About Lido Restaurant & Poolside Bar
Dating back to 1849, the Lido in Bristol is one of the oldest surviving Lido’s in the UK, allowing year round swimming.
Having closed in 1990, the Clifton Baths, were left to decay for nearly 20 years at which point Arne Ringner purchased the site following a local campaign to ‘save the Lido’. The campaign gained strength when English heritage issued a grade 2* listing to the building which protected it from demolition.
The Lido opened its doors to Bristol and beyond on the 13th December 2008 and has since become a venue for every occasion from daily swims, celebrations and holidays.
Took my family, we had a fabulous time and were looked after like royalty. Outstanding and delicious food coupled with professional and friendly service; couldn't ask for more. Thank you for a truly memorable evening and for making us feel so special.

Good first experience of lunch at the Lido.
For being a high class restaurant and being Vegan friendly, I was disappointed with the minor selection of food on offer. Also I had informed the Lido of my dietary requirements and thought there would be a bit more than 3 things to choose from (2 mains and 1 x starter). Very disappointed and especially as I had a lovely experience at the Thames Lido the week before. I would not visit again on the poor food choices.
Although I swim here frequently, I don’t often eat at the restaurant. The service was fantastic - the staff went above and beyond for my friend who has a food allergy, creating her her own menu. They were attentive enough, but not pushy. The food as always is outstanding and all three courses were delicious. Easily my favourite restaurant in Bristol.

TBH, we make The Lido our Go-To-Venue for special occasions and last minute "hope they have a table". The food is outstanding the staff are sublime and having used the pool some 40+ years ago, when I lived next door, it is just such a great place and a hint of nostalgia. Thanks to all for making our Christmas Eve lunch, so special.

Lovely place, great wine choice, but completely underwhelmed by the food unfortunately.
Lovely place. Pricey - but usually worth it for atmosphere & dining experience. However, this time I ordered a prawn rice dish & the rice was not just ‘al dente’ but almost raw. It was crunchy, and not at all pleasant to eat. I told the staff, they were very gracious and took it away, offering me something else instead. I asked for salmon. When it arrived the skin of the salmon wasn’t just crispy, but black & burnt to a crisp. I was surprised, but as my friend and dining partner had by now almost finished her meal, I said nothing and accepted it. I then found a human head hair in my vegetables (it had a root...). My friend informed the staff (I wasn’t going to say anything) who, again, were very apologetic and pleasant. By this point I wasn’t going to ask for yet another meal as we’d have been there all night, so I said not to worry and continued eating (though the idea of finishing a meal I’d just found someone’s hair in wasn’t that appetising). When it came to getting the bill, my main was (eventually, after a mix up) taken off. On reflection though, I don’t feel this was enough of a gesture to make up for the series of unfortunate events, mistakes and embarrassing (for the lido) mishaps that had occurred over the previous 2 hours. As a matter of course I would not expect to pay for a meal that was uncooked/burnt/had a hair in it. Any one of those things alone could have justified removing the meal from the bill. In addition, my friend had to eat her meal alone, and I finally had mine after she’d finished eating. I really feel that more should have been done to make up for the total debacle that was my meal. The Lido has a good reputation, presents itself as one of Bristol’s best restaurants (& has the prices to match). It needs to do more to keep that reputation - especially when things go wrong - and even more so when things go that wrong. Overall I was not satisfied with the way it was managed - though staff were polite and appeared suitably embarrassed, I’ve managed restaurants myself and would not have hesitated after that to offer a more significant gesture of compensation than the one I was given, such as a bottle of wine on the house. On that basis I will be very unlikely to go back, or to recommend it.

We had our team Christmas lunch with you and it was superb. Loved the menu choices and our vegetarians were as happy as our carnivores! Lovely service and setting. Surprised we were the only larger group on the day. Sides were delicious but very expensive!
The staff were very friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. Service was excellent. Great atmosphere. Food really nice but maybe a little pricey.
It was a fabulous meal and the Lido looked beautiful in its evening Christmas finery.
