About Kelvingrove Cafe
In 1896 the Kelvingrove Café opened its doors for the first time and instantly became a favourite lunch spot for visitors to the recently finished Kelvingrove Park.
In 117 years it has had many different offerings but in 2013 we took it back to its Victorian roots and once again made it a contemporary European Grand Café. We are interested in knock out tastes and flavours that complement the social atmosphere of the café.
Marked down for atmosphere, as hand on heart, I am not a dog lover and I am not keen on a dog, no matter how well behaved, being given the run of a place where I am eating. Had I known this beforehand I would not have booked but everything else, especially the waitresses, could not have been better
Excellent service. Food deserved to be better lit as it was delicious. It was very dark!
Very disappointed but possibly my fault for not reading the menus correctly. Not a place to go for a pre concert dinner. Small plates, not much variety and not many extra plates to choose from. Two scallops for a main course was not sufficient. Having said that food was lovely but be prepared to need a fish supper later.
We had a wonderful time on Sunday evening when we came in for food and cocktails as a birthday treat. We got there early but our table was all set already, which was great. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious and we were seriously so impressed which all the cocktail we tried. The playlist on that evening was also brilliant. Thanks for making our evening such a success!
Really lovely service
Great service particularly considering our reservation was bang on opening time, breakfast menu has something for everyone, poached eggs great way to start the day, defo be back for future team meetings over an excellent breakfast...……
Top quality food in a great atmosphere
Great food, good pub atmosphere and great, attentive and good humoured staff
Not the same menu as showing online. One member of staff unapproachable.
Good atmosphere and location but we seemed to be an inconvenience. Had to ask for glasses, request that we order and food took its time. We were going to a show at the hydro so very aware of timings.
Nice relaxed atmosphere, tasty food. Good pre-theatre choice for the hydro
Took a wee while to be served but food came quickly and was lovely. Relaxing and cosy atmosphere for a family brunch and dog friendly was a big bonus for us.
Excellent service and food
always fantastic service and superb staff! ... look forward to the new menu in coming weeks
Lovely place, friendly staff, tasty food - only downside is that it’s a bit on the pricey side.
I booked my table online for 6:15 however when I arrived I was booked in for 7:45. Luckly there was a table available, however I now wouldn’t use the online booking system.
We have provided a review on trip advisor. Very disappointed chef would not accommodate our requests for salads or even offer an alternative. Service also for soups was incredibly slow. By chef not accommodating our requests you lost out on money as instead of our bill being £13 we would have spent in the region of £30. You have aldo lost our future custom and positive recommendations to friends.
The experience started badly as I’d asked for a window booth seat. I was told abruptly that there wasn’t one free, even though there was an empty one. A bit of an explanation that the free booth was for 4 people would have helped my experience to get off to a better start. I felt like I wanted to go else where, but considering most places would be full I decided to stay. The first 2 drinks my guest ordered were not available and the big plate I ordered was not available either. This was my 3rd visit here for food, but the worst experience of them.
Had lovely food here, great atmosphere and friendly staff.
great set up and service for our trade event.
Fantastic cocktails and attentive table service. We were seated at a table by the window, as requested when making the booking. Best cocktail bar in Glasgow.
Liked the atmosphere. Food was good.
Best cocktail bar in Glasgow. Old school elegance and phenomenal service.
The drinks were brilliant and the atmosphere was great. Service was friendly but a little slow. Aubergine parmagiana and Mac and cheese were so good, as were the sides. The chicken Milanese was a bit mixed; nice chicken but the pasta was a bit overcooked and unbalanced. Overall really lovely though, would come back.
The team who look after us at the cellar room were fantastic! Specially considering how many of us were there. Thank you
