The environment was great Services was poor.. even though there was many waiters, we had to wait over 10 min to get somone. The knowledge of the waiters regarding the food was very poor They won't be able to advise properly since this first time for us.
I celebrated my husband birthday on the 3rd of Jan. We were offered a private lounge and we had one caterer who look care of our every order and wishes. We had ordered Chicken volau vent(yummy) , grilled halloumi (yummy) Risotto crouquettes as starters. In the main course we had spicy seafood paella - which was just perfect....it was chef recommndation. But its not for one person. it could be shared by 3 people. Then we had ordered 2 chicken dishes...which me and my husband didnt enjoy it much. So i might not go for it again. The spinach and pumpkin pie was also great. The cake Baked Alaska was also great. Worth trying it out. Overall the experience was great. Service was great as all the details were taken into the consideration. Just that it was very very expensive. But i would definitely go again as it was great.
Delicious brunch; excellent food, excellent service and loved the festive tunes.
Overall good night. Communication between staff and customer could have been better. We pre-ordered 2bottles of wine, I think it is curtious to inform the customer when the bottles are finished and ask if they'd like another. We weren't told and therefore unaware we were on a 3rd bottle, which we were then going to be charged for. Thankfully this was rectified after speaking to a member of staff.
Everything is just perfect.
Lovely spot, great service and very good food!
Excellent Food & Service ..
Great place for dining and lounging! Loved their sharing concept, food and atmosphere were amazing!
Atmosphere, entertainment and venue were all good. Service was way too slow. It threw off the whole event. I think it was too ambitious as a first go around for the kitchen and staff. Food was nice but you didn't have time to appreciate it as you were so hungry by the time it arrived you just wolfed it down. We didnt have a 5 course meal as advertised. Food was served very late. It was too overpriced for the service that was provided on new year s eve. I dont think we would chose Laval for any big occasion. Over all it was a disapointing experience.
We booked two riskiest for the New Year's Eve rooftop event at 121 OMR. On arrival at the rooftop we were informed separately by two staff members that we were only allowed to stay around the bar area as the main part of the rooftop was "reserved" by "private groups". The prospect of standing around for three to four hours in an inadequately provisioned area as second class customers did not enthrall us and certainly didn't add the any mood of excitement and anticipation we may have felt prior to arrival. As all the comfortable seats were "booked" by the "special ones" we decided to throw caution to the wind and venture into their domain in order to take in the amazing views from the balcony. We were questioned on more than one occasion if we "belonged to this party?" Bearing in mind the inadequate provision of available seats and tables in the poor people's section where we were previously told we should remain, the largely empty "private" areas offered the only place to take the weight off our feet once in a while. Further hints aimed at reinforcing the fact that we weren't welcome was when staff started partitioning off said special areas by closing the dividing curtains. Not very friendly and certainly not conducive to a shared party experience. Ultimately we decided to abandon the roof and made our way to the garden, found two spare seats at a table and shared some more meaningful conversation with a fun group sat there. Sorry Laval, was a great location, a reasonable night, but spoiled by your over enthusiastic pandering to the "upper class" and marginalising the regular folk to whom 121 rials is a bigger deal. Hoped New Years at Laval would be a step up from the rest - in the end, sad to say it wasn't.
