About Kelvingrove Cafe
In 1896 the Kelvingrove Café opened its doors for the first time and instantly became a favourite lunch spot for visitors to the recently finished Kelvingrove Park.
In 117 years it has had many different offerings but in 2013 we took it back to its Victorian roots and once again made it a contemporary European Grand Café. We are interested in knock out tastes and flavours that complement the social atmosphere of the café.
Brilliant service - pricey but prettty good atmosphere considering thr restrictions
Great spot for brunch, very attentive staff. Food could have been delivered to our table a wee bit faster to be really hot, but apart from that, it was a great experience.
Very attentive staff and although we were only in for drinks for our allotted time there was a nice atmosphere
Lovely food and staff doing a great job
Drinks lovely. One of the bar staff (male) was wearing a pair of disposable gloves to pour drinks, make cocktails, chop fruit, wipe down the bar area, put things in the bin, then put made cocktails onto trays. He had the SAME pair of gloves on for the entire duration of our stay. I was facing the bar initially but this members of staff unhygienic practices was making me feel ill. I watched him to make sure he wasn’t making our order, when I realised he wasn’t I swapped seats with my husband so I no longer had to watch him. Disposable gloves are to be used for 1 dirty task, then to be taken off, put in the bin and then hands to be washed immediately. We finished our drinks and left as I couldn’t witness anymore germ spreading from your staff
Negroni is first class
Atmosphere pretty dull where we were sitting.
Good atmosphere with friendly service and delicious food.
Had brunch here, really like the new layout and the green room. Staff were friendly and on the ball. K C breakfast fell down a bit on details - dry tasteless beans and the dreaded microwaved tattie scones - and served on cold plates the food would have gone cold if I hadn't eaten it so quickly. Really like the place at various times of day but would think twice about brunch- plenty of alternatives nearby.
Wonderful brunch. Highly recommend it. Staff lovely.
Sunday brunch should not be so difficult. About 30 minutes after ordering, we were told that some items were not available. Why did it take 30 minutes, and why not nip across to Sainsbury's across the road to get them? It then took another 20 minutes for food to arrive - three of the four orders. The fourth was another 10 minutes. The general sense was that the servers had no idea what they were doing, and the place was in chaos. It was extremely disappointing.
Loved booth in window. Atmosphere not bad considering nicola not allowing background music. Friendly staff. Booked again for next week
Felt that we had to cut reservation short due to lack of preparedness for reopening post lockdown. Of all places we have been since July this was the most uncomfortable, compounded by blatant disregard for 2 household rule.
Great for brunch.
Always a great brunch in Kelvingrove Cafe. Friendly and warm service.
When we turned up the place was closed for demolition, even though you took our booking for 2pm, we had to run around to get somewhere else, not happy at all, got 1 star in all categories because giving none wasn’t an option.
waiter forgot our teas when we had our food put over to us. thought the food overpriced for what it was. website not clear that only brunch on offer till 4pm- it led me to believe that I could have had a dinner/lunch menu during the day as well. restaurant very dark. liked the fireplace in it. the poached eggs were perfect and the home made tattie scone very tasty.
Menu was very limited as they are due to have a refurb and this wasn’t mentioned on the website what we did order was lovely just a bit disappointed there wasn’t a full menu. Staff were great and very good service. Loved the place as it is doesn’t need a refurb tbh
The staff at Kelvingrove Cafe were absolutely brilliant at facilitating a surprise party I was organising for my partner. From initial conversations, to having me in to decorate/prepare and the evening of the party itself, the staff were friendly, helpful and thoughtful in making the night memorable for guests. Thanks so much again! The cellar bar is a lovely space with a good atmosphere which I'd highly recommend for an event or just to pop in for food or a drink. Laura
We were looking forward to brunch in the Kelvingrove cafe but the service was slow, the staff very all over the place and seemed to be suffering from the night before. The food was average given the price tag and my meal arrived without eggs despite this being a core compondent of my order. A number of tables walked out because they were not being served in ample time. We noticed wrong orders going out and tables not being cleared. We had requested whether it was possible to go into a booth, which two wait staff agreed to but the tables within the booth were never cleared so it wasn't possible to manage the flow of customers or for us to move into those seats. The coffees where great though and the eggs super tasty, when they eventually arrived.
I like the place the only thing I did not like the last time was that next to us they put 6 people for table at best for 4 and the people were too close to us very unwanted intimacy.
One of the best places to “brunch” in Glasgow!
Food and drink, very high quality. Lovely pub
Great service and lovely bar/ restaurant
