About Lady Helen at Mount Juliet Estate
Lady Helen McCalmont, the previous owner of Mount Juliet, was a superb hostess, who oversaw the gardens and kitchens with a kindly but firm hand. We believe she would have been delighted to know we have maintained her standards, and that the restaurant bearing her name also bears a Michelin Star, along with three AA Rosettes.
Our internationally-themed menu consists of dishes made using local ingredients, including many from our own kitchen garden, herb garden and farm. The atmosphere of opulence within the Lady Helen Restaurant complements the pastoral views out over the pastures to the River Nore, racing its way south to Inistioge.
Service and knowledge of serving staff superb
Fantastic Afternoon Tea
Amazing food, service and atmosphere, without doubt the best afternoon tea we've had, fantastic value for money, wonderful staff, we were made to feel so special, the children said it was a day they will never forget and can't wait to return, our high light was meeting Des McGrath ór Google McGrath as we called him! Such a lovely man with so much knowledge about the estate, we could have sat all day speaking to him, thank you all so much for making such lovely memories for our group.
Dining at Lady Helen is a culinary pleasure. Everything was impeccable so treat yourself to Lady Helen.
The food was wonderful, the service was outstanding and the ambiance lovely. Thank you for a memorable evening.
A beautiful dinner in lovely surroundings with very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Loved it. A special occasion restaurant and culinary experience. The nutty gluten free bread was excellent. Breakfast was really lovely too except my husbands French toast was very average.
We had the most amazing meal and loved every minute of the experience , without doubt one of our favorites with The Eiffel Tower. Colin & April
Unbelievable experience! The food was fantastic, the staff were friendly and so attentive, we loved every bit of the experience which was exceptional! So much so that we've booked to come back for our wedding anniversary in a month's time!!!
We chose from the table d’hote 3 course menu. The four of us in the group each chose something different for each course and each of us was delighted with our choice. The food really was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was also excellent. Only two minor minus points were that the main cod dish was slightly salty and the tiramisu was too mildly flavoured- it needed more coffee and alcohol. All in all though, an exceptional dining experience.
Very nice. After dinner cocktails are very tasty.
Upon arrival at Mount Juliet we went into the wrong building and were told we would have a 5 minute walk to the manor house where the lady helen room is located. It was raining and the least that they could have done was chauffeur us on a golf buggy to the correct building. The afternoon tea at 30 euro per person each didn't meet my expectations at all. The food while it was nice was nothing special. There was only one knife and one side plate per person so once you used the knife on the savory sandwiches, you had to use the same knife to slice the scone and spread jam/clotted cream. There was a tiny narrow strip of tiramisu per person on the dessert plate but again there was nothing to transfer it from top of afternoon tea stand onto the said side plate which was by this time dirty with oil from sun dried tomato. For 5 star afternoon tea, the place lacks attention to detail which is what I would expect the 30 euro per person was paying for. I took a photo of what we received and anyone who I have shown it to has asked me how we could justify paying 60 euro. I wouldn't have minded at all if the overall experience was good but it wasn't. There were staff in the lady helen and they didn't come near us to provide clean cutlery and because it is a 5 star establishment I shouldn't have had to ask for it either.
Very enjoyable cream tea
The Lady Helen is a gourmet restaurant in which the service and menu is what one would expect of the finest dining establishments. The menu is set in most cases, with wines matched to the menus for the evening. While the dress code is "smart", wear a coat, no tie is necessary.
Quite possibly the best meal I've ever had! One word....wow!!!
Exceptional food. Sometimes with Michelin star your expectations are not always met - not the case here, every aspect of the dining experience was delivered on. Highly recommend the Lady Helen.
Incredible Restaurant, totally unique experience
The stafg stood out to me. They are so well trsined and it added hugely to the experience.
We were a group of 8 mature ladies celebrating a special occasion with afternoon tea late in the afternoon. We were delighted to be seated exclusively in the library and were not hurried . Service was good overall. The food was fresh and tasty. It was quiet that evening at Mt Juliet and perhaps some ambient music might have enhanced the atmosphere . It was an overall a very pleasant experience at the Manor house .
Wonderful balance of classical and inventive cooking with high quality ingredients, beautifully presented. Technically faultless on this occasion. Timing of dishes was excellent and service was formal without being overly stuffy- all delivered in a beautiful dining room. Would thoroughly recommend
We had a lovely afternoon in Mount Juliet. The setting is outstanding both the lands around the house and the house itself. Our afternoon tea was excellent. There was an amazing array of delightful food with plenty for everyone. We will definitely be back.
a simple menu option would be nice
Best afternoon tea I have had the pleasure to experience. Staff were super attentive and friendly. Food was delicious. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back. Well done to all involved.
Absolutely loved it!
