About Irvin Bar Grill
Irvin Bar Grill is a cosy local restaurant in Crouch End offering a jaunty mix of Italian cuisine, Scottish produce, lovely Italian wines and a good whisky list. Dishes come from the kitchen and grill as small & larger plates that can be eaten in a traditional three course menu or more off piste in the “cicchetti” fashion, like Italian tapas.
Food is cooked within season as much as possible & presented in simple yet elegant style, always with an eye for colourful flavour balance. Wines are all Italian, using only Italian grape varieties, mostly from small growers and carefully chosen for quality and variety. Order by the glass, caraffe of bottle. Start with a lively poke from the cocktail menu and finish with a dash of vim from our nicely rounded whisky list, perfect with a slab of Scottish tablet.
Have a seat at the bar up front or at a table in the relaxed dining room at the back.
The haggis arancini were the meal's highlight
Lovely original place with a jazzy feel to it. the food is high standard and very tasty.
Great food, great service. Such a friendly atmosphere and the staff were very attentive. Not our first visit and certainly not our last
Very high standard of food, very interesting wines. Stylish and serious about quality . Very pleasant evening.
My absolute favourite place. I love everything about it. The food is always fresh and delicious and beautiful. Great wines and the negronis and espresso martinis are lethally divine. Steven is a wonderful host. The perfect restaurant.
There are a lot of options for eating out in Crouch End, but Irvin is consistently right at the top of my list. Especially love the service and fact that you can order wine in 500ml carafes, but it's lovely all-round.
Friendly staff!!! Great food. Will visit again.
Always love coming to Irvin. The food and wine is excellent and the staff delightful.
This is an excellent place. The staff are fantastic, especially Stella, who is great fun. The food is of high quality, the polenta chips being a particular highlight. Not so good for the waistline however! And to round it out, the wine is great and the selection of whiskey is pretty impressive and a good way to finish off the evening. It really is a good night out.
Consistently good over the last 2 years, thank you Irvin!
Still our favourite restaurant in Crouch End and that’s unlikely to change. Great food and service great plus the owners are so very lovely
Had a lovely lunch for a friend’s birthday. The lunch deal is great value, service is impeccable as always - nothing ever too much trouble. One of my favourite places in Crouch End!
Everything we ate, from the haggis arancini, to the fennel salad was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!
Love this place
Third time here. The food is always delicious and service attentive but relaxed.
Really enjoyed the food at Irvin Grill - the selection was really interesting. We had the haggis arancini (how could you not?) and the meat platter to start. Felt the platter was a little overpriced for the amount of food, and usually you would see olives/caramelised onion/some kind of relish alongside but instead there were just a couple of leaves and 1 small cocktail onion to share. Service was very slow- took 15 minutes for someone to take our drinks orders. We were told that she would fetch some side plates when the starters were brought, and then this was another wait so we had actually eaten the arancini before she came. However we could not fault the food, it was fantastic. My partner's venison was cooked perfectly, and my pearl barley risotto was very flavoursome. The waitress felt so bad by the end, that she comped us two glasses of wine ... the niceness of which was slightly reduced when a bottle of red then appeared mysteriously on our bill. We would definitely return, but maybe on a Mon-Weds evening when its less busy, as the wait staff definitely did not seem prepared for a Friday night service.
Amazing food. Great friendly atmosphere. Best food I’ve had in ages.
The food was delicious but we would have liked more generous portions for the price. Also both the venison and the onglet were served at room temperature which disappointed us both but we still enjoyed the dishes very much.
I have eaten here in the past and loved it. But I'm afraid that this time we found the meat portion to be very small - 2 tiny slithers of venison for £26. And the onglet wasn't deliciously tender, it was a bit chewy and tough. It was a pleasant enough meal but overpriced.
The food was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend.
We had a great lunch on Valentine's day - delicious food & wine and the fixed price 2 course menu was excellent value. We'd walked past the restaurant many times since it first opened and thought the Scottish/Italian mix a little odd - but having now tried it, can say it really works and we'll definitely go back to Irvin again!
Great food and atmosphere. Relaxed and friendly.
