About Kilworth House Hotel
The Victorian Orangery has become a destination in its own right. Now fully restored it is light and airy by day and romantic by night. The ever changing light means that the mood feels right any time of day for breakfast, lunch, full afternoon tea and informal dinner. The maximum seating on one table is 12 guests. Up to 130 guests can dine beneath the Orangery's glass, timber and ornate wrought iron ceiling. The Orangery restaurant is closed on a Sunday evening but dinner is served in the Library Restaurant.
The Wordsworth Restaurant with its domed ceiling, glittering chandeliers and fireplace creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere in which to enjoy a 2AA Rosette a la carte dinner. Open from Wednesday to Saturday.
The Library Restaurant offers a luxurious ambience with bookcases and a Victorian fireplace to create the welcoming surroundings with views over the knot garden courtyard. Dining is available on Sunday evenings for dinner and at other times when The Orangery and Wordsworth Restaurants are fully booked.
All three restaurants can also be booked for events, private dining and weddings; subject to availability.
The Orangery Restaurant serves an informal modern British menu whilst The Wordsworth Restaurant serves a more formal a la carte menu.
The dress code in the Wordsworth Restaurant is smart casual
Jam for scone so thin it ran off scones, not once was we asked if things were ok, we were not offered a refill of tea or anything else other tables were, waiters time was spent talking to 2 or 3 of the eight table these were offered refills after going to other afternoon tea venue we did expect better than what we received, this was my birthday present from my son
Had fantastic lunch on 6 December, food was exceptional and the venue comes highly recommended.
Lovely Christmas atmosphere and superb service.
Atmosphere could be a bit better so it felt a bit more relaxed??
We just love visiting KILWORTH HOUSE especially at Christmas time the atmosphere is WONDERFUL any special dates are spent at KILWORTH HOUSE if possible many thanks to all the staff we had a lovely time yesterday afternoon x
When arrived we were shown to the lounge. After waiting sometime I had to ask at reception if there was anyone to serve us a drink in the lounge. Eventually someone came. The service for the starter and main was OK and the food acceptable We placed an order for dessert and we waited and we waited until I had to ask a server how much longer it was going to be. We waited and waited again until we had had enough. On paying the bill the lady, who I assume was the manager, stated that 'it had not been put through on the computer'. If that was the case she only had to come and explain in a polite way and I think we would have understood What really annoys me is that we were the only table left and anyone of the staff should have spotted something was wrong but they did not. Also there was no sincerity in the apology we were given
Everything was very good all staff were polite and helpful
We found the service really slow on this visit. Table booked for 8pm. Arrived at 7.45 and had drinks beforehand which was lovely but we weren't issued with menus until almost 8.20, didn't order until 8.30 and food was late coming to table, not until 8.45. The service I between courses was poor also. We ordered wine which we were informed would be on the table when we got there there but wasn't. The waitress was polite and friendly but the service was really slow. When we paid we had to go and pay at the organery bar and waiting another 10 mins to be seen to pay. Not great service we've come to expect.
Always a lovely treat to come here and the hotel looked beautiful. Festive Afternoon Tea was lovely just let down by not being offering a choice of tea - just Breakfast tea was offered. Did appreciate the boxing up of leftovers!
Superb afternoon tea, impressive gluten free tea
Friendly and relaxed atmosphere, with good food and service.
As usual a first class luncheon at Kilworth House , lovely Christmas atmosphere, great food and service excellent . Ideal location for a pre Christmas treat with the family .
Had to ask for drinks, three times whilst sitting in the lounge. Eventually informed that they had been served and sent to our table unbeknown to anyone ?? Complimentary drinks were given but not really necessary. That said, good time had by all. Brian Postlethwaite
A very special place. Nowhere quite like it.
Excellent service, attentive staff and fabulous food.
Festive afternoon tea was nice presently, however the coffee was a little to be desired for
Lovely polite friendly service would highly recommend afternoon tea
The venue is absolutley incredible at Christmas. It's so festive and the decorations are stunning! Host was attentive and food was so filling and delicate. Would come again in a heartbeat, all staff helpful and friendly. Thank you so much for wonderful experience. Gemma
The hotel always provides a very pleasant environment for me to meet friends and enjoy their company both before and after lunch in lovely, comfortable lounge. The service was very good and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was adequate but not outstanding - hence only satisfactory value for money.
Lovely festive afternoon tea with all our needs meet - staff / atmosphere/ and food was perfect
My friends and I had a fabulous festive afternoon tea with excellent service and friendly staff.
Astonished to be asked to pay in full at time of reservation leaving us no chance to share the bill with our friends as we intended. I was then badgered (email plus ill timed phone call) for confirmation between booking and dining. Too much pre event hassle altogether took the pleasure away from the event. We will not be back.
Slight lack of organisation for our party of 10 (8+2children.): Phoned a week before visit re childrens menu not on web. Promised it would be emailed - never arrived. On our visit had to ask for a childrens menu - - some delay in finding one. Popular choice was the warm banana bread - served cold, dissapointing everyone. Waiter told (before we started eating it) - shrugged shoulders and unable to deal with the issue. Not a satisfactory response. Promised a lounge for the group after the meal (on the day) but room was not reserved as promised - alternaive found, but not as comfortable.
It was our first time to Kilworth. We had a fabulous time. The place looked amazing, so gorgeously festive, the food was fantastically delicious and beautifully presented and the service brilliant. We were there for Christmas Sunday lunch and it certainly put us into the Christmas spirit. It felt very magical, we will certainly return.
Fantastic venue and with the xmas decorations and vibe, it felt very special. Beautiful.
