About Jacobs Plough
The dining room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner – rural British cuisine with fine wines and beer.
For a more laid back dining experience, have a seat in the bar, snug or on the terrace
Service was simple, efficient, attentive, with genuine smiles and friendliness. We were looked after so well I was wowed from the start. Food was delicious. The double cheese burger was enormous and made with proper ingredients, and excellent meat. We ordered way too much but we're kindly offered to take the rest home. It was my first visit but I can say for sure that they have won loyalty of a client. It's not just any pub. Thanks team at Jacob's Plough. That was great!
Excellent place all round. Superb service and fantastic food
Food was good although too salty. Tables too close together. The totally enclosed outside space was not suitable for friends to sit together, there was no ventilation and should be treated as an indoor eating space with all Covid rules in place. Temperatures not taken upon entering. Sign outside saying wait here, we did no one came out so we just walked in. People sat by the fire with dogs drinking, no evidence of any food on the table. Sadly overall I would not eat there again until proper Covid procedures are in place.
the Roast Lamb was amazing!
Diet Coke was sparkling water with a coke flavour. Fish was slimey as battered with scales still on. Chips were generic oven chips. Good service and nice atmosphere. Just a shame food and drink wasn’t great
Very disappointed booked for 6 people at 4pm, there was no starters, no sides and only 1 desert left. We also found £18 for a roast very expensive for what we received. It was my mothers birthday, so was a special occasion. We understand times are tough, but we booked weeks ago, so we believe more stock should have been ordered knowing you had a table booked.
Food delicious lovely pub
Lovely Sunday roast, beautifully decorated pub really felt cosy and homely would definitely return in the future.
Food at atmosphere lovely. Came on Sunday so it was roast day. Only criticism is that if you don’t want a roast, you’re stuck.
Great job overall last night, thanks!
The service was amazing, all staff members were friendly and helpful, food was fantastic too. We came for my girlfriend’s birthday and had a great time. Even with COVID restrictions it felt as close to a normal night out as can be. We’ll definitely be back.
Friendly pub with excellent food
Looking forward to December to do it again. As usual, great food and great service
This was the first time we’d come to Jacob’s Plough and we were thoroughly impressed- especially given the current climate and stresses with Covid. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was relaxing. Keep up the great work and we look forward to coming back once lockdown 2 has eased!
The food was disappointing.
A great night. Very good service and the food was top notch
A very friendly and well organised traditional pub. Food was excellent as was the service. Very clean and safe and clean. Very nice!
Booked a table for birthday called to confirm was told 4pm we would be able to order food. Arrived at 3.55pm to be told we could not eat and was rudely spoken to by a member of staff who clearly couldn’t be bothered. She was more interested in giving us dirty looks up and down. She did not even take my name for the booking just proceeded to moan that we wouldn’t be able to eat as kitchen was closed and it wasn’t her fault that the booking had been made. Will never go back. Won’t be recommending and have complained to all I know who go to the pub regularly!
We had a lovely meal and drinks
Best roast in the area. Attentive & Proffesional staff. Well worth a visit
We booked for a Sunday roast - 2 courses for £20. The service was slow and they kept asking us what we would like to order, to which we replied every time we’d ordered online like we’d been asked too. Service for our drinks and mains was fast, but we had to wait 30 mins for our dessert to arrive. Also had to wait 5 mins after our mains arrived for our sides to come The roast potatoes seems under cooked. I had the chicken and there wasn’t much meat, mostly skin and bone - my partner had the pork and there was lots of meat!
Fantastic tasting breakfast and coffee’s - would highly recommend to friends and family
Great leisurely brunch with a friend. Fantastic coffee and a delicious breakfast. Disappointed my poached eggs were over cooked and my toast was the end of the loaf but everything else was perfect.
A great tasty meal and thankyou so much for being dog friendly . We will come again for sure
