About Louie Louie
LOUIE LOUIE is a cafe during the day with excellent coffee & homemade cakes serving breakfast & lunch weekdays plus all day brunch at the weekends.
At the weekends, we serve brunch from 9.30 til 3pm, and reservations are welcome up to 2.30pm.
In the evening from Tuesday to Saturday, we transform into a bar & restaurant with rotating Chefs In Residence (read on), cocktails, natural wines and local beers.
Until Saturday 24 February 2018, chef Alex Hutton is at the evening controls in our kitchen! From Tuesday to Saturday, the ex Caravan head chef & his team serve delicious Mexican dishes such as achiote marinated coley tacos, adobo braised lamb quesadillas & mulato rubbed pork fillets as well as their namesake chargrilled sweetcorn. Rico!
Three tacos + a glass of house beer or wine or a soft drink for £16
* BBQ huitlacoche mushroom, tomatillo mojo, raw pumpkin slaw (vegan)
* Achiote marinated coley fish, pico de gallo
* Chargrilled chicken, pickled veg, chipotle crema
* Carnitas al pastor (pulled pork), guacamole, soused red onion
Reservations are most welcome between 6 & 10pm Wednesday to Saturday.
NEW! BOTTOMLESS AFTERNOON TEA. Every day between 3 & 5pm, you can indulge in unlimited tea/coffee & home made cakes & pastries for only £12 per person. Or celebrate a special occasion (or just treat yourself!) & upgrade to include unlimited Prosecco for £25 per person
At the weekends, DJs play through a bespoke vintage HiFi system with the emphasis firmly on great music and excellent sound quality.
Also on Friday & Saturday evenings, our basement bar is open from 8pm for drinks and cocktails til 1. With comfy booths and room for up to 36 seated guests, the space is also available for private parties at no hire (just a reasonable minimum spend; for more details please email [email protected])
I always have really great time at Louie Louie. The staff are lovely but sometimes a little slow with the bill and payment! Personally, I think that the food is really good value for money and delicious. I suppose the only downside would be that the place is too small and so when it's busy it is extremely cramped. (FYI - you will end up sitting so close to the person next to you, you might as well join all the tables together have a massive lunch date!) Overall Louie Louie is a nice place to eat! x
Fresh and interesting Mexican food and lovely friendly service as always!
We were a bit nervous bringing two young kids but it all went very well, certainly enough space for buggy etc. Lovely, attentive staff and very yummy food. Will look forward to going back.
Really great evening and food was fabulous
Delicious food and great service!
Staff very attentive. Changed tables with no fuss, food excellent.
Great food and always something new on the menu - last night’s quesadillas only to be rivalled by the ones I had at a street market in Mexico City a few years ago. Staff lovely too. A local gem.
Good choice on the menu (incl. V and VG, and not too much choice.
Food was delicious and staff were absolutely lovely. Will definitely be coming back here and have already told a bunch of my friends to visit!
The team at Louie Louie made sure my birthday drinks in the basement bar went ahead smoothly - fantastic venue and great selection of food and drinks! Everyone had a fab time! Thank you Chris!
We had some excellent food in a cool and laid back atmosphere.
The layout was more cafe than restaurant so it seemed basic and not comfy. I wasn't aware of the DJ or basement bar so will check those out next time. I want to support local business and want Louie Louie to be a success. The food was not dinner time menu and was like a lunchtime cafe. Elephant could really benefit from nice comfy local places to buy dinner. Mama Thai is great and Pan and Grill. Louie Louie just seems more canteen than restaurant with decor and menu. The food was very nice and the drinks were delicious it's just not what I expected.
Delicious food and unfussy but stylish interior. Great!!
Lovely evening. Delicious food and wine
Best restaurant south of the River. Come down to Walworth Road for an outstanding meal and great experience. We will be back - again and again
The most delicious food! Every mouthful a delight. Don't want to eat anywhere else
Superb food, excellent service and great ambience....in a totally unexpected area! They fill the gap!
Best place on the Walworth Road for a delicious coffee and a slightly different from normal brunch! Love coming here after Park Run on a Saturday morning, especially. Whoever serves you is smiley and kind and the food never fails to be delicious, with the ever changing menu. Love it!!
Great as always. Had the chorizo and black beans, very tasty!
Amazing service food and the owner clearly knows how to run a good business. Keep it up and we will be back :)
Amazing tasty food
Louie Louie is my favourite restaurant. Every single thing (food and drink) is completely delicious, and every member of staff is a really special and lovely person. That's why I chose to come on my birthday! My friends and me always have a great time, and I will come again soon.
A group of 10 of us had a lovely, relaxed evening in the basement of Louie Louie last Friday. Easy to book tables as well as friendly, speedy and helpful service. We only ate a few snacks but very much recommend the aubergine dish!
