About Jidori Covent Garden
Yakitori and Japanese small plates restaurant, with a karaoke room for larger parties.
We aim to bring the atmosphere, fun and food of izakayas to London with carefully sourced ingredients and delicious drinks to accompany.
Delicious food. Defo try the pickle back too!
Had a brilliant night with our booking and made the celebration extra special with their care! The food was amazing too, highly recommend.
Lloyd was a great host! Love all the different levels, but mostly the friendly service.
Absolutely lovely dinner!
Service was really quite bad. No one greeted us as we walked in, so waited for ages. Staff kept bringing food / drinks to the wrong tables. Asked for clean plates / napkins / drinks - had to ask numerous times for these to be brought to us. Explained the set menu incorrectly to us. They were clearly new, and didnt know anything - what you should have done is explained this upfront, and apologise for any slowness / errors in service, rather than just messing everything up and not acknowledging it. However, the food & sake was very nice.
We had such a fun night, a really good spot for a team night out or group get together. Lloyd was amazing!
This was my third visit as the first two had simply blown me away. We came back with the most critical foodie in the family and, sadly, the food just wasn't as good a previously. The barbequed (grilled?) prawns were this time served not the the delicious charred bbq sauce but with butter and an herb, nothing exciting and they tasted under-done. We didn't get the same kind of guidance on the menu so tried a couple of different things which were not as good as options we'd had previously. And the amazing dessert that we'd been so excited to have seemed to have been thrown together. The ginger ice cream was icy and didn't taste as fresh as previously, there wasn't much of the sauce, there was less of everything. The service, which previously had been warm and personal, was distracted and hurried -- we had four different servers! So, unfortunately, just when we really wanted to show off our amazing find, it let us down a bit. Please don't let standards here slip as this was previously a total gem.
We had an amazing meal, the staff were very attentive and provided some great recommendations. Superb.
Unforgettable experience, delicious food and an all-round wonderful evening. Will be back for plum wine and the best chicken ever!
Less vegetarian options then we expected. Told menu had recently changed.
The food was very good but not what we are used to with Japanese our fault as we should have asked more about the menu price wise I felt for the decor etc it was overpriced service was first class
Great night at Jidori’s karaoke room. Despite the karaoke failing intermittently due to an error with The Lucky Voice service, the Jidori team were responsive and helpful throughout, and compensated us very well for the issues - which we were extremely grateful for. Great food and drinks, and brilliant service from Lloyd and the team.
Great food Shame about the service Booked the taster menu for a group of 9 in the private room - she had no idea when we arrived. It’s like we hadn’t booked. Drinks took over half an hour to come and the food even longer. We had to keep asking for cutlery. At the end expecting pudding she said it wasn’t included. I had to bring the online menu up to prove it. She then said there was none and so offered to takes measly £3 each off the bill. Not enjoyable but a shame as the food was actually really good
Excellent food! For those in search of traditional Japanese rice in London this is the place to go! The skewers were delicious and reminded me of my trips to Tokyo. Can’t wait to go back
The staff were lovely and the location was great. Unfortunately the Valentine's Day set menu left a lot to be desired given the price tag. Aside from the final course, we found the food to be quite bland and poorly presented. The cauliflower ceviche was particularly bad - slices of raw cauliflower in lemon juice - no garnish to dress it up slightly. I am not sure how long this branch has been open - perhaps teething problems. Unfortunately quite disappointing.
I ordered rose wine and they got me rosso. We were fine with it but the second glass has dregs in it. Food was good tho, the yakitori is legit.
Came for lunch and had a lovely time. Food was delicious and good quality.
Very unimpressed with the food overall.
Absolutely delightful evening. Our host Lloyd was exceptionally friendly and brilliant, thank you!
We had a nice time, the pudding was delicious - ginger ice cream - but the katsu chicken dish very stodgy
Very good at catering for a gluten free and vegan diet! Will be going back for sure.
Delicious food as always!
Very cute restaurant, intimate and great food! Lots of veggie options too!
We had a really great night in Jodori’s karaoke room. The food was great, the staff were friendly and we had a great time with them. Having the private room to sing karaoke in was perfect for our event. Am already raving about the place to friends
The food was nice enough and the staff were very friendly but the overall experience was pretty shocking. My initial drink took 30mins to come and my girlfriends took 40mins. This is despite us enquiring twice. When the drinks did arrive the cocktail was extremely small. Certainly the smallest I’ve ever been served and not value for money. The atmosphere was ruined as the tables around us also had problems. One table were told halfway through that their food had been given to other tables and they had no more food left. When our set menu came out it was nice but I’d say it was warm not hot, felt like it had been sitting somewhere for a while. The last drinks we ordered never came but they did find their way onto the bill along with the 12.5% service charge. I protested to the waitress that I didn’t think it was fair to be forced to pay a service charge when the service was so poor. She apologised and said that they were very busy this evening. I’m sorry, but you are a central London restaurant on a Saturday night. You are supposed to be busy. Have told my friends to avoid.
