaurant and asking for vegetarian dishes without the cheese. To be honest, that has put me off from going to Lupita, again. A waiter tried to compensate for running out of vegan cheese by bringing a "complementary" chicken quesadilla; as a vegan, I wouldn't eat that, so if compensating, it should be with a vegan dish. Funnily enough, 10 minutes earlier, one of the waiters brought a chicken quesadilla to our table that was not ours, so maybe this was the same dish that they just didn't know what to do with. The guacamole was good, apart from the section that had way too much salt and lime - it wasn't mixed through properly. Waiters were nice, but they kept bringing dishes to our table that we hadn't ordered and we had to chase for dishes/items they had forgotten.
I brought a group of students on Monday and my time with the students is always busy and hectic. I felt so relaxed at Lupita, the staff were amazing and very helpful and knew exactly what I was looking for when asking for additional things for the tables. They were very accommodating when it came to any slight changes even though I'd sent over a pre-order. Have decided to now take different groups of students here each time as they were ideal. Would HIGHLY recommend for any groups!
Terrible experience. Had to ask to order. Food was cold. I'm a vegetarian and was served my 'vegetarian Enchiladas verdes' but I was given the checked dish instead and my friend was given the vegetarian dish. We walked out. We'd never eat there or recommend it.
Lovely and accompanying staff, thank you for having me for my birthday celebrations.
One of our group was gluten and dairy free and the staff were incredibly helpful in explaining what he could have.
Nice food, great location.
Absolutely awful meal. Food tasted flavourless and bland and reheated. Service was dreadful. Had to wait far too long for a jug of lemon juice, had to ask for knife and fork 3 times whilst the food had been served. Asked for the bill to pay and was about to hand card over when waiter got distracted with another table although they never called him, he was chatting to them. First time I've asked to remove service from bill. Horrible meal, I almost felt too nervous to finish it for fear of getting ill. Only out 1 star because I had to but I'd say no stars. DO NOT EAT HERE, WOULDNT RECOMMEND.
Great food at reasonable prices considering the location and always friendly service. Lots of gluten free options. We will be back - again!
The waitress serving our table was fantastic. She helped my vegan friend know all of the dishes they could have, which made her feel confident in ordering. The food was very tasty (the seitan was so incredible) and everyone all around was happy.
Quite appalled with the quality of services from the front of the house on the day. Aloof, no eye contact, rushed, unhelpful. Not a pleasant experience.
Food and drinks were amazing as usual. Service was rude and impolite, you could feel we were bothering them for the fact to be dining there. I booked my 7 people table at 8, but I've to call to change the time to 8.30 due a misfortune happened. Even though, three of my friends arrived at 8.20, but the other 4 (me included) they did at 8.50 because they were stuck in the tube. What was my surprise when at 8.45 I received a text of one of my friends telling me that the kitchen would be close at 9 and we have to order. I was shock, how could it be possible? No one told me that when I called to change my booking and the opening time was until 10! When we arrived the waiter received us with a lovely '' we are closing in 5min'' not even a good evening or hello!. They rushed us to make the order, waiter informed us that they will keep the kitchen open for our order as a favour despite the closing time far away from there ... you could feel they were pissed at us! Service charge was included in the bill. We decided to pay it, kitchen and bartender did their job very well. I don't think we will come back to Lupita central.
Very disappointing. I reserved several weeks before we came and was given a terrible table in a side corner of restaurant near dish clearing center which was noisy and dark. Our entrees were brought to table before our drinks or starters were and had to be sent back and when returned were only lukewarm. Afraid I won't be booking again!
