Jpb Restaurant is an urban eatery located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD offering a range of locally sourced and seasonally inspired dishes.

Australian born Executive Chef Joshua Askew has developed a passion and aptitude for mixing and matching Australia’s native produce with more traditional flavours.

A desire for food to imitate art, the menu will take each diner on a journey of flavour, colour and texture with meals cooked from the heart with the integrity of each ingredient in mind.

This would have to be one of our worst nights out. We specifically chose the restaurant as the website said they would cater for dietary requirements. Instead they gave me a menu with most things crossed off and no options as alternatives. The table was given bread but there was no GF option. The meals came out at different times so some members of the party either ate it or had a cold dinner. Two meals had to be returned as the medium steaks were virtually blue and cold. The waitress cleared plates before everyone was finished and then tried to take plates before we had finished what was on our plates. For such and expensive and supposedly high end restaurant, we were disgusted that the waitress was setting up for breakfast around us and it was only 7.30pm. Needless to say we will not be back.

Food was superb and although the staff were aware that we needed to be finished at a certain because we were going to a show it was bought to us in a timely manner without feeling rushed between courses. Drinks menu had a very large variety of craft beers which pleased hubby immensely. Disappointed and a little surprised that they had run out of oysters by 6pm! and felt the soup entrée was a little exe at $16. The tables were well spaced so we didn't feel over crowded however it was disappointing that a small toddler from another table was allowed to run between all of the empty tables, and at one point, climbed up and started playing with the fresh cutlery and serviette, parents not stopping him and staff either oblivious to or ignoring this. I do hope the table cutlery was changed prior to another guest sitting there. But overall, a very good experience, staff very attentive, great location as directly opposite the State Theatre, and we will definitely come back again.

The food was tasty though the fillet steak was not'melt in your mouth'. Service was charming though there was a tendency to whip plates away whether finished or not. the atmosphere is not conducive to quiet conversation.

Unfortunately we ordered oysters for entree but they never came out, the wine we ordered was warm so we changed for another, and I had the pasta of the day which the pasta was not fresh at all so sorry won't be coming back here.

Disappointing. We were on the budget menu. The extra charge to upgrade was disproportionately high. Our food was quite bland. Would not need much effort to lift above the ordinary.

I've dined here many times over the last few years and have always had a wonderful meal. The service is excellent the food divine. Cannot fault anything. Depending on the day the atmosphere can be varied however always comfortable.

The servings were quite small. I really didn't consider it a truly 4 course menu. Table was wobbly. Alot of surcharge extras if you don't watch each item you are ordering on the menu. We were even chased out the door for an extra $5.00 which was rather embarrassing. It appeared to others as if we left without paying the whole bill. Humiliating to say the least & totally indiscreet.

Entre of chopped cucumber was rediculous and tasteless. Main of beef brisket- was tough, so much that we couldn't chew the bottom. Dessert was only descent addition. We were asked feedback- which didn't go down well and they seemed uninterested in-but were happy to take our money-including $9 for a few tough beans that we also didn't bother eating. We had a voucher- but even at half the price of the voucher i could have got a better feed anywhere. Glad we didn't pay the $200 the meal was apparently worth.

Service was slow at the beginning and then perfect after that, meals came out in good time and drinks were topped up regularly. Food was ok, the brisket was a bit tough in parts but the salt and pepper calamari was great The cheesecake and brownie was delicious. Seated by the window with a good view of centre point tower. Music in the bar was terrible, sounded like 2080 elevator music.

Staff were generally friendly and attentive but requires some additional training. Food was ok, good value though the chicken we got was a bit dry and need more seasoning. Overall a good dinning experience, but not a 5* dinning experience for a 5 * hotel restaurant.

Although the service in the most part was excellent I feel that a 5 star venue should pour wine as a glass is empty rather than the diner having to do it.

The add on money for some choices on the menu was a bit rude..it didnt state that on the purchase of coupon.. The seating throught the hotel is very uncomfortable for a five star place.

Our 4th but last dinner at JBD and I’m sorry but it was the worst. We have been 4 times over 3 years for Groupon dinners here but no more. I realise this is to a price but would be happy to pay more for better food and basic service. We got there at 6.20, order taken about 6.50 after trying to get attention of any waitress. Got wine fast but no coke for my daughter for about 30 mins. Main over 1hr 20 min after ordering. Got out of there just before 9pm! Waitress did finally apologise but only a few people (and 1 group of teenagers) in restaurant. Dip was ordinary - last time got 3 dips. A strange chopped quartered cucumber on drops of sauce for entree? A nice (but did not know shared) brisket OR chicken with no sides at all. Luckily ordered chips (which were large portion and tasty). Dessert was a shared ordinary cheesecake. Sorry - not Swisshotel standard.

Arrived at 6pm. Theatre at 8pm took 45 mins for dips to arrive and it got worse from there. Had to leave before dessert Cucumber salad was awful. Will not return

The service was chaotic, the waiting staff seemed inexperienced and inept, there was a long wait between courses and dessert was delivered to the table before our main courses. We mentioned that we hadn't had our mains and the waiter took the desserts away but they came back two minutes later via a different waiter.

We felt the restaurant lacked atmosphere and we were also very surprised that we were not provided with utensils with which to serve our food. It was great service and tasty food and we were pleased we were dining on a voucher and had not paid full price.
