About Iris Restaurant
Iris is a contempary British restaurant located in the heart of Wakefield city centre, close to the cathedral and the Bull Ring fountains. Set up by chef Liam Duffy in 2012 the 50 cover restaurant was refurbished to create a modern dining experience.
As in the past visits, the food was outstanding.
Food was great and overall we both really enjoyed it. We’ll certainly be back!
We’ve been before and loved the food and service but this time the food was rushed (and therefore cold) and was just nothing special. For the food we had, plus 3 drinks between us nearly £80 felt steep, especially given the lack of atmosphere, the mediocre food and the feeling of just being rushed through ASAP. The waitresses were lovey though, polite and helpful. We are unlikely to be returning sadly.
Pleasant atmosphere and wonderful food. Would certainly recommend the Iris.
The festive menu had a wide variety of choice and the food was amazing. A great venue for a work's Christmas lunch.
Great night, amazing food and fantastic service, thanks for another great night, everybody enjoyed it, will be back again.
Table available exactly on time and welcome greeting very friendly. Menu selection very good and service excellent.
The food was, as always, excellent The service was a bit hit and miss, BUT it was a very busy night in the run up to Christmas, with several, large tables to attend to, so was understandable and didn't have a huge impact on our enjoyment. Highly recommend this place.
Consistently Great Food, probably the best Sunday Roast around.
We love coming here for Sunday lunch, it’s always excellent!
Lovely fresh food
We had a couple of predining requests relating to seating and food intolerances. Both requests were excellently dealt with enhancing our overall experience.
We had a lovely evening. Thanks you.
Food was amazing as usual. Staff attentive and knowledgeable. See you again in a few weeks.
We eat at Iris a lot and I was really disappointed with the new menu. Nothing on the desert menu was GF - and whilst the chef was happy to adapt everything, it always meant ‘leaving something off’ - in the past I’ve always had a choice of one or 2 options. The new menu seems much more limited
Pleasant evening with a friend. Excellent food will definitely return
Food was exceptional. Great quality produce.
For the cost of the meals, its a shame vegetables aren't included. Its not as tho they are expensive. This was the main gripe of all my party.
Excellent food and excellent value for money. Would highly recommend
Lovely food. Our only comment would be that there appeared to be new staff who although charming didn’t know the menu and as the restaurant was busy they were a bit lost when asked questions. We still had a great evening
Some of the courses were lovely. Some of them were just okay. The berries pudding was a very strange texture and tasted slightly strange if you didn’t have any berries in a mouthful. I still enjoyed the ‘ten plates’ experience though. This is the second one I’ve been to and I would come again.
Service was slow to start. We were asked to arrive at 6.45 for our table at 7pm but it was after 7.15 before the first course was received.
Poor quality of food which was very disappointing. Pate tasted sickeningly creamy, the cauliflower tasted of cold milk .. just very disappointed. Only 2 other tables in which was strange considering the website showed it was fully booked. Numerous people have said they always struggle to get a table here yet when they do it’s empty.
