About Kintan JAPANESE BBQ
Kintan is the first yakiniku-style restaurant in London. Yakiniku, literally meaning ‘grilled meat’, is the Japanese take on the Korean barbecue and one of the most popular dining styles in Japan. Being Japanese, Yakiniku restaurants employ a little engineering ingenuity to provide smokeless table grills with subterranean smoke extraction so that the flavour of the food stays on your plate and off of your clothes.
Decent Japanese BBQ
Absolutely amazing food. Me and my brother shared (for us the unfortunately named) couples menu. When we went I had recently gotten back from 5 weeks in Japan and the flavours are very authentic, even down to the salad dressing. The only criticism I have is that the staff could have been slightly more attentive. By that I don't mean they were unfriendly, quite the opposite, but we didn't receive any tongs and it took 5 min to get someone's attention and after we'd ordered drinks it took about 15-20 min before we had to tell someone we wanted to order. It could definitely have been a one time thing and it really didn't affect much at all in the end, but since I do remember it I thought I'd include it in the review. Otherwise, drinks were fab, food was amazing (my brother has not stopped talking about it) huge portions and just a very nice place. Would recommend to everyone.
Manager was so very rude! Restaurant wouldn’t honour table reservation. Wouldn’t recommend at all. 🗑🗑🗑(3Trashcans)
A lovely meal, with a very unique idea. Will be returning soon!
Service was incredibly slow and it took a long time to place orders and also to receive the bill at the end. It’s a shame the service is so bad because the food is consistently great and excellent value for money.
Extremely dirty floor under the table, bar and tongues
It is very difficult to get any waitress attention. i understand that the restaurant is quite busy and all waitresses are very busy serving, but one thing I would like to recommend is at least they should look around when walking pass a table in case people want to order more food. There were many occasions where I tried to get someone attention, and they just walked pass me without looking and I don't want to be rude to shout. So sometimes we had to sit and wait for a while. So I think the services here can be improved. Other than that, the food is great and I would come back again.
We arrived and My table was dirty and When i put my arm on table my jumper was covered in sticky sauce...
Food is satisfactory but the service is not. It can be really slow and my friend and I wanted to be seated earlier than the time of booking, but we were refused. However, there were not so many people in the restaurant. We wanted to change a grill, we had to wait for so long. The same thing happened when we waited for dessert. Extremely slow.
Food is great, but service (tall manager with dark beard) and a couple waiters are absolutely rude. They do not offer a takeaway service here or quick lunch menu. Overall hire nicer, compassionate people to make this a great place. Management acts like customers are a burden
Great Japanese style BBQ
Highly recommend for a tasty quick lunch and more!
Tasty food, enjoyable experience, friendly staff.
Great experience, delicious food and very good service
Great food and service!
I went to have my birthday dinner at Kintan with 3 of my friends. I could only book for 21:30 on Saturday the 10th February. We arrived and our table was not ready, so we waited 5 minutes and had a drink at the bar. We then chose our menu (party meal for 4), and by around 22:00 we were eating. This is a yakiniku-style restaurant, meaning that the customers cook their own meal, so this is supposed to be relaxed and fun thing to do. And it was, food was good and the grill works great. Until the Manager (beared gentleman) starts ordering everyone to close their sections. Meaning that 40 minutes after we start eating the bill is on the table, and around 10 minutes later a young man comes with a machine to pay because he wants to close. I have years of hospitality experience, as well as my guests. And there is something that we do not accept is that being kicked out of a restaurant because they could only book late. I do not blame the trainee and the others for the destruction of a perfect evening. Only the manager that was pushing everyone for an early close. Why must my experience differ depending on the time of my booking? If I book after 9:00 expect a terrible service. I would like to have enjoyed my meal with time and maybe ordered some spirits after. But at 22:50 I had to pay my bill. Returning table not even 1 hour after started eating. This is terrible policy. It is not my fault that the booking was made at 21:30, I even asked in Open Table if they had any other earlier time to book earlier. I know how it is working in a restaurant, but I paid £176.00 and could not enjoy my meal. Also put that it was my Birthday and no mention and no opinion given. Food was good but my birthday dinner was completely spoiled by a manager waiting to go home and ordering everyone ("Lets go go, vamos para casa, lets go" - As I heard), with completely disregard for the dinners still mid meal. Never again.
Great yakiniku place which me and my colleague love coming back to. As a Japanese, it would be nice Salt Kalbi (not marinated in Tare) would be nice to have on the menu.
You guys are one of my favourite places in London! It’s always a pleasure come to eat original yakiniku
Very attentive service.
Great meal at Kintan. Food was very tasty and lots of it for two people (we go the meat lovers selection). The guy that took us to our table was fantastic, giving lots of information about the restaurant. Our waitress was a little less friendly and didn't give much information about the dishes or recommendations which would have been nice, but it was still perfectly fine. Will definitely be recommending others to come here, really enjoyed it.
Had been a few times before so decided to bring a group of colleagues from work for a night out and they all really enjoyed the whole experience and will return.
Really recommend this restaurant!
