About Lady Helen at Mount Juliet Estate
Lady Helen McCalmont, the previous owner of Mount Juliet, was a superb hostess, who oversaw the gardens and kitchens with a kindly but firm hand. We believe she would have been delighted to know we have maintained her standards, and that the restaurant bearing her name also bears a Michelin Star, along with three AA Rosettes.
Our internationally-themed menu consists of dishes made using local ingredients, including many from our own kitchen garden, herb garden and farm. The atmosphere of opulence within the Lady Helen Restaurant complements the pastoral views out over the pastures to the River Nore, racing its way south to Inistioge.
The Service felt a bit awkward. Coming to close - speaking above the food.... a bit more distance would have been better.... Being there as the first guests of the evening we were standing around... waiting for someone to show up. Felt lost.
Wonderful evening from start to finish! Just perfect!
An exceptional experience
Amazing selection. The bread, desserts, and sandwiches were great! Lovely tea atmosphere in the grounds as well. We were very happy to visit on our trip to Ireland.
Pleasant but inexperienced staff who did their best
Excellent from every point of view. A complete escape with something for everyone of all ages. A little bit of paradise and so accessible.
Pricey but a fantastic dining experience which we always look forward to on our visits to MJ.
Note: My name is Colin KELLY
The reason for the low score on atmosphere is because of the hotels fixation with playing jazz (various forms) based music all day throughout the hotel. Sometimes it is fine - I like some jazz - but in my opinion you should vary the types of music. Furthermore jazz in an elegant (and stunning) and in your own words - opulent - dining room, is bizarre. The 4/5 score for recommending to a colleague would be because your mark-up on wines and other drinks is the highest that I have seen anywhere, and I would be feel obliged to warn people of this.
We had the afternoon tea - the food was delicious as was the atmosphere of the dining room. We were fortunate to be seated overlooking the River Nore. Our primary server (Anne Marie?) was delightful. We hope to return on our next trip to the area.
Great food and atmosphere and the service was top notch.
Amazing experience, incredible food, and surpasses its deserved reputation
Have recommended you in the past and will be recommending you again. Fabulous experience and still possibly the best afternoon tea I have had. Very accommodating staff
Always a pleasure to visit mount Juliet when I come over to visit
My husband and I had a wonderful evening in the lady Helen the food was excellent and the service was superb we will definitely be back.
The presentation and standard of food was excellent. I did however find the atmosphere a little stiff. This was likely in keeping with the period of the house etc but was a little formal for me.
Very enjoyable stay
Afternoon tea was lovely the top tier could have done with maybe a meringue or eclair service was excellent staff very friendly and helpful. My only fault was we ordered 5 portions of chips and got charged nearly 18 euro for them which I thought was very expensive especially since there was 9 of us there and at 30 euro a head I think they could have been complentary
Service and knowledge of serving staff superb
Fantastic Afternoon Tea
Amazing food, service and atmosphere, without doubt the best afternoon tea we've had, fantastic value for money, wonderful staff, we were made to feel so special, the children said it was a day they will never forget and can't wait to return, our high light was meeting Des McGrath ór Google McGrath as we called him! Such a lovely man with so much knowledge about the estate, we could have sat all day speaking to him, thank you all so much for making such lovely memories for our group.
Dining at Lady Helen is a culinary pleasure. Everything was impeccable so treat yourself to Lady Helen.
The food was wonderful, the service was outstanding and the ambiance lovely. Thank you for a memorable evening.
A beautiful dinner in lovely surroundings with very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Loved it. A special occasion restaurant and culinary experience. The nutty gluten free bread was excellent. Breakfast was really lovely too except my husbands French toast was very average.
