About L'Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa

A wonderful dining experience
Booked online for afternoon tea but when there was no record so hastily found us a table. This was going to be on the terrace which would normally be fine but the soaring temperatures meant cakes would soon melt. We had to ask for a table elsewhere. We were only offered the charity afternoon tea.. When asked the waiter said this was the only one being served. However when we were seated elsewhere the waiter offered two other types of afternoon tea! After that the food was lovely and service great so enjoyed it.

On arrival I asked for our sandwiches to be made without butter. We were told it wasn't possible (agree I could have advised in advance however it didn't specify dietary requirements and I thought we would be able to advise on arrival). After about 30 mins or so, the waiter came over to apologise for the delay and explained that the chef was struggling to accommodate patrons on the terrace. We waited for 45 mins in total without our sandwiches (which was fine as we were happy relaxing), however due to the delay we would have expected our request (no butter) to be honoured, however when the sandwiches did turn up it was as if a whole tub of butter had been used. The most butter I have ever seen on sandwiches (especially for afternoon tea) in my life, which meant I spent ages trying to scrape off the butter and just couldnt enjoy it. There was literally a whole plate full of butter and bread. So disappointing. The waiter even commented! The cakes and scones however were amazing. It would also have been nice to specify a type of coffee rather than just filter. At one stage we had to request a new cup as all the grains had come through (no filter)? Just a real shame as was a treat for us. Even with the deal (2 for 1) i dont think we would return, there are so many better options out there swevice wise for the price.
The food was excellent and I couldn’t fault it. However, there were several other issues with our experience, which I have outlined below: 1) We were left in a room and barely attended to by anyone. The waiter forgot to take our tea order so we were sat for a while without a drink. At the end of the meal we waited for a good 15mins before someone finally came into the room so I could ask for the bill. 2) The second pot of tea that was brought to the table tasted of cleaning chemicals and was undrinkable. 3) There was a staff interview being undertaken on the table next to us which ruined the atmosphere, It was very unprofessional and I also think that it was very unfair on the candidate. 4) My girlfriend and I both dislike smoked salmon. When the waiter was listing the type of sandwiches, we were pleased to hear there were no smoked sandwiches on the menu. However, two appeared on the plate when everything was being served. We didn’t eat these and the waiter questioned it. He was insistent that he had told us about these before the meal and was very argumentative on this point. These 4 comments are only tiny points. The actual food served was excellent. However, the reason I would go to a Handpicked Hotel is because of the excellent attention to detail and on this occasion it was incredibly disappointing.
Back again and enjoyed the afternoon tea yet again. Staff very attentive and generally very pleasant. Look forward to coming again
Excellent afternoon tea, very good choice. I would advise having one traditional and one savoury if 2 of you are together.

When we arrived there was some very confusing communication on whether we could sit outside. Luckily we were able to but it was made into a bigger deal than we felt necessary. Service was slow and no one checked on us through the sitting and we were constantly trying to get the waiters attention to try to get our order taken.

With it being a bank holiday our outlets were very busy and the team had to check if they were able to accommodate you in between those who had bookings for the Terrace to fit your group in, which I am glad they were able to do. There was a large party on another table and a couple of their guests were very loud and inconsiderate other people trying to enjoy their afternoon tea. The staff were preoccupied with these guests and their attention to the remaining guests slipped. I feel we should have been given the option to eat elsewhere possibly on the veranda. It’s a shame our afternoon tea was spoilt as the food itself was very good.

A wonderful afternoon tea! Everything from the delicious finger sandwiches and the scrumptious scones with clotted cream, strawberry preserve, Jersey black butter and lemon curd to the delightful selection of beautifully prepared cakes and trifle were a true pleasure to eat. All perfectly served and explained to us by our very efficient and friendly waiter.

The view from the room where we ate was outstanding. The food was fresh and delicious. Our waitress took care to explain the order, as we ordered one savoury and one sweet afternoon tea. It was beyond our expectations. Food was plentiful, so we were able to take a 'doggy bag'. Have already recommended and will go again next visit to Jersey.

Absolutely amazing. Bought my mum a voucher for Christmas for afternoon tea and she loved it. Amazing selection & the champagne was lovely. The waiter, I think his name was Olly, was funny & made the experience so comfortable and enjoyable. Will be back in the summer!
