The team from Juan Bowl & Tea Restaurant in Sydney, Australia, which was selected Best New Restaurant and Best Japanese Restaurant by Broadsheet Sydney in 2017, and nominated Best New Restaurant in Sydney by Time Out Magazine, will be opening “JUAN Wagyu Steakhouse” in Hakuba this year.
We have formed a brilliant team of chefs who have experience working in the some of the finest restaurants around the world, from Two and Three Hatted restaurants in Australia to Michelin star restaurants in France, Hong Kong, and Japan.
At JUAN Wagyu Steakhouse, we only have one item on the menu - an “omakase” platter.
Our chefs will hand select the freshest local & seasonal ingredients to create a beautifully balanced arrangement of foods, highlighting the best of what Japan has to offer.
Though ingredients will change with seasonality, our core menu will always consist of three cuts of premium Wagyu beef steaks - each chargrilled over binchotan charcoal. The wagyu steaks are accompanied by grilled vegetables & mushrooms, roasted & fried potato, our house salad, and a variety of condiments.
Leave it up to our chefs to take you on a culinary journey of explosive & decadent flavors - limited seating is offered, reservations highly recommended.

A brilliant time at this place! Great food, great staff! Well worth the money we spent. Good selection of wine and scotch. The appetizers were excellent. Would definitely go back.

I had heard great things about Juan and it delivered deliciously. The beef is sublime - a portion of wagyu rib eye was like nothing I'd ever tasted. The condiments - including wasabi, salt, spiced miso and Dijon - complemented the meat perfectly. The wine list is brief but on point, and they serve the best beer in Hakuba - Hakuba Brewing's IPA. The service was exceptional - friendly, and knowledgeable - and as a business owner in the area I've already started recommending Juan to my guests.
Booking a table was so easy and as we walked in we were greeted with a big smile from the waiters. Staff were professional, kind and accommodating. The food was SO delicious!! Would highly recommend a visit to this restaurant.
