About Kopi Tiam
Explore the multi-cultural flavours of Singapore at Kopi Tiam, undoubtedly the perfect place for locals and tourists. Savour specialities such as Chilli Crab and Hainanese Chicken Rice or all-time favourites like the Fish Head Curry and Laksa which continue to delight those craving for Singapore’s signature dishes.
Kopi Tiam also offers a collection of specialty curries such as Devil’s Curry, Malay Curry, Vindaloo and Chinese Curry amongst others. Set in a nostalgic and air-conditioned ambience, Kopi Tiam promotes authentic and appetising local fare with the finest quality and value.
Local dishes overall still good, some like Char Kway Tiao seems to have slided.
The only time when the service was prompt was when I asked for the bill.
I have always had a very mix bag of experiences with Kopi Tiam. 2 years ago I chose the venue to host my mother's 80th birthday and Dinesh & his team were just outstanding. Other times, the service staff tends to be a bit slow, distracted (not attentive)...I have visited for years because it is a good place to bring visitors and in a great location but standards don't seem to improve (& consistently) over the years. When I was last there this weekend, I was on time and waiting at my assigned table (at the back) and 2 of my guests were made to wait at the table near the entrance because they were told I had not yet arrived - and I was waiting a good 30 minutes before I figured this out. When I provided this feedback to the staff at the front wearing a coat (tall slightly chubby Chinese man - I did not ask for name), he looked at me blankly said "sorry" but there was no heart in it. I told him in his face - "You don't even care, do you?". Thank God for Maricor - she was the only one of the crew that served us that day who was a DELIGHT and clearly looked like she ENJOYED her job. She turned things around for me and it is because of her, I feel there is hope for this establishment to really reach its full potential and do Singaporeans proud to bring our (especially foreign guests) to Kopi Tiam to try out the great spread of local fare in a very nice and convenient location.
Service was not attentive in clearing plates or topping up water.
Food has certainly improved, esp the Teochew steamed Seabass is fresh and delicious. Service staff Vincent Teh is very service oriented and took good care of our orders.
More chinese speaking personnel?
Food quality is good. Prices are a little high if without AMEX discount.
Overall experience was excellent - service was prompt, staff were attentive and food was great.
It will be better if there are some offer, such as 1 for free etc....
Chef is very good to share with the additional cooking experience, we enjoy this weekend cooking class very much
Food was delicious.
First and foremost, the service reception was ok. The food standard was just not worth mentioning as I had Penang prawn noodle and it was not great. Besides the drinks, we have to ask for water which should be more forecoming rather than we should pursue further on it. Thanks WT
As a FAR card member, I used to frequent Kopi Tiam with friends. The food was good and the pricing reasonable. The standard has dropped in terms of quality and quantity of food. To use the FAR voucher, the restaurant also insisted that each diner ordered at least one main dish. Suggest this requirement be reviewed and done away with because diners may want just a light lunch/dinner or just starters without any main course, especially ladies who don't have big appetites..
Liked the daily menu dishes but not the peranakan.
Waiting time is very long. This happened in both my recent visits, despite of being early and avoiding the peak hours.
Nice relaxing place.
It was a farewell lunch for my Friend and it turned out to be an unpleasant lunch. We were attended by a rather rude waiter by the name of Vincent. He was impatient in answering our queries pertaining to the menu and even frown at question that he can’t answer when we sought clarification on a particular lychee drink. It was most unpleasant and unexpected. While we on the other hand, were most patient and polite to him. While we emphatise that he could have a rough morning, it is not right for him to vent his frustration on the diners like us. Good service goes a long way.
Beef rendang was very good. The Teochew Seabass was fresh and tasty.
price can be more attractive and Service staff is more friendly will be great
Please keep the standard of curry fish head 😄
Food is good but service wise definitely lots of room for improvement.
Good venue for a after casual business meeting or meet up.
Got our drink order and choice of cutlery wrong. Ordered Laksa and nasi goreng istimewa.. nothing much to rave about. Orange juice was very sour. Mango cooler was nice. I love the view and staff were attentive.
Fish head curry tastes to be overcooked and Fried whole grouper fish the main body' shrink' to the bone.
