About Jpb Restaurant
Jpb Restaurant is an urban eatery located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD offering a range of locally sourced and seasonally inspired dishes.
Australian born Executive Chef Joshua Askew has developed a passion and aptitude for mixing and matching Australia’s native produce with more traditional flavours.
A desire for food to imitate art, the menu will take each diner on a journey of flavour, colour and texture with meals cooked from the heart with the integrity of each ingredient in mind.
We had a lovely t8me and the food was great.
Great service, menu was well devised and thought about. Would recommend this restaurant without question.
I dined at Jpb Restaurant as part of a package that included a show at State Theatre and overnite accommodation at Swissotel. The service was fantastic and the three course meal was superb.
We had a set menu and loved everything we ordered. Hubby said it was the best calamari he had ever eaten. Well done Jpb for your food and service.
The server we had for dinner was excellent. Praise to him. But before the show we tried to have a coffee and was turned away. We were told there was no room yet there was an empty restaurant in front of us. We were told we were only allowed to sit there at breakfast time. So said we could sit at the bar and have a coffee. We were told no and sent away. The lack of service was disgusting. I'm glad there was a change for the evening meal. Regards Anne O'Callaghan Thanks Anne O'Callaghan
Good value. Service a little slow when busy.
Had the steak and burramundi. The protein was coined perfectly. Thou the sauces on the sides (carrot and brocollini) on my steak were a little too rich in flavour to my liking. The dimmi discount made it extra value for money.
We used a Groupon voucher for our meal. It was superb value for money. The food was incredible. The truffle fries were delicious but I have to say the carrot salad and bettor risotto were outstanding. Service was excellent, or waitress was very attentive and a pleasure to deal with.
I love dining at JPb - food is very good and reasonably priced, the place is nice, relaxed & quiet- not to mention the very hospitable staff.
absolute shimozzle waiters did not have a clue! one main came out 20min after the rest were served then the desserts took ages. for those prices you would at least expect a table cloth to cover those cheap tables ! very disappointed
Service was great a little slow to start, for a set menu at least. Food was well proportioned and tasty.
Food was good.
Extremely tasty food. Long waits for meals extended our time there, but enabled us to pace ourselves and purchase desserts. Our waiter forgot to place the order for one of our sides even though she had read it back to us. Maybe she assumed we had ordered enough without it. Apart from that, everything was great.
Good atmosphere. Nice place to catch up with friends over a meal. Staff are all friendly and knowledgeable.
We used to enjoy dining here and have been here many times before. Our experience this time has put us off and we will definitely not go back anymore. Poor service and food through and through. Took 15 minutes to bring vinegar and olive oil as the bread accompaniment. It was not balsamic vinegar but white vinegar. We had 4 steak orders and they were all messed up, with the wrong sides that came with the steak. They forgot to bring the coleslaw which was a side dish. We ordered “truffle chips” as listed in the menu. They served us normal chips and when we queried , it was most ridiculous that the waitress brought out a bowl of truffle oil and left it on the table. She told us to dip the already oily fat chips into the truffle oil. It was just absurd. There was a waiter that would only pass us the plates when serving food instead of putting them in front of us and on collection, he asked us to hand him the plates instead of collecting them from the table. The worst was yet to come. It took half an hour to finalise the payment. All was fine until I wanted to pay by American Express. I was fine with the 3% surcharge except that the new total reflected a surcharge of more. The young waitress went to seek the help of the lady manager. She was rude ,obnoxious, pompous and self-righteous She came over to our table and talked to us as if it was our problem when she could not work out the surcharge correctly. She was not apologetic about the whole saga.. She raised her voice at us several times for no reason. Her name was “Emmy” or “Amy”. Surely, there are a lot more choices for other restaurants for the price paid for the dinner.
My wife was given a voucher by our son, but we let it lapse. I contacted the restaurant and Natalie was kind enough to let us extend the valid date. In all our dealings with Natalie, she was awesome - thank you! However, that's where the good times finished. We were served on Saturday night by MJ who was terrific, but she seemed to be the only one serving. She was frantic. As a result, service was quite slow. It took ages for us to have even our drinks order taken. According to the voucher, and my son, the value was for $200, but we were told it was only for $160 (2 x $79). There were 4 entrees to choose from, but only the vegetarian selection was included - all others required a $5 upgrade. Similarly with the mains and desserts, upgrades were required. Even some of the wines on the list required an upgrade - why even put them on there? I ended up spending an extra $60, which would have only been $20 if the correct value had been attached to my voucher. At no point did anybody come past and ask how the meal was - my wife's "upgraded" salmon was over cooked, and nobody poured our wine - no big deal as we managed to do that ourselves, but not what we were expecting. After we had paid our excess on our bill, some "waiter" finally asked us if we wanted more water! As I said, MJ was lovely and very good at her job, but the rest of the staff looked as though they were on work experience and certainly did not support her or make her job any easier.
I booked Jpb Restaurant through Dimmi and when I arrived Jpb didn't have any reservation for me and it's not the first time this has happened.
Food was great, but did take a bit long to get to the table.
Quite disappointed with the Fondue experience. The staff that guided to my table didn't know about the promotion and said that it was new so she didn't know much about it. I beg to disagree as this promotion has been running for two weeks. Then it was 15mins later when I was actually served. I did make mention to her that I had booked under the Accor Family and Friends deal which included a "Carafe of mulled wine" and two addons for free. It took 30mins for water to be delivered to the table. During the dining, I noticed that some friends of the waitstaff had come to dine also, and she was spending some time chit chatting with them. I also noticed for 30mins that the two floor staff avoided my table and only acknowledged other tables. It was then I walked directly to the bar myself to request for some water to be refilled. At this time I heard the bar staff who was settling the bill for another customer that PayWave would incur a surcharge but no surcharge would be incurred if she swiped the card as credit or put into the pin slot. I went and sat back at my table and a waitstaff came over with the jug of water to refill my empty glasses with a very unpleasant face. I approached the bar to settle the bill. The staff member asked how was the fondue in which I replied "It was ok". I would expect her to react and proactively ask me as the customer as to why it was not great. But this never happened. She then asked how was the mulled wine and I responded that it wasn't even warm let alone hot. When I looked at the bill, the waitstaff whom entered the details into the Micros clearly did not know the product offering. I did show her the printout which stated "Carafe of Mulled wine" and two addons. However, no attention to detail by your staff as she had charged me for two "glasses" of mulled wine and the two addons. The staff said if it was ok on "credit" not PayWave and I replied "yes as I heard the other bar staff telling another customer that there would be a surcharge on Paywave so I would like credit to avoid." Again, staff did not listen and PayWave with surcharge to my card. I don't mind paying if I said ok to go ahead. But if I had already mentioned to her no, then she should have followed through and Paywave surcharge. This is not the service I expect from a 5-star hotel. Staff not aware of product offering (promotion started 1June) and staff incorrectly over-charging customer on the promotion and not providing the same advertised offering. "Carafe of mulled wine" does not equate to two half cup of wine. My expectation is a "carafe" is served, as opposed to two half a cup of mulled wine. I can accept the if the advertised flyer stated "two cup of wine", however it states "Bonus inclusions: complimentary carafe of mulled wine and 2 add-on". There was a lot of fault in this dining experience. One which I am quite disappointed as I am constantly promoting how great Swissotel brand is to family and friends.
