About Jacobs Plough
The dining room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner – rural British cuisine with fine wines and beer.
For a more laid back dining experience, have a seat in the bar, snug or on the terrace
Very nice, freshly cooked food at a reasonable price. Service was a bit hit and miss, Saturday lunchtime and there was only us eating so lacked some atmosphere
Shocking poor meal. Dirty cutlery, chicken akin to cardboard, mash potato with hard lumps in, corn the cob over cooked etc etc. A thoroughly poor experience that is now becoming common place at the Jacobs establishments. Standards have dropped significantly.
We waited almost an hour for our brunch when we were the only people in the restaurant. When some of the food finally arrived it was either cold or had clearly been under heat lamps for quite some time. Most of it was inedible and some of the food never arrived.
Our food took a while to arrive. When it did, one of our meals was incorrect and was sent back to the kitchen. The rest of us had finished our meals and been sitting for some time before the final meal arrived. We had watched 2-3 of the final meal be put out to other diners before ours arrived.
What a delight Jacob’s Plough is, especially the staff and manager. We had a lovely family meal from a great menu with great service in a lovely surrounding and atmosphere. Five star service, five star people.
It was a fantastic Sunday Lunch in a relaxed dog friendly atmosphere
Really good beef and lamb roasts
Utterly useless. Made a reservation for 9pm. Arrived. Laughed at and told the kitchen closes at 9pm.
A brilliant afternoon and great effort from the staff at the Jacobs Plough considering we were 28 people! All food arrived promptly with no issues. A great place to spend time with work colleagues! Will definitely be returning with my family
Nice food with very attentive service.
Food excellent. However service was poor. Forgot our side order, and forgot our wine. Felt like service was still fitting for the old pub not the new rebranded upmarket restaurant.
Good addition to Bicester
Always a pleasure to eat here. Friendly helpful staff. Delicious food, especially the cauliflower cheese.
Lovely food and service, would go again for a treat.
Friendly staff, good wine. Roast was nice, but meat cut a tad too thick and roast potatoes were average - but on the whole it was very nice and veg was lovely. Good choice of desserts and coffees. Tip added to bill, but that's fine as staff were great. Would definitely book again.
This was the worst ‘special’ meal out for Mother’s Day. We were stuck in a corner, waited more than an hour for our main course which came WITH the whitebait we’d ordered as a ‘while we are waiting’ sharing snack. For our two young children, this was an utterly unacceptable wait. We weren’t offered free prosecco, we cleared our own table onto the empty table next to us, as we waited so long for it to be cleared. We had to go to the bar for drinks and to request a dessert menu. Again we waited for our puddings, and we had to go to the bar AGAIN to find out why they were so delayed. Extremely disappointing, especially given that we frequently saw groups of staff standing chatting. Not at all special for the special mummy we were taking out to lunch. When I attempted to complain, I was simply told my comments would be passed to the general manager. I wasn’t offered the opportunity to speak to the manager myself, or any recompense. We won’t be visiting again.
We went here for Mother's Day and the food was wonderful, the service was very good and I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Great evening, we really enjoyed everything about our visit, thank you.
We were very surprised about the high amount of salt on the chips in the children's meal. Children's meal was also served boiling hot so naturally a hungry toddler just wants to eat it straight away, which meant we have to take food away from him until it was cooler. This was obviously not understood by a two year old.
Nice pub and good food.
Very disappointed and angry that my 2 year old was served his children’s meal on a scorching hot plate. The waitress couldn’t even touch it. The kitchen or waitress should have known better. Kindly the manager discounted our bill but at the end of the day had my child actually been burned it would have been another matter. I hope the kitchen has been spoken to so this doesn’t happen again. It certainly ruined my meal to see my child distressed if only temporarily. Our meals were only placed under the heat lamps while we were comforting him outside which meant they weren’t particularly hot when we got to eat them. By this time I didn’t really care but it would have been nicer if they were prepared again.
Good service. Excellent Sunday lunch.
Really great food but service was slow, and this impacted the overall experience.
Very nice sharing platters. We all liked the fact the restuarent is just off the pub so it feels very relaxed and informal. Thanks to staff for great service as always (third time we visited) and we’ll be back soon!!
