About Locarno Dining Room & Cocktail Lounge
Guy's Restaurant and Bar is located in the heart of the Merchant City. After more than twenty years feeding the cream of the film industry's A list with his Location Catering business, Reel Food, Guy decided that living out of a suitcase was best left to younger chefs and headed home to Glasgow to set up this unique venue.
The exceptionally eclectic menu reflects Guy's personal dining preferences and mirror his passion for cooking. The finest ingredients sourced from many independent producers mixed with simplicity in preparation and sprinkled with a big pinch of Guy's individual flair result in food that just begs to be eaten. Our Aberdeen Angus Beef and Scotch Lamb come from assured suppliers underlining our commitment to our membership of The Scotch Beef Club.
We only use the best produce
The grass fed veal is reared on Sunnyside Farm in Sanquhar and tastes wonderful. Our fish and shellfish, supplied by MacCallum's of Troon, come from the sparkling waters that lick our Scottish coastline.
Nowhere else in the city can you eat sushi, sashimi, mince & tatties, steak tartare or a variety of homemade ravioli at one table. The desserts are all made on the premises including the fabulous ice creams, (passion fruit and olive oil are amongst the favourites), Wonderfully cozy, romantic, perfectly lit, and just a great overall ambiance. An all round fantastic, delightful experience! and with a fine selection of artisan cheese with oatcakes from Pittenweem bring your meal to a perfect end.
Food fabulous. Service excellent
I have been coming to Guys for a number of years and I have to say, I was very disappointed. The market menu has changed. I had the vegetarian tapas, not good. Very stodgy and just didn't get the fried cauliflower, pretty sure it didn't state this on the menu. The service I thought was pretty poor. I had to ask for the drinks list and then the cocktail list. We ordered cocktails and they took so long to come. We just got them and then our first course came. Ideally, it would have been nice to enjoy our cocktails before food. We were also disappointed to learn that the Sunday Roast is now off the menu, a real shame. Overall, I just didn't feel it was the same restaurant, the atmosphere was lacklustre. Sorry.
The Glasgow Tapas was magnificent
Fantastic food, lovely, relaxed atmosphere.
Staff were lovely and very helpful. Not too keen on the menu. Thought some items overpriced. Menus a bit confusing too. We had 2 menus that looked different but were in fact the same. Was very quiet for a Saturday lunchtime and think your pricing and menu is a factor.
A bit quiet but great food, service and duo singing.
Still has Guy's logo at the top of this page! Everything was good with our booking although, the main course took a while and, was only warm when it arrived - suggesting it was forgotten about (?) Decor wise, didn't seem much different, apart from the piano being moved. Liked the hat lights at the front. Definitely will go back
Was quiet while there. We were looked after very well indeed. We thoroughly enjoyed the food. Loved that it was a bit different. We would certainly return.
excellent service - we tried the fish tapas - delicious
Excellent food and service. The dessert didn’t match up to the rest of the meal but we were pretty full anyway! A smaller portion and less well-fired meringue would have been perfect, family recipe or not, I’d have needed a trip to the dentist if I’d attempted to work my way through it. All in all a great experience and will definitely return. Thank you!
So we had the sharing platter and bottle of red. It was amazing. They had a guy on the piano and a girl singing. Who were also amazing. I will Defo be back
I have been a fan of Guys for years and have visited on numerous occasions so I was disappointed to hear that it was bought over. There was some comfort in knowing that the head chef had bought it so I was looking forward to trying it out. Unfortunately it severely falls far below par in all things - the food, service and atmosphere. The menu has been reduced although three are many of the same options as before. We had scallops which were no where near the size or quality as before and was under seasoned. The fat on the grilled lamb rack was not rendered properly so instead of being crispy it was just greasy and slimy even though the lamb was perfectly cooked and tender. My friend commented that the peppercorn sauce tasted like it came out of a packet and was very watery. The bread and butter pudding was very small and tasted at if it was microwaved too long at it was very dry and hard. Typically even on a weekday the restaurant would be extremely busy, the fact that it was practically empty when we went this time was evidence in itself. The waiting staff was clearly new starts and were still getting training when I arrived. Why they didn't retain the previous staff is a wonder. All in all a very disappointing visit and unlikely to revisit after so many years of custom. Such a pity.
Delicious meal, friendly staff and even let us choose the music
We hadn't been for a few years and so discovered that Guy's was now Locarno (though website and publicity are not clear on the change.). The menu was largely the same, however, and the excellent service and cocktails as we remembered. Locarno is offering proper food, attentive service and great value.
Only slight negative was being asked if we would like to see the desert menu and then not bringing us one, this isn't always a huge problem but after 20 minutes we had to abandon any thoughts of a desert and just get the bill as we had a show to get to.
Service was brilliant, very polite and eager staff. Food was absolutely delicious! 10/10 Would highly recommend
First time we’d visited since the change to Locarno , Guys was our favourite restaurant ,so we were looking forward to see how it had been freshened up. To be honest the service was terrible, we stood for a while to be checked in and we weren’t even acknowledged by the waiting staff, it took the barman to apologise and ask as to take a seat at the bar whilst we waited. We weren’t told about there being no fillet steak until we actually ordered our food, and the waiter although nice had to go and bring his manager over if you asked anything about the food and we felt when talking to the manager that we were keeping him away from were he had to be. My wife’s mash potatoes were very salty, so much so that she left them basically untouched , I thought when the plates were being taking away they would have asked about the mash but they never. Our waiter also never returned after bringing us our mains, so we were never asked if we wanted more drinks or a dessert. We sat for near 20 mins waiting for someone to come and offer us the dessert menu but eventually decided to grab the passing waiters attention and pay the bill. Overall we we pretty disappointed and we know need to find a new favourite restaurant.
Fabulous food and loved the pianist

First time to Locarno’s and was totally impressed. Had a large family gathering and is was just perfect. Highly recommended!
Excellent service and food as always. Different name, same superb restaurant.
We had a £34 3 course voucher. Food was excellent value for money. Every course was just lovely and well presented. Staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful
