Modern Turkish Restaurant
Amazing food, great service. Will definitely be back!
It was a shame that despite booking a while ago, we got a table for 2 with high chairs by the door... Also the prawns were quite mushy. Apart from that I loved the food especially the manti and service was great!
Excellent food and service
Great food, interesting take on Turkish classics. A little tight on the stool seats but definitely a place to return.
Kyseri and Oklava are our two favourite restaurants in London.
Really friendly and knowledgable staff, who were able to help with wine choices. The food was AMAZING, especially the beef and sour cherry manti and the hellim loaf with Black Sea fondue. Already planning to return.
We visited Kyseri on Thursday, February 7th 2019. The main attraction, the food, was good. Portions are definitely on the 'size-0' side (questionable value for money) and while packed with interesting flavours … felt in some cases potentially 'experimental' and/or working through teething issues in the kitchen. An example of this was a dessert of baked filo dough with pistachios and ice cream and served with lovely grapefruit soaked in grape syrup. Although clearly a winning combination of flavours … the filo dough was over-baked making it arguably 'tough' and burnt in places. While service was both friendly and appropriately attentive, details of the unique ingredients of the menu (a real differentiator and attractor for the restaurant) were not well understood by some of the servers. This translated into constant back and forth activity between our server and the kitchen or others who seemed to know more about what the ingredients on the menu actually were. Again, this could be down to teething issues … but not expected as a full fare paying customer. There are a few BIG things if you are considering booking at Kyseri. The restaurant is SMALL …. VERY SMALL. This creates a number of unpleasant experiences. First, seating (although limited) is rammed into the restaurant and an over reliance on 'counter seating' is maximised to clearly provide enough covers to pay the rent. Generally, I have no issue with counter seating, however, if your idea of a counter is a surface not much wider than your forearm … this should be avoided. Note: the restaurant assigns your seating … as I did not elect counter seating (watch-out for this as forewarned in Kyseri's reservation confirmation e-mails). Additionally, the seats provided at the counter are stools without backs, hard wooden seats, making what should be a relaxing dinner a meal ticket for any chiropractor. I had complained about being potentially placed at the counter and as a surprise (clearly with a view to find a compromise which is appreciated) upon arrival was 'upgraded' to a bar table with two of the same stools as referenced …. but literally several inches from the restaurant door opening. One of our seats backed onto what appeared to be the mains electric box for the restaurant which my guest hit her head on several times given the cramped and unfortunate positioning of the table. This was compounded with greetings from the north pole which flushed both us and our meal throughout the evening every time the door opened (e.g. no draft protection or curtain was there to shield guests in an already pint-sized restaurant). The restaurant given its size, lack of furnishings, and abundance of hard surfaces is a noise trap. While privacy at your 'table' is guaranteed because of the drowning nature of other noise … the subconscious anxiety which occurs with ever increasing noise over a period of time is enough to make an after dinner visit to the priory. As a conscientious reviewer, and not adverse to background noise (I live in Shoreditch), I found the restaurant's decibel levels unacceptable for the type of cuisine served and restaurant concept. Alas, after leaving the restaurant and arriving home … the evening at Kyseri sticks with you …. literally. Again, due to the inappropriate size of the restaurant and/or cooking methods required for the chosen menu, our clothes were saturated in unpleasant odours as if we had visited a chippie who hasn't changed vats for the past decade. Both our outfits will need to be dry cleaned and we had to store our clothes in sealed plastic bags as the odour was both so strong and offensive in our home. An immediate shower was also required. Be warned that going out directly after a dinner reservation may not be advised given what you may smell like on departure. We were lucky that we headed home immediately after dinner. On the whole, and surprisingly despite a good attempt at a creative and welcomed menu of flavours, the overall experience was far below expectation … not least for a venture which is the second launch of what I understand to be experienced proprietors. A shame for us and a shame for Kyseri.
Service and Food were great
Best meal i've had in 2019 so far. Everything was spot on, so utterly delicious and i've been raving about it to friends ever since. The staff were all really friendly and we didn't feel rushed or anything like that. Just perfect.
The food was delicious and the service was second to none. I will be coming back again soon! Big thanks to Kyseri team :)
We had a fabulous evening celebrating my father's birthday. The staff were really knowledgable about threfood and really attentive. We loved all of the food and were really happy we left room for the dessert as the Katmer was a real treat. Cant wait to go back!
I called the restaurant for a reservation and they were able to accommodate us at a time that suited us. The service was excellent and the food was delicious!
We had a lovely evening, thank you. Delicious food with warm and friendly service!
Excellent food and service. Enjoyed it so much and looking forward to coming back and trying the other dishes we missed.
Wonderful food, interesting wines and lovely service.
Marvellous restaurant with scrummy modern Thurkish/Cypriot food
I've been a fan of Selin for a while and only recently visited Oklava and I loved it so much, that I knew I'd also have to try sister restaurant Kyseri. We shared all the starters/ small plates, pastas and the sides between 3 of us, and tried some fantastic wine. I highly recommend the pastas in particular and the fondue starter. The dessert menu here is also a must. I'd totally come back again, but Oklava still has my heart. Staff are top notch.
The food was delicious, we really enjoyed our evening st Kyseri.
Fantastic service, beautiful food.
Don't change anything!
Food was great but we were sat at the counter above the stairs which was cramped and uncomfortable. I wouldn’t book again unless there was a table available.
It was delicious and really a taste explosion! Very interesting combinations of flavors and difficult to stop tasting and licking your plate. Thanks for a lovely evening!
