About Lupita Central
Offering some of London's most authentic Mexican dining, Lupita Central is inspired by a single charcoal grill taquería, which has drawn hordes of diners from all over Mexico since it opened in 1962. Enjoy views of South American delicacies being rustled up in the island open kitchen, which sizzles with the sound of chefs at work.
Lupita Central has a bright, funky décor. Which is as vibrant as the Lupita menu, which offers everything from Tacos, Tostadas and Enchiladas to Salads, Soups and Totopos.
Lupita Central has an extensive drinks list, some of Mexico’s hard-to-find beers, including Pacifico, Modelo Especial, as well as our much-loved margaritas, made using the best Agave Tequila.
Food and drinks were amazing as usual. Service was rude and impolite, you could feel we were bothering them for the fact to be dining there. I booked my 7 people table at 8, but I've to call to change the time to 8.30 due a misfortune happened. Even though, three of my friends arrived at 8.20, but the other 4 (me included) they did at 8.50 because they were stuck in the tube. What was my surprise when at 8.45 I received a text of one of my friends telling me that the kitchen would be close at 9 and we have to order. I was shock, how could it be possible? No one told me that when I called to change my booking and the opening time was until 10! When we arrived the waiter received us with a lovely '' we are closing in 5min'' not even a good evening or hello!. They rushed us to make the order, waiter informed us that they will keep the kitchen open for our order as a favour despite the closing time far away from there ... you could feel they were pissed at us! Service charge was included in the bill. We decided to pay it, kitchen and bartender did their job very well. I don't think we will come back to Lupita central.
Very disappointing. I reserved several weeks before we came and was given a terrible table in a side corner of restaurant near dish clearing center which was noisy and dark. Our entrees were brought to table before our drinks or starters were and had to be sent back and when returned were only lukewarm. Afraid I won't be booking again!
It wasn't the best mexican food ever, but it was tasty and definitely good value for money. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. All in all, I'll definitely go back.
We didn’t have an enjoyable experience at Lupita last night. Such a pity as it is generally one of my favourite London eateries and I eat there regularly. Lately the service has been poor. The atmosphere on this occasion was so stilted and awkward and one of two of the staff members were very rude. The staff members were all standing around and we needed to call attention every time we wanted something, despite them not appearing busy. They were laughing with each other and telling each other to ‘stop flirting’. I made a mistake with my order and realised immediately and called the waiter to change, he turned away without looking at me and rudely told the chef who huffed and looked at me angrily. I totally appreciate I was in the wrong but there is no excuse for being treated like that. We won’t be returning anytime soon.
Very good meal and exceptional staff and service.
Some staff were very nice but some were rude. Food was fine but nothing special. Got the impression that we were bring rushed through and the aim was to get us fed and out ASAP. I won't be coming back unless I hear that things have improved. Restaurant could definitely do with some noise absorbing materials - it's too noisey.
Lively restaurant serving authentic Mexican food - the best we have found in London :-)
All good. The food and service are great, and the atmosphere very friendly and fun.....
Waitress wasn't very good and the food was disappointing
Our waiter was lovely but didn’t seem to understand much English so ordering became a little tricky!
Being from California, I haven’t been able to find a Mexican place that makes me feel like home. Do you guys have changed that! I’m a huge fan and will be recommending to friends.
A nice change from visiting Italian or Indian restaurants, good location in the heart of London.
Not coming back. It's very expensive for bad service, average food and the place is looking pretty run down.
Very friendly, quick service, a good vibe and very convenient. The food was absolutely delicious too!
Staff were good. Basement eating area had a stale damp smell. We ordered a round of tequila which tasted like water. Doubt I'd book again.
Some plates were better than others, some plates were a bit bland considering it is a “real” Mexican restaurant.
9.6 out of 10- 0.4 taken off for the amount of ice in the jug, but otherwise perfect
Would be nice to have a cheaper option of guacamole for 2 people.
Had a reservation for 12:30. Promptly arrived at that time. Waited for 3 - 5 minutes for someone to come and seat us whilst the cooks stared at us. Once seated we ordered drinks and food including water. We had to ask repeatedly for water. Once the meal was finished we had to repeatedly ask for our bill. It wasn't particularly busy so I can only assume the staff was faffing about which particularly frustrating.
