About Kelvingrove Cafe
In 1896 the Kelvingrove Café opened its doors for the first time and instantly became a favourite lunch spot for visitors to the recently finished Kelvingrove Park.
In 117 years it has had many different offerings but in 2013 we took it back to its Victorian roots and once again made it a contemporary European Grand Café. We are interested in knock out tastes and flavours that complement the social atmosphere of the café.
When we turned up the place was closed for demolition, even though you took our booking for 2pm, we had to run around to get somewhere else, not happy at all, got 1 star in all categories because giving none wasn’t an option.
waiter forgot our teas when we had our food put over to us. thought the food overpriced for what it was. website not clear that only brunch on offer till 4pm- it led me to believe that I could have had a dinner/lunch menu during the day as well. restaurant very dark. liked the fireplace in it. the poached eggs were perfect and the home made tattie scone very tasty.
Menu was very limited as they are due to have a refurb and this wasn’t mentioned on the website what we did order was lovely just a bit disappointed there wasn’t a full menu. Staff were great and very good service. Loved the place as it is doesn’t need a refurb tbh
The staff at Kelvingrove Cafe were absolutely brilliant at facilitating a surprise party I was organising for my partner. From initial conversations, to having me in to decorate/prepare and the evening of the party itself, the staff were friendly, helpful and thoughtful in making the night memorable for guests. Thanks so much again! The cellar bar is a lovely space with a good atmosphere which I'd highly recommend for an event or just to pop in for food or a drink. Laura
We were looking forward to brunch in the Kelvingrove cafe but the service was slow, the staff very all over the place and seemed to be suffering from the night before. The food was average given the price tag and my meal arrived without eggs despite this being a core compondent of my order. A number of tables walked out because they were not being served in ample time. We noticed wrong orders going out and tables not being cleared. We had requested whether it was possible to go into a booth, which two wait staff agreed to but the tables within the booth were never cleared so it wasn't possible to manage the flow of customers or for us to move into those seats. The coffees where great though and the eggs super tasty, when they eventually arrived.
I like the place the only thing I did not like the last time was that next to us they put 6 people for table at best for 4 and the people were too close to us very unwanted intimacy.
One of the best places to “brunch” in Glasgow!
Food and drink, very high quality. Lovely pub
Great service and lovely bar/ restaurant
Great bar with friendly, attentive service and excellent selection of drinks
First class as always. Food and ambiance amazing. Best bar in Glasgow
Only menu offered was brunch - 12 o’clock is usually brunch / lunch I expected a brunch or lunch menu......I would have preferred more soup / salads/ sandwiches etc
Wonderful food, drink, and atmosphere. Will be back for sure.
Fantastic service and atmosphere thank you
The food was absolutely delicious and the staff helpful and lovely. Will definitely visit again.
Great to be back. Good food, drinks and service. Getting a booth was a great touch!
We had a great dinner on Saturday. We arrived early which was tricky for the staff but they were really accommodating. We were a large table on a busy Saturday night. The food was absolutely delicious (starters especially!) and the service was great and really helpful. Was probably a bit noisier than I’d expected, but as I have never been in before I didn’t realise it is probably more bar than restaurant on a Saturday night. The noise didn’t bother us really, the older generation of the group were a little overwhelmed initially but they settled in and it was good to get them out of their comfort zone! All in all a great night, yummy food and helpful friendly staff, thanks.
Lovely brunch, really recommend the Ham & Eggs, very friendly and relaxed
Delicious burgers and friendly staff! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Fabulous night for my boyfriends surprise birthday. Staff were great and were so attentive, would 100% recommend!
A really lovely brunch with friendly service. Lovely setting. Highly recommended!
Efficient but friendly service despite a very busy bar.
Would have liked a more dinner menu for dinner but what we had the ribeye for hubby and mushrooms on toast and hummus/falafels with fries were tasty. Tables and plate a bit small to cut the steak and lighting was very low. Service was great and staff lovely and helpful.
When we got to the cafe we were told there was no reservation for us but as it wasn't busy we could sit anywhere we wanted. When we asked about the menu being different to what we saw online we were told it had been changed and the online site was behind. As what I wanted to eat was no longer available we went elsewhere.
Great ambience, and with the cold weather approaching, the open fire is a cosy feature! Staff is welcoming and attentive, and the food is very good. We have absolutely no complaints and will be back soon!
