About La Lanterna West End
La Lanterna has been serving up authentic Italian food in Glasgow for over 45 years, making it the oldest family run Italian restaurant in the city, still in the hands of the original owners.
With its city centre restaurant established in 1970 and a West End establishment opened in 2017, La Lanterna's legacy continues, having previously been named 'Best Restaurant', 'Best Team', 'Best Chef', and 'Best Wine List' at a variety of awards ceremonies over the years, including Scotland's official best Italian restaurant at the 2016 Italian Awards.
We have great passion for what we do, and take pride in our classic food & first-class service. We hope you'll be joining us at our West End restaurant soon.
Gorgeous restaurant with extremely friendly staff and some of the nicest food we have ate in a long time. Our new favourite Italian restaurant!
Lovely food. Would definitely come back again.
Everything was fantastic. Cocktails and food superb. Topped off with exemplary service. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough
An excellent night out with good food which is very difficult to find in our home town Aberdeen.
Our favourite restaurant for a night out in Glasgow’s west end. Love everything about it
Fantastic lunch with good service. The seats at the window are chilly but it is January.
Consistently great food, great service, great atmosphere. Can’t fault it.
3 for service was due to not being offered a drink service. Didnt realise we hadn't been offered this until I asked for drinks after our meal order was taken. Waitress did seem embarrassed. Bruschetta was bit bland and seafood linguine was low in shellfish. Chateabrian was superb according to my husband and son. Would go back again and try something different.
The food was decent and the staff were friendly. However, I rang several days prior to make a booking for my daughter's birthday celebration. I requested a warm & cozy table preferably a booth. I was assured that something special would be done for my daughter's birthday - they would see what they could do on the table & a dessert on a plate with happy birthday written on it. When we arrived we were seated in the window near the door where it felt cold and continually drafty. I did not raise this as the place was full & I did not want to make a scene on my daughter's celebration. We had to wait quite awhile to place all course orders especially the pudding & finally waved someone over to take it. The same thing for our bill after waiting 25 minutes until staff saw us signal. Once we finished our desserts three staff came to the table to sing and delivered what felt a complete 'afterthought' of my daughter's special birthday dessert which was a tiny custard (inedible because it was too sweet) on a side dish with caramel sauce squirted in zig zags. I was embarrassed. They hadn't even asked my daughter's name for the song & filled it in with 'lovely customer', which we thought to be funny, but not personal as I had hoped the whole evening might feel. In the end, I felt your establishment let me down.
Absolutely fabulous......see you all again soon 😄
This is still my favorite place to eat in Glasgow - the amazing food and friendly atmosphere make each experience at La Lanterna a real treat. I recommend it to friends and family all the time, and I always look forward to my next meal at La Lanterna!
Enjoyed our visit as a whole, staff very pleasant but waiter gave us the sweet menu and then disappeared. I had to call waitress after 25 minutes wait to give her our dessert order, service could be much better in my view.
Always love a visit to this lovely restaurant, food delicious, never disappointed.
I couldn't fault our food within the restraunt, however the only complaint I do have is we were seated downstairs and I felt there was no atmosphere at times, at times not even background music playing, this was a little off putting for us. This was a special celebration for us and unfortunately this dampened the night every so slightly.
Wonderful all round .will be back 😁
Excellent as always!!
Lovely restaurant and food good overall. I felt the ravioli carne presentation could have been better and I found the sauce very oily, but was tasty!
We had a lovely evening. Service was excellent especially when I booked a table in the Hope Street restaurant by mistake! This really is a special place. I was so impressed by the way the staff looked after an elderly couple who have been going there every week for over 30 years. They were treated like family. The waitress with the purple hair was so caring. Sorry I don’t know your name. Food was lovely and the service was impeccable. I hope they are still there in 30 years as we plan to make it our regular date night too.
Food delicious , generous portions , Staff friendly :)
Lovely restaurant. Would highly recommend
staff need to be more attentive
Lovely restaurant nicer than hope street albeit a more establishment
A first class meal, we will be back!
