About Lido Restaurant & Poolside Bar
Dating back to 1849, the Lido in Bristol is one of the oldest surviving Lido’s in the UK, allowing year round swimming.
Having closed in 1990, the Clifton Baths, were left to decay for nearly 20 years at which point Arne Ringner purchased the site following a local campaign to ‘save the Lido’. The campaign gained strength when English heritage issued a grade 2* listing to the building which protected it from demolition. Click here to see photos during the Lido’s restoration.
The Lido opened its doors to Bristol and beyond on the 13th December 2008 and has since become a venue for every occasion from daily swims, celebrations and holidays.
The staff were very friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. Service was excellent. Great atmosphere. Food really nice but maybe a little pricey.
It was a fabulous meal and the Lido looked beautiful in its evening Christmas finery.
Just loved everything about it!
Perfect visit from start to end. Warm welcome, coats taken, good menu choices, all dishes Deeeelicious, staff cheerful and attentive. These people can really cook and serve too.
Amazing food. Really friendly, attentive (but not too attentive) and helpful waiting staff. The perfect place for a delicious treat lunch and catch up. We weren’t made to feel hurried at all. Thank you so much for a lovely experience again!
Lovely service. WIne of the Day was excellent. As were Crab Croquettes. Roast Hake a winner.
We chose from the set lunch menu. Each course was delicious and presented beautifully. A proper hidden gem, so glad we've found you!
Amazing food, good atmosphere - would have preferred a table overlooking the pool.
We went to Lido to celebrate my son’s birthday, who is a Bristol uni. We had a fabulous lunch, the food was delicious and the atmosphere fun and lively in a great setting. We highly recommend it and will definitely go back.
From my initial call to the evening of our dinner the service was excellent. I have used the Lido on a number of occasions for work lunches and was pleased that it was equally, if not more, successful for our dinner event. Many thanks to all your team.
Great food, wine and setting. Loved it!
Lido is an excellent dinary spot . It is an iconic building well restaured. However, I was particularly disappointed with my meal. I ordered the salmon and the potatoes. Some of the potatoes were hard and worse of all they came swimming in butter( it was too much even for a butter sauce ) . For the dessert, it was a chocolate cake with prunes. We could not taste the prunes and the tart was far too sweet and really flat. I believe that it was an off day in the kitchen.
Excellent meal with interesting food (some of which needed translating for us!) and friendly service.
Really enjoyed our visit to the Lido - great food (innovative & delicious) and such an unusual and interesting location.
Be prepared to splash out on what was easily the best meal I have had all year. A unique setting with exquisite food, mixing some incredible flavours. Probably best for smaller intimate meals, though there is a nice bar area downstairs for grander occasions. A very nice treat, will be going again.
I was with a friend with limited mobility. I was astonished that we were directed upstairs as we had been before and sat downstairs. The waiter ‘said no’ so we went upstairs with difficulty. It was too embarrassing to make a fuss. You clearly don’t take your disability obligations seriously. We were having the cheaper pre 6.45 menu which was ok for the price but would have been outrageous for the normal price menu. 2 of us had Cocido stew where finding the pork was difficult as was the potato which was supposed to be in it. Rather bland too. The squid was extremely nice, tender and the squid ink risotto was delicious. Shows you can do it. A pity as the last time we visited it was a generally very good experience. We would not recommend it or go again. A different attitude from the young, healthy young man towards an older disabled woman would have been welcomed. Staff training?
Convivial and stylish venue for a get together
Limited choice for vegetarians but the food is original and very tasy
Dishes were inventive, original and excellent. Service was personal and relaxed Good atmosphere - good acoustics, light and airy
Enjoyed a lovely afternoon lunch here with some good friends. Excellent service and food was delicious. Will definitely be returning here in the future.
Wonderful evening! Waiter was brilliant, great advice, perfect timing. Oasis in Bristol!
We have visited previously but this time brought friends who aren't local. They too thought that the menu was exciting and interesting, tempting all of us outside our comfort zones. We loved the relaxed atmosphere and the beautiful, unusual setting, helped along by excellent service from knowledgeable, helpful and cheerful staff. And it was good value.
Great lunch, great wine, great atmosphere, gorgeous setting.
Delicious food and great service
