The meal was good and the service was good. We had some hiccups, but they were from the kitchen. Hopefully we will continue to see improvement int he future.
Just when you think it cannot get worse, La Concha manages the almost impossible. We were 4 people sitting in an area where there were only 2 tables being used, a total of 6 people for one waiter. Ordered 4 drinks. We were served 3. He did go back and get the other. Ordered tuna pâté for an appetizer for the table. Forgot order and after reminding him he brought. Ordered the Pumpkin soup and told waiter that if it did not come as it is on the menu, with a Puffy Pastry, not to bring it. He brought it without the Puff Pastry and it was returned. But he tried to tell us we were wrong about the order and brought a menu to show us. I read it to him in Spanish and English that it says Puff Pastry. The soup was returned because the puff pastry makes the dish. Ordered our meal and it was good, but again NOT what was on the menu. The lobsters were the size of two of your shrimps. In the past when the lobster was so small they would put two on a plate. I asked why we got a baked potato instead of mash potatoes. The lobster used to be on a bed of mashed potatoes. Again he tried to tell us we were wrong about the order and brought a menu to show us. I read it to him in Spanish and English that it says mash potatoes. Had asked for melted garlic butter with lobster. Only got one that was on the other side of the table. He did bring me one also, but by that time I was almost done with my lobster. Ordered 3 desserts and 4 drinks. Waiter kept trying to get me something else instead of the Presidente I ordered. Several times he wanted to know about me having something else??? Waiter brought 4 desserts and 3 drinks??? Again got the order wrong. One extra dessert and one to few drinks. When he brought the desserts, he gave the orders to the wrong persons. There were only 3 desserts how hard could it be to know who ordered what. When asked for whom the extra dessert, ice cream was for, he had no idea and just placed it in the center of the table instead of taking it back. He did go back and get the Cadillac Margarita for the missing drink. When we got the bill we had been charged for the extra dessert we did not order and I marked another item that was questionable. At this point we did not argue since we all had Millionaire Bracelets. I do not feel that at a restaurant the used to be one of the best at El Cid, there should be no reason for this type of service and that the Chef cannot serve what is on the menu. If the Chef is not able to serve what is on the menu, we should have been told it is not available. It should also be the responsibility of the waiter to see if the order is correct before it comes out of the kitchen and he should know what is ordered and by whom and not forget parts of the order when you have a table of 4. It is embarrassing to me to invite friends to a high class restaurant and then subject them to this type of a service and food experience at a supposedly good restaurant. Sooner or later something needs to be done to correct this down ward spiral of food and service for your guests at El Cid.
Wanted to do the BBQ, but meats were frozen and then put on BBQ to grill. Just no way to treat meat. Ordered off menu.Onion soup had string cut onions, but was good. Good steak and good shrimps. Great service for a change, but Captain was monitoring the whole time including helping. Over kill to make sure things are good.
Each time we visit La Concha we thoroughly enjoy the experience!
I had said I would no longer answer the survey for La Concha, but this was so ridiculous that I will reply. We were treated differently than most people and I have never asked for that, but it did not help much. Ordered ice tea- pretty simple drink, got something with ice tea, orange juice a piece of grapefruit and several other fruits. How hard is it to get a simple ice tea??? Ridiculous. Order shrimp – when they came they were a) cold and b) over cooked to the point they were hard to chew. Captain came by to check on us [should have been waiter not captain] and he got me 4 more shrimp. All four were warm and good except for one that was raw inside. It is hard to cook shrimp on a BBQ. Wife ordered Red Snapper and Salmon. I love red snapper, but quit ordering it here because of all the bones. Hers again was more bones than fish. I can go to Iguana pool bar at Marina and they can make red snapper without bones. A pool bar versus a full blown restaurant, just sad! The salmon was so over cooked that it could NOT be eaten. The sad part is that both pieces of fish looked excellent, but were ruined through bad preparation. The clam chowder was excellent as was the Tiramisu. We will not order from the BBQ again on Thursday fish night. If we come back on a Thursday it will be off the menu. Outside Carlos had some VIPs  at a private table. They had a full time waiter and a full time Captain. Sad that this restaurant cannot trust a waiter to offer good service without a Captain overlooking every move.
Food was good, but things missing that used to be part of the meal and in the case of the soups make the meal better. The pumpkin soup used to have a bread bread type muffin and we were told it was not available. The onion soup used to come with a cheese on a crouton type bread. Again was told they had none. The rest of the meal was good
Food and service were exceptional! Don’t miss this wonderful experience !
This is what I expected from La Concha. Had a good waiter for the 6 of us. The BBQ shrimp were good. Thank you for making headway. Raul is a new Captain from Riviera Maya Resort. Do NOT KNOW if that had anything to do with it?
Another great disappointment at La Concha When I make reservations I have to give room number, email address and telephone number. There is NO REASON why El Cid cannot communicate with a person who has a reservation. Yesterday morning tables in La Concha were being moved out of the upstairs of La Concha. NO ONE said anything about closing the restaurant that night, even though apparently they knew it would be closed. When we walked up to the door there was a sign saying only outside seating was available. It would have been easy to put that sign up front where the sales reception is and direct people to the stairs or elevator rather than make them walk all the way to the door and them make them walk back to the stairs. Again communication with owners, my reservation stated INSIDE, which apparently was not available. We decided to stay and the wind was blowing the flags so it was cool. We did not have coats since we requested INSIDE! Our meal came and it was good, even though the steaks were over cooked to well rather than medium. The COLD wind cooled our meals before we could finish them. It was cool enough that we left and desert in another restaurant. There is NO REASON for this to happen without notifying people who have reservations. It would have been easy to put up a sign at breakfast that the restaurant would be closed that nigh. I also cannot understand why the floors are being done again. They were just done in Jan/Feb when we were there.

We always La Concha, it is one of our favourite restaurant at El Cid. Had a younger waiter, very inexperienced. Had to ask a couple times for one of our drinks her forgot and when asked for another glass of wine when we were almost finished our meal we never did get it. There were four of us and we all enjoyed them.
The view was amazing and the food was delicious and served beautifully. The service was very good so all aspects of our dining experience exceeded our expectations.
We had a newer waiter so service was a little slower, but otherwise very good.

Abraham was our server and did an incredible job. We will definitely go back and if we are lucky, we will have Abraham as our server again.
Edgar is a great waiter.... friendly, efficient and perfect! Food is excellent. Best fillet mignon I have had in Mexico! Atmosphere is upscale and exciting.
We had reservations but when we got there the only seats available were outside because of a private event. It was cold and windy and there were no heaters so we left and went back to the marina for dinner. Shouldn’t allow reservations when there is a private event.
Enjoyed our time there.
Waiter understood very little English. We asked three times for an ice bucket for the bottle of wine. Finally asked someone else who brought it. The waste of time with la cuenta is ridiculous. Room numbers for four people, bracelet numbers for four people. Wait for the bill and it is all zeros. Why can't people with black bracelets/all inclusive be spared this waste of everyone's time?
