About Loch Fyne Oyster Bar,Scotland
The original Oyster Bar and Farm Shop started in a small shed in the lay-by at the head of Loch Fyne in the early 80’s, then in 1988 moved into the old cow byre at Clachan Farm. The thick stone walls of the original building have seen politicians, celebrities, film stars, royalty and visitors from far and wide pass between them. Inside décor and furnishings have evolved from what was initially an indoor picnic area to a restaurant equipped to equal standards found in cosmopolitan locations.
Oysters were amazing, the best we have ever tasted. Brown crab was fresh and sweet. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable
We greatly enjoyed our visit, especially the delicious food and hope to be able to return. Many thanks for an excellent meal.
Fresh oysters, fresh crab, fresh lobster, lovely location, lovely service. Simple. Good.
Why oh why do you play ghastly and intrusive music ?. We were seated a table away from the speaker and could have done without an accompaniment from Oasis and other droning bands. If you must play music, can't you select something a little less annoying ?. John Noble would never have sanctioned piped music. Most people who go out to lunch want to talk and enjoy the food.
Great meal. Lovely staff, great service! Many thanks!
Being food lovers and chefs ourselves we were expecting higher standards of food. Loch Fynne restaurant came recommended by fellow foodies who had an amazing experience dining here. The oysters we have ordered were super cold and dry. They must've been open the smae day in the morning and kept in fridge untill being served in the evening. Starter: Salmon and scallops were great. Main: If we weren't super hungry, making space all day for the recommended seafood extravaganza, the main dish lobster would've be sent back where it came from! The claws were jucy and tender but the lobster way overcooked, therefore dry and chewy. We weren't asked once if everything is fine with the food. The overall food experience was more comparable with a turist trap bar rather than aspiring seafood restaurant.
We booked in for lunch on my birthday after a walk across the mountains at Ardgartan. The food was fantastic and between my partner, I and our two boys we had the smoked salmon selection, scallops, oysters and haddock and chips. We could not fault the food with both boys (8 and 11) trying oysters and scallops for the first time and loving both. When we are next in the area we will definitely stop in again.
Oysters and salmon were delicious, but the waitress did not explain what type of salmon was -3 types-. Cheese board served cold, and thus, lacking taste. Nobody explained us what types of cheese were served. Too expensive for a road bar where oysters are farmed and salmon is smoked. This compared to similar places with same quality and cheaper prices
Fabulous monkfish curry and treacle tart was wonderful. I arrived a good bit earlier than expected for my reservation and was welcomed without issue, so friendly. Will definitely be back
The original and still the best
First time here and will definitely return. Oysters and scallops were amazing and so fresh .
I'm so sorry I didn't get the name of the lovely lady who served us that afternoon as she was the perfect example of friendly, expert, excellent service with fantastic knowledge. She was a delight and made our special occasion lunch one to remember. The food and wine were perfect. Thank you.
Wonderful experience of local seafood carefully cooked and presented. Lovely atmosphere. We will come back soon
Fantastic quality, a stunning location and excellent service.
Service as always exceptional. Food Fantastic. Will definitely be coming back .
I don't generally leave feedback but had to on this occasion. I had requested a table with plenty of space for my pram and a high chair and was so pleased to be seated in an excellent position but not in the back of beyond as other restaurants have done this. The service was friendly and food second to none. Our first try of your oysters was awesome. Thank you for the lovely dining experience. My husband, baby and myself will definitely be back.
They had no record of my online booking and sent our daughter and young grandchildren outside to wait in the car park until we arrived! When I arrived with the booking confirmation and paperwork detailing dialogue with them regarding my request for a good table for our special birthday celebration etc., they tried to blame the online system. It was a special birthday celebration and was ruined by the way we were treated; eventually seated at the far end of the restaurant but couldn't see the view and the food was not good or value for money! We had driven all the way from the ferry at Kennacraig and our guests had driven all the way from Edinburgh and the whole experience was a complete letdown. The waiting staff tried hard but the disappointment could not be overcome. I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Fantastic food and service
A delightful lunch - thanks
Food was truly excellent (Salmon mixed starter, Langoustines & sharing dessert platter) very friendly and helpful staff and overall a very positive experience. Would highly recommend!
Excellent food, perfect service and lovely surroundings...first class.
Food was delicious and service was very quick considering how busy it was.
Excellent service and wonderful staff
Lovely food. Very happy with service and will definitely be back. A bit pricey but found the food fresh and very tasty. My husband loved the oysters. The in laws enjoyed their meal too. Many thanks
