About La Marée by Marc de Passorio
Headed up by the renowned Michelin-starred chef Marc de Passorio, La Marée’s cooking philosophy is to harness the culinary traditions of France, together with NZ’s finest seafood, and transform them into culinary masterpieces.
Great service and atmosphere, but entre scallops were very small and only three... and the market fish was very nice but slightly over cooked to my taste, still a great dining experience though,
Pleasant Saturday night family dinner, nice meals, good portioms and good service, we got a good discuount with our Accor Membership otherwise its a little pricey.
The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The atmosphere there is warm and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The fish was really fresh and the service was excellent.
We had great food and were very well looked after by the wait staff. Thanks so much for a memorable evening!
Staff made our evening. Attentive, responsive, discreet. The food was superb. Everyone in our group would book again.
The mushroom risotto was very tasty and my husband steak was cooked just the way he liked it. Thank you and keep up the great work.
We are two adults and one child, we ordered the seafood platter, steak, kid fish and chip and two beverages. All the food tastes great. And I highly recommended the seafood platter as it’s fresh and it’s really good price. However, the service of the staff were not up to 5 star hotel standard. We weren’t greeted us when we enter the restaurant, and we had to look for someone to help to get seated, note that the place was empty given we are there for the first table and the staff were just standing around playing with their phone and our family of 3 were barely visible to them. Also, the staff doesn’t seems happy when I ask them about the first table offer, they werent willing to help and just want us to place our order and get it done quickly.
Food was divine, service superb and atmosphere incredibly good. I’m actually re booking with another group of friends because they can’t miss this.
The presentation and service were fine. Atmosphere was ok. But the food really lacked flavour and the tuna was overcooked which was a surprise to me considering the marketing hype which drew me in. Only the amuse bouche had flavour.
Great service and meal.
Beautiful spot, delicious food. Staff were great! Highly recommend a visit to La Maree
I would have liked a table cloth and china cups
Very nice atmosphere.Great seafood platter. Dessert was also very nice. But table was too small.
Excellent service and food. I strongly recommend this restaurant. Many thanks:)
The buffalo cheese entrée was very very ordinary and disappointing but other than than that everything else was great.
A wonderful venue for afternoon tea. The food offered was really outstanding, and a great choice of teas and coffees.
Beautifully cooked and presented food. Friendly staff and relaxed atmospherr
Great service , lovely New Zealand fresh food .
Excellent restaurant with perfectly executed dishes. The music wasn't working properly and the continual efforts to rectify all night were unnecessarily annoying....just switch it off and get an expert to fix it
It was expensive but as a treat it was fabulous. Food exquisite, service unobtrusive and high quality. Atmosphere was lovely, not too noisy and a view of the masts and drawbridge in the viaduct.
Excellent Service, the food was fantastic. I the wine list could be more comprehensive would be our only suggested potential for improvement. Well done
Attentive service, beautiful food-would definitely recommend
Often, I think that people bypass Hotel Restaurants, but in the case of La Maree they should not. The menu is exciting and innovative. It is a 'special occassion' restaurant as it's on the upper end price-wise but it's worth it. You cannot fault the service or the food. If there is one area that I would question it is the wine list. Not having wines under $80 on the wine list is a mistake, as my old friend Stephen Lewis who was the GM of The Reagent n Auckland then Sydney used to say in the 1990's, it's areas like this that can really turn people off and there's just no need. In my opinion you shouldn't be put off from visiting, but they need a house wine at $50/55 and 2 or 3 varietals at around $60/$65. At the moment the list appears to be compiled by an ostentatious wine 'snob', and that is unfortunate and short-sighted as it can make people feel uncomfortable. A small blemish, that NEEDS fixing, on a lovely meal.
