About LEAF on Portland Street
LEAF on Portland Street is nestled in a vibrant neighborhood in the very centre of the bustling city. Housed in the iconic former Riba and Cube gallery, it is an inspiring and intimate space, bringing the very best food, tea, music and good times to Manchester.
Nice relaxed atmosphere, we enjoyed the music! I chose LEAF for my team lunch as it has a good menu to suit all tastes and dietary requirements. I had the vegan breakfast which was delicious, crispy squid and bubble and squeak were also highly rated. The pure wellness tea was awesome!
Good food and friendly service.
Excellent place for food. The service provided by the staff was also excellent. Food was also great tasting
I had such a lovely time celebrating at Leaf. The service was outstanding which was especially good as we were a large group. Will definitely think of Leaf again when booking for celebrations. All the guests were very happy and complimentary about the food. All the staff we spoke to were lovely and friendly and really accommodating. Tom who helped arrange the meal was also always extremely helpful whenever I emailed him. Thanks so much! Will definitely see you again soon 😊
So helpful great food we loved it
We unfortunately waited 35mins for our lunch order - 2 sourdough and toppings. We felt this was a very long wait. The food was lovely though, although we felt the portions could be a bit bigger. For example 2 pieces of sourdough bread per portion
couldn't fault the service, quality of the food and the tea! Will be making a retunr visit soon
Great menu - food was delicious. Service could've been a bit quicker. Will return,
Very disappointing. I've been to your original place in Liverpool as well as the cafe in FACT and enjoyed the atmosphere and tasty fresh interesting food. To be fair this was about 6 years ago I last went but it was a few times and always good. So I was excited to try your new setting. The ambience was awful - freezing cold (there must be no heating at all and it's a huge space with high ceilings so needs to be made cosy) with dingy lighting that does nothing for the ambience. The space itself didn't flow and is a wasted chance to make a lovely old building a great place to eat and drink. Then the food - boring and mediocre. Some of us shared the mezze board which looked like an array of cheap packet bought fatty nibbles plonked on a board with boring bread (no sourdough or artisan offering in sight either with the mezze or for my round of toast or my partners eggs and salmon on toast). My partners eggs were cold despite the food coming out worryingly fast. My toast was soggy granary bread and pre buttered. Service was basic - it was v quiet for the peak brunch time on a Sun but it took an age to have our half eaten food cleared. I will not be back and would discourage anyone else. Sadly I won't go back to your Liverpool place if I visit the city either. What went wrong?
Much prefer the Bold Street location, food was very disappointing, sparse and no where near as good as Bold Street. One of us had a sandwich which was mostly bread and no filling... I won’t be visiting this location again.
Breakfast for 6 yesterday, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, service excellent - lovely place, highly recommend!
The spiced green tea was stunning.
Really lovely – food, drink, service all great :)
Great service - thankyou!
Food and drink was lovely. Couldn't fault it. Service was good too. Only slight issue was that we had booked and we weren't asked whether we'd booked. I wouldn't have mentioned it except you're asking for constructive feedback :-)
Great service and delicious food 😊
Always love a visit to Leaf. great selection of tea and gin Food delish.
* Great communication prior to visit * nice that we did not have to pre-order, despite being a large group * a few things were not available eg avo, gluten free sausages - however food that we had was really tasty * super coffee
We had a fantastic breakfast meeting at Leaf which was made better by the amazing Bubble and Squeak alongside great service .... thanks
The menu offers a lot of choice and the food was really tasty. I really like the atmosphere in Leaf and they are always really welcoming and friendly.
We booked in advance for brunch to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I informed you that my wife eats low carb due to medical reasons. The breakfast was ok but no options were provided to replace certain high carb foods - toast, black pudding, potatoes and baked beans, so you charged for individual items - it looked poor compared to full breakfast. There was no cream for her coffee even though it was on the menu for a desert! All the alternative milks offered Such as almond milk contain sugars even though the waitress said they are sugar free - you need to train staff etc. As a Type 1 Diabetic the food was ok but not brilliant. Carb eaters it was great. Service was ok but weren’t told you order and pay for food at bar. All in all an ok experience but we won’t return.
Will be back soon!
Despite booking a table and receiving a reminder email the day before they had no record of a booking. Service was a lot slower than usual and a reminder was needed for a drink that didn't arrive with rest.
Really enjoyed our afternoon tea. Very nice staff and afternoon tea was delicious. Couldn't finish it all!
Pleasant but not great. Staff were nice and friendly.
