About Kirkstile Inn
Great Pub food in a stunning location.
Led by Head chef Paul Williamson, the talented kitchen team aim to provide great quality food in a relaxed environment. Coming to Kirkstile is not just for a special occasion. We believe that a good night out with home cooked food should be affordable. Traditional dishes such as Shepherds Pie, Lakeland Steak and Ale Pie and slow cooked Lamb Shank feature on our menus throughout the year. Lakeland Fillet Steak and Cumbrian Chicken are always on our highly prized chalk specials board which changes daily. Watch out also for such dishes as Sticky Toffee Pudding and Glazed Lemon Tart.
In addition we always have two Roasts on a Sunday
A healthy children's menu is always available.
HOME COOKED, LOCAL AND SEASONAL
Kirkstile's team of six chefs are serious about good food. We have a deserved reputation for unpretentious, home-cooked meals and place great emphasis on local Cumbrian and Lake District suppliers. With a seasonal changing menu we always offer a good selection of fish and vegetarian dishes. We also cater for vegans.
Our famous bar can be really busy and always has a great atmosphere! Inside are low beamed rooms with welcoming open fires, good food, willing and friendly service, the same warm hospitality that has always characterised a good English Inn
We have a superb carefully selected wine list which include 13 wines by the glass. We also stock an extensive range of gins, whiskies and other spirits.
We have 5/6 real ales from our own brewery on the Bar at any time. Specials as well as Loweswater Gold, Langdale, Esthwaite Bitter and always a dark one, perhaps Grasmoor or our celebreated Vanilla Oatmeal Stout. Or perhaps you fancy a pint of our own lager, Buttermere Beauty.
Always a lovely meals day brilliant service whenever we book. The atmosphere isn’t the same due to COVID restrictions. Prior to this it’s my favourite local place to dine
This is our favorite local pub! Best pie ever, amazing off the beaten path location and fabulous friendly service. We are repeat guests and it never disappoints.
Wonderful service from all the staff, from beginning to the end. Lovely relaxing atmosphere... fabulous views from our room 2. Wonderful walks on both days as the weather was frosty. Lunch and Dinner was delicious. Roll on 2021 Summer we will be back. Thank you everyone.
Class food like
Absolutely amazing yet again. We come the lakes every year at Christmas and make sure we come here for a meal. food is stunning couldnt recommend enough!
Lovely food, just what we needed after a long walk!
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere
Always delicious food in a beautiful setting. Warm and friendly, great for kids and dogs
Been coming to the kirkstile many many years and have always had an enjoyable experience and the food is second to none always as was this visit, how ever we were rushed to order and leave form entering and was refused a drink just after we had finished eating even though it was only 9 oclock and the pub was empty very dissapointing and please dont play the covid card because it wasnt, to refuse someone a drink in an empty pub nowhere near closing is terrible when the customer has just spent £70 on food and drinks. Thanks
The most fabulous pub in such a beautiful setting . Food gorgeous, and the beers are superb . Had supper last night ( Boxing Day ) and truly it was the high point ofChristmas x
We have been coming to this pub for ages and always love it. Food is amongst the best in Cumbria and the staff are lovely. Was worth noting that a fellow diner was trying to convince staff to break rules by serving him alcohol without a meal. The wait staff stuck to their guns and explained the rules while the man continued to give them attitude and also at one stage refused to pay. They were very professional and dealt with him well
Nice place, nice service.
Excellent visit as usual, can’t wait to come back!
Great beer, great food, great atmosphere, great service - had a brilliant lunch with our young family.
We were seated in the side extension and there was one more table with customers on but they left when we started our meal, service was good taking the order and serving but we were forgotten about after we got our meal and to pay. It says pay at table but after a very long wait I had to go look for somebody to pay my bill.
Great steak pie and good real fish finger butty.
Lovely start to the Christmas festivities - lovely food, great service and a great festive atmosphere
Delicious meal with very efficient service. Friendly atmosphere created by the staff and covid measures excellent
Excellent service, delicious food and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend!
The Kirkstile remains my favourite restaurant/pub in the Lakes and my guests always insist upon enjoying your hospitality when evet they visit me. Unfortunately this has not been as often as they would have liked this year, but advise they intend to make up for lost time next year. Thanks
Great food as always
Always excellent and never disappoints especially in these trying times
I suggest the menu be revised more often to provide a little more variety for regular customers. Steak pie and Lamb Henry are good but they’ve been on the menu now for an awful long time. Otherwise no issues at all - Loweswater Gold as lovely as ever!
Excellent food set in fantastic settings. Looking forward to my return and possibly a stay over.
great meal ,nice place.
