About La Zeppa
One of the best inner city bars to indulge in great food & wine around the fireplace
La Zeppa is situated at 33 Drake St Freeman's Bay, directly behind Victoria park market. La Zeppa has the feel of a New York industrial warehouse which has been lovingly transformed into a spacious bar set with wrought iron candelabras, dim lighting on soft brick and a large open fireplace. The music is mastered by local DJs at the weekends; they ensure it is played for their customers each evening, not themselves.
La Zeppa focuses on the fact that people want to enjoy each others company with a great glass of wine and tasty plates, without the constraints of having to book or have a meal at a certain time - it is the ultimate meeting place - a catch up over a glass of wine, a sit down meal or a function for a large group of friends or colleagues.
When you are at La Zeppa anywhere you rest your elbow, your will receive great service, fantastic food, a great wine list and an atmosphere you won't forget.
The food was delicious. It was quite expensive as the portion sizes are very small but the food was very tasty and good quality.
Amazing wait staff. Perfect level of attention without being too fussy. Super friendly and efficient. And those Apple Empanadas were the stars of the night!
Although the ambiance, food and experience was good; I felt that the staff were too pushy. We were more than happy just talking over the last glass or so of our wine but kept being asked if we wanted dessert, if we needed anything else, if we were after another drink. It was early (before 9pm) so long before closing, and the restaurant wasn't busy so there was no need for our table back so I'm not sure why the staff kept approaching us instead of just letting us be. Unfortunate as the rest of the experience was lovely.
Very pleasant experience. Will recommend and be back myself
Service was very slow, appeared to be understaffed. Sangria and food was quite good though.
Short menu but amazing. Really good flavors. Real Spanish/Mediterranean cuisine.
Awesome feed and the staff were just as always, absolute pleasure for a Fathers Day Dinner
The customer service was excellent and the food delicious. Is a beautiful and cozy restaurant
Came here with four friends, we all had a lovely evening. Waitron was friendly and attentive, food was really good.
Great food and excellent service. Will definitely return.
Great food and ambience, even on a quiet Sunday evening in winter
Fantastic food and service. Will happily go back.
Fantastic setting, wonderful service, and excellent food. Couldn't ask for a better night.
Great food and service!
La Zeppa were fantastic in helping me to organise a 30th birthday party and make last minute changes due to bad weather. Incredible Service, great value for money and a great atmosphere!
The food was good and service was good. Although it would be nice to know that the large platters do come in different size as one was really small but the other one really big! Our waitress was super nice and loved the vibe of the place.
We were cancelled last minute 'because the booking system made an error.' I assume a more lucrative booking was made after ours, needing us to be moved. We were very unimpressed.
Overall service good. The platters were good as well. There could maybe have been some additional lights when DJ played, even a small disco light. Overall very good.
Beautiful venue and was actually warm outside thanks to the warmers, would defiantly recommend to have an event here. Only thing I wasn’t happy about was the music, wasn’t really my style I’d prefer a mix of r&b and hippop
We booked to be seated outside, was only told when we got there that it had been booked out for a function. Drinks took about 30 mins to get to us. Food portions where a bit on the small size for the price. Waited about 15 mins to pay at the end of dinner for someone to come and deal with us. Would probably not come back which is disappointing because I was really looking forward to dining there.
Really like the atmosphere vibes. We got a table next to the fire which I would highly recommend during winter. Cocktail menu is so bomb! I ordered the freshly picking and have to say one of the best cocktails I’ve had in a while. Mains took every long but it was a busy night. Curly fries were average. One thing that stood out the most was service and shout out to our waitress who apologised often for our mains taking so long and she offered us free drinks on the house for the wait.
Great food, lovely atmosphere and really well priced.
We were warmly welcomed from the moment we stepped inside the restaurant. It was a Friday evening and the vibe of the room was good. We got a table by the fire place. Food and drinks were served promptly. Tapas portion are good. All the dishes were tasty, but I’d highlight the sesame crusted beef kofta and grilled broccoli. For main dish we had the perfectly grilled lamb rump. Over all it was a satisfying dining experience. We will recommend it to our friends.
