About Kilworth House Hotel
The Victorian Orangery has become a destination in its own right. Now fully restored it is light and airy by day and romantic by night. The ever changing light means that the mood feels right any time of day for breakfast, lunch, full afternoon tea and informal dinner. The maximum seating on one table is 12 guests. Up to 130 guests can dine beneath the Orangery's glass, timber and ornate wrought iron ceiling. The Orangery restaurant is closed on a Sunday evening but dinner is served in the Library Restaurant.
The Wordsworth Restaurant with its domed ceiling, glittering chandeliers and fireplace creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere in which to enjoy a 2AA Rosette a la carte dinner. Open from Wednesday to Saturday.
The Library Restaurant offers a luxurious ambience with bookcases and a Victorian fireplace to create the welcoming surroundings with views over the knot garden courtyard. Dining is available on Sunday evenings for dinner and at other times when The Orangery and Wordsworth Restaurants are fully booked.
All three restaurants can also be booked for events, private dining and weddings; subject to availability.
The Orangery Restaurant serves an informal modern British menu whilst The Wordsworth Restaurant serves a more formal a la carte menu.
The dress code in the Wordsworth Restaurant is smart casual
Very disappointing. When we arrived staff passed us from person to person - we waited 20 minutes to be showed to the table. The food was put on the table and then we did not see any staff for coffee or tea refills. There was a large function taking place and all staff were pre occupied with setting up. The sandwiches were dried out and the cakes were not dainty well flavoured cakes but very rich and unpalatable. It was boked for a very special occasion and if we had been told we were not in the main dining area as we usually are we would not have come. We will not be returning.
Lovey food and great value.
Service was amazing at first but then once we’d been given our second teapot no one came out again at all for over half an hour. We had to go and find someone else to get a box to take the remaining cake home in. Very nice food and lovely place but £25 maybe rather steep for afternoon tea.
Very pleasant staff. Excellent service. Very good food - almost 5 star
A delightful experience excellent in every way. I will be booking afternoon tea again very soon as I would like to share the experience with other friends.
Had a lovely afternoon, staff were very attentive, food was very nice especially the scones!
Excellent service and fabulous food!
Kilworth House premises was very nice with scenic gardens. I liked the room where the afternoon tea was held. Service: This was very poor as it took almost 30 mins for someone to come over and see what we would like to order. The place was not busy for them to take so long and there was no apology for taking so long to come over. They informed us we could take the afternoon tea items home if we didn't finish them. The wait bought boxes to pack but just left them on the table. We assumed we had to pack it ourselves so we did, but we went over to another table and pack theirs for them, which I thought was extremely rude. Furthermore, their WiFi was not working so we had to queue at the Bar to pay. Food & Drink: My mum ordered a white coffee but when they bought this out it was overflowing and alot of this was in the tea plate. The scones were so hard when I tried to cut them in half they just crumbled. I would not rate this afternoon tea as very good. Value for money: It certainly was not worth £25 for afternoon tea. I would not do this again. I would not recommend afternoon tea here and I would not come here again. I think you are paying more for the place as opposed to the quality of the afternoon tea.
This was the first time at Kilworth House and we will most certainly be coming back. Excellent service and attention for a very special occasion.
Beautiful venue. Lovely food, excellent service.
Enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea with my mum and my cousin. Triple birthday celebrations. Experienced a savoury afternoon tea for the first time. Lovely place. Will visit again and will recommend.
We arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation, we queued at reception to ask where to go, The orangery wasn't open and we waited to be shown to our table, in this time we read a notice that stated due to the Orangery roof to expect some water drips. We asked twice if there was a Sunday paper we could have whilst we waited for the rest of family - there were 6 of us. No paper nor advised there wasn't one available. The Bloody Marys that we ordered were as basic as basic no garnish no twiddle stick. The food was mediocre, the Yorkshire pudding overcooked, vegetables in what looked like two breakfast cereal bowls put on the table, table layout very basic could have done with a small vase of flowers. Obviously the weather on Sunday denoted the amount of drips we got either on our heads, on the menus or on the table. We booked Kilworth as we felt it would be a nice treat ,however on reflection at around nearly £40 per head incl coffee and drinks ,our expectations were not met and we would not return nor recommend.
Lovely afternoon tea. Even catered a full gluten afternoon tea for our daughter.
Great service with a lovely atmosphere!
Afternoon Tea with Champagne in beautiful surroundings - what is there not to like
We were very disappointed with the service we received. Booked for my nieces 14th birthday were 6 adults and 3 children. We asked for a drinks menu, which never appeared, asked for this again. we ordered tea which never appeared, we ordered hot chocolate which were then informed it will be served in tea pots, as our group was too large, the kids were dissapointed! We were then served very thin slices of what seemed like dry cake, this tasted burnt, some slices were actually burnt, this cake was also in the childrens trifle. We complained only to be given thicker slices of the same cake...no apology. To top it off the waitress gave 2 out of 3 children a cookie as a replacement.....there was 3 children one more cookie wouldn't have made a difference to her. Will not recommend, very poor and slow service. Would not give this even 1star on any account!!
Excellent location and attentive service
Lovely atmosphere and attentive staff. A lovely afternoon.
The food was well presented and tasted nice.
Quite disappointed with our Afternoon Tea for the following reasons:- Only served one small pot of tea/coffee, and wasn't asked if we wanted anymore Wasn't given butter, jam or cream to go with our scones. We had to ask, but still didn't get cream Sandwiches we're fairly dry Not what I expect for £25
Another excellent afternoon tea at Kilworth House. Service and food superb as always.
The children’s afternoon tea was disappointing. It could have been more. Adults afternoon tea; why do you have to opt between sweet and savoury, isn’t that the point of afternoon tea. I location and room is lovely, however they could have more for children and better selection. Slightly disappointing for the price.
We had a lovely Sunday lunch at kilworh, everyone polite and attentive, however I had gravy spilt down me by waitress, so now I have to have my suit cleaned, I chose not to make a fuss about as the waitress was clearly embarrassed. When ordering coffee at the end of the afternoon it came without petifore’s as promised on the menu, it was all very nice but it’s the small things that make it memorable.
We had a wonderful afternoon tea. It was a Christmas gift given to us by our son & his wife. The Orangery is a perfect setting especially if it is a sunny day, which we were lucky to have. The cake stand was full of finger sandwiches, scones and delicious cakes. We both liked the delicate taste of the lemon curd spread. The staff are very welcoming & friendly. It was a lovely experience, I would definitely recommend it.
