The food was delicious and the quality was perfect. Service, however, was not what you would expect at Sofitel. As we entered, we were promised to be seated on the lower terrace, closer to the Nile, because it opens at 6pm. At 5:30, a table was seated there. We asked to change the table and the hostess arguments were nothing but non-sense. After insisting, she agreed that we move but only to second row tables, "claiming" that the first row ones were "all" reserved at 7pm. Challenging her claim, she rudely replied that she's more aware of the restaurants reservations. And of course, only 1 out of 10 first row tables was taken as we were leaving at 7pm. Flagging this to the hostess was met with a rude reaction without even apologizing. Very disappointing incident!
Great food, great vies, great service. And there was even live music! Just as feedback, you were very quick in bringing in the foo which is great, but please just leave a bit of time between the entrance dishes and the main course. There was too much food in the table!
The location is cool, on the Nile with decent views. The staff are pretty good, although they could be a little more attentive. The issues we had relate to the food, particularly the portion size. I have been to many Arabic/Lebanese restaurants and have come to expect a certain quantity of food, especially the barbecue. We ordered 3 BBQ items off the menu, including a mixed grill, when it all came it wasn't enough to even cover 1 disk of local bread! The food we found to be dried out and over cooked. Whenever I have ordered lamb chops in the past i have always been given 6-8 pieces, this order came and was only 3, and that was supposed to include 2 from the mixed grill. In the end, the waiter was gracious enough to remove the separate order of lamb chops from the bill. It should be made very clear to the patrons of this restaurant that the portion sizes are not the standard or what you would expect from most other Arabic restaurants.

The mixed grill we ordered was disappointing. The restaurant was relying too much on the location and view and not much effort was put into making food of decent quality. Value for money definitely not worth it, you can get tastier food in Cairo for much less. The service was below average, our table did not have good lighting. I would definitely not recommend it.
Good view, food quality is good but not perfect, very bad service, very very expensive, the person in charge told us that all tables in the outdoor area were reserved and refused to let us stay in the outdoor area although they were all empty for hours!! Although also that when i did the reservation i requested a table by the nile! And again service is not professional at all.
We have had an unforgettable dining experience. It was impressed, everything was as we expected. Beautiful Nile views.
The servers need to be honest whether or not they speak English. Mine could not understand it, even if I pointed to the item in the menu.
Nice food service is ok but for the value of money I excepted better service and more people serving you plus it’s expensive
We made a reservation but when we arrived the table was not available. After 15 minutes the manager solved the problem very well.
This booking system does not work. I booked, got a confirmation and went. The restaurant had no idea and actually told me NOT to book online but to directly call the restaurant since there’s no one who relays the bookings to the restaurant!!!
Incredible Egyptian grill, right in front of the Nile
It does not make any sense to have an online booking when it is not liaised with the restaurant itself. We have made a booking that was not reflected at the restaurant and the restaurant itself conveyed explicitly that there was no connection between that system and the restaurant and gave us this link to submit the complaint. It is only because the restaurant staff were friendly in dealing with the issue that we have not changed the restaurant. To that effect, if you are not able to maintain a professional booking system, there is no need to establish one and cause unnecessary confusion.
Restaurant did not accept our reservation and said they had nothing to do with us booking online through the official Sofitel website and the hostess that met us upon arrival had a major attitude problem.
Greeter was preoccupied on a telephone call and could not find the reservation, I had to present confirmation email to be seated. Food was excellent, fresh and nicely seasoned. Service was unpolished and not up to the level I would expect at the Sofitel.
The best thing is the location & view, But food quality & taste is less than moderate, table cleanness is poor, cats going around the tables!!
Service was extremely bad! Food arrived cold and very poor quality. Gin tonics were absolutely rubbish given we paid 2.000 for 4 drinks! It is such a pity to see such a nice place becoming absolutely no value for money. We were two persons who paid a bill of 3.500 egp for pure rubbish food and service. Never again.
Food portion is very small
We were seated at the very end with a terrible view and the smell was horrible and a lot of flies and when we requested a better table they kept us waiting for a very long time until we decided to sit inside with no view whatsoever. keeping in mind we chose the restaurant solely for its view! The food was good but too little for its value for money.
The waiter was rude. Despite noting my gluten free food requirements when making dinner reservation, the waiter and his supervisor were totally oblivious or ignorant about food allergies. Their attitude of not accommodating me (such as substituting bread for rice, etc) was unacceptable. Only when we started raising our voice, they relented. Totally unacceptable customer service.
