The prawn noodles is delicious, ingredients were fresh except the soup is quite oily. The asparagus dish is good very crunchy. The chicken satay meat is just nice not too soft. the beef and mutton satay are a bit hard if tender would be nice. I like the satay gravy very nice should give a slightly bigger portion.
The standard of the food is very average - coupled with the relatively high price for hawker style food resulted in a very average experience (we had rojak, bak kut teh, chicken rice, oyster omelette and sambal kangkong). The saving grace is the service. Staff is pleasant and there is a nice ambience to the place.
Always enjoyed the food and found it value for money with the 50% offer on the Amex Platinum Credit Card. This time round, noticed that the ba kut teh is missing from its new menu! Am still missing the fried crispy squids, hope it can make a comeback! The beef rendang is really tender, very 👍.
Service provided by staff could be improved. We dine at the restaurant a couple of times sometimes when bringing guest from overseas to try local food,Quite often, we find that the staff are not professional and they are not well train to provide good service. Not friendly and notice they do not smile.
The restaurant can be quite noisy when crowded especially during lunchtime
Can be more authentic.
We had a set menu ‘voucher’ dinner and understood the options would be limited. But this meal was appalling. We were told the main course option of “chicken rice’ was off and replaced by fried rice (only!) so the. Hoi e was Laksa or Fried Rice. The entree satay was dry and boring. All in all bad and not up to be standard of a home cooked meal.
Love the fish-head curry. It was really tasty and value-for-money.
New menu is not impressive. Many local favourites take off the new menu e.g. Fried Hokkien Mee, Ba Kut Teh. Nasi Lemak etc. The oyster omelette is a big disappointment. Lack lustre in taste albeit a big portion.
1130am is the start of the lunch, why is it the waitress still setting up the table, we can’t order our food cause the waitress were busy! To my understanding, all preparation has to be done before 1130am. Once the door open, is ready for first order, isn’t it??
There is poor signage in Raffles City to point to the restaurant.
Furniture looks old.
Great dining experience
It was value for money since I use my Amex Platinum Credit Card which gives me a 50% off the total bill. Am very pleased with this offer and shall visit your restaurant again.
Though serve the curry fish in the claypot but not boiling hot.Hope it will be boiling hot the next visit.
The nasi goreng was not hot and char kway teow could be better with 'wok hei'
Your restaurant is always my number 1 goto place to bring foreigners or friends to sampling the local dishes for the last 25 years. Thanks you for providing this service to Singaporeans
It is my first choice to share Singapore local cuisines to my friends from overseas.
It is a great place to bring my foreign friends who like a taste of our local Singapore food. The selections here well represent our local favourites, in kopitiam styles.
Delicious food and generous portions Great views and overall a wonderful restaurant that has stood the test of time.
Enjoyed my dinner with friends. We were the last to leave the restaurant.
Server seems not to note the service requested and food is either served wrongly; water request not attended to; ingredients are missing in certain important dish etc. the request was not only requested once. Staffs can spend their time talking one corner and ignore service request.
The food never disappoints. Always a pleasure to go there for lunch :)
Overall, its value for money if used with app or credit card promotion. Food wise, we felt the standard has gone down quite a bit. Nevertheless, the staff’s service always very welcoming.
