About Jidori Covent Garden
Yakitori and Japanese small plates restaurant, with a karaoke room for larger parties.
We aim to bring the atmosphere, fun and food of izakayas to London with carefully sourced ingredients and delicious drinks to accompany.
Nice surprise. But, anything that’s beef is NOT yakitori.
Great value for the omakase menu and yakitori was done well
Hard to believe a Japanese restaurant doesn't know how to make proper rice. But its true here. Must be the only restaurant in the world that does not carry carbonated beverages
I personally wouldn’t go back it wasn’t terrible but not great either
Karaoke room was really good fun and the staff were very attentive - racing down the stairs to keep us well fed and watered. Microphones didn't work too well, but that didn't stop us from singing our hearts out. Unique and fun experience with friends that comes with good food.
Service was very good!
I've visited the Kingsland Road chain a lot over the years and I absolutely love it. Thursday evening was my first time visiting the Covent Garden branch and it paled in comparison. The atmosphere upstairs was gloomy and also loud disco was being pumped it which didn't really help or create the mood I'd expect. The yakitori set was great as usual and I was looking forward to eating the ginger ice cream as in the flagship store it's one of my favourite desserts. It was served with almost no miso caramel which means the dish didn't work, and upon mentioning this to the waitress she became very curt and suggested we just order another dessert. I asked if we could just have more caramel and she agreed, returning with about a teaspoons worth saying they had almost run out. She was visibly frustrated with us, and afterwards I requested removing it from our bill and she started saying we should should just chosen something else, blaming us for the problem. Overall we we're really disappointed, more about the atmosphere and service than the food, but you can definitely feel the lack of quality control happening here.
We booked the karaoke room and tasting menu and it was great - excellent food and service and the karaoke setup was awesome too.
The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We had the avocado/seaweed salad (fyi it much more cabbage than seaweed) was tasty; and my yakitori bowl was very nice. Favorite find was the shiso lemonade.
Out of 6 items i wanted 2 where not available. The chicken thighs were undercooked The cocktail i had didnt taste nice so i left it. No atmosphere in place and you need air conditioning. The only 2 dishes worthy of enjoying were the kimchee and the scotch egg. No where near the quality you would and should expect.
Delicious Japanese food which is great to share with friends! The karaage, gyoza and Rasu were our favourites as well as the gin yuzu fizz cocktail!!
The restaurant is cozy. Food preparation and flavour were great. Good selection of sake. The beef tataki was excellent! The sashimi was very good but a small plate for £15, a bit pricey and not their speciality. The tebasaki, shiitake and enoki were great! Service was prompt and waitress was well informed but not native Japanese. Cost was not cheap, about £80 for two.
This was a really lovely dining experience with great service and ambience. Rapheal was very entertaining and did an amazing job in looking after us throughout the evening. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. I will definably be retiring very soon.
Staff were fantastic, had a lovely time! :)
I find 10.30pm closing extremely early for Theatreland, but if the staff really want to leave at 10.30pm no new tables should be accommodated after 9pm as the atmosphere and service suffer (and 1.5hrs is the minimum you should have for a meal!). The food was good but not great. Definitely not worth the money. But it could be because it was prepared in a rush.
Absolutely faultless - excellent service and delicious food. Great value too. A real find!
The food was pretty average. The decor was sweet. The service was friendly.
A beautiful menu with so much choice, yet each individual dish was perfect and clearly made with love and attention. The recommendations we received from the lovely waiting staff at Jidori were taken on board and much appreciated! A lovely peaceful spot in chaotic Covent Garden with absolutely delicious food. Will be back for sure and spread the word!
A very disappointing experience both from a culinary and hospitality point of view. We reserved the Karaoke room for a corporate dinner on a Wednesday evening. Generally, we were treated quite poorly - talked down to by staff when asking simple questions about the menu or drinks availability. We were especially flabbergasted when we were told off for "singing too loudly" in a private Karaoke room (isn't that the point?). However, the most disappointing was the food: quite substandard in quantity and quality. The small plates (edamame beans, pickled veggies...) are actually just hors d'oeuvre/appetizers. The main dish is composed of very basic chicken skewers that, honestly, felt undercooked. I would not recommend booking their karaoke room & the set menu that goes with it.
My friend and I had such a great experience here. The manager was incredibly friendly and lovely! Very accommodating too with regards to gluten intolerance. The chef was able to adapt some dishes to suit and the manager explained the whole menu extremely well. I would definitely visit again :)
Service team with no knowledge of vegan options, incomplete dishes delivered, average food
Had such a fun night in the karaoke room, the food was amazing and the staff were great!
Really enjoyed our Omasake tasting menu. Good service and nice time.
