About Iris Restaurant
Iris is a contempary British restaurant located in the heart of Wakefield city centre, close to the cathedral and the Bull Ring fountains. Set up by chef Liam Duffy in 2012 the 50 cover restaurant was refurbished to create a modern dining experience.
very disappointing. We have been many times before, until this Saturday, there has been a male waiter and every time he has been fantastic. The service has always been excellent an we have recommended lots of people to you. However, this time, 2 female waitresses were in the restaurant.. The service was very slow from start to finish. The food was very good as usual with the exception of the sauces. The Diane was very watery and tasted of garlic, we swapped this for peppercorn but again, very oily, watery and no taste, we have eaten these sauces many times over the past year and these were not at all like they usually were, we thought maybe a different chef was in? we didnt eat it. We complained to the waitress about the slow service and she blamed the kitchen and the fact I had chosen dumplings. We were not warned this dish took a long time to cook. we didn't order starters and it took around 50 minutes to receive out food. The waitress knew we had been unhappy but did not offer anything , we were even charged £1 for the horrible sauce we had to send back. We did not pay the £1. All in all, not up the usual standard and we may have to rethink where we eat on a Saturday lunch if we get similar poor service again which is a shame.
Really lovely food and service thank you for a lovely night
Lovely menu, good service, very lovely evening thank you.
Delicious food, great service - and thanks to Liam for emailing us a vegan menu for our guests to choose from. Love the refurb - it still feels like Iris!
As it was a Thursday night on our recent visit the atmosphere seemed to be slightly lacking. Music may possibly add more ambience.
The makeover was much appreciated. New menu was varied and good value.
Amazing fine dining restaurant
Food and atmosphere was 5 * would definitely recommend and return.
Great job with updating the downstairs. The dauphinoise potatoes didn’t seem to have any cream in them.
Lovely meal as always
Great food friendly staff and value for money.
Excellent, good value food and drink, in a pleasant environment, served very efficiently.
Went for Sunday lunch and we were very impressed. The food and service was excellent and we will definitely be back.
Lovely food as usual and excellent value for money.
My 4th time at the iris, great as always.
Food is superb & extremely good value for money.
I have been coming to Iris since it opened and it's always delivered. New menu and decor well worth trying...give it a go.
Excellent food and great value for money on the £10 main dish menu! Much more enticing interior Decor as well
Food just delicious. All service staff were absolutely lovely, we were a large party and it was a very busy night so they did well to keep up with us. Iris is a great restaurant and we had brilliant night. Thanks to all your staff.
Great food and service as always
Had a lovely time with great food
Lovely as usual
I have been a fan of Iris for a number of years now and always think the food is brill. Although I enjoyed the lamb shank shepherd pie I thought the mouse topping would be better as mash potato or another veg as it was all a bit too soft and lacking texture - but could be personal preference! The other dishes could benefit from sauce I.e the steak but no waitress recommended this. Ideally families would be better sat upstairs to make dining a little relaxing Finally the return is lovely but every time three front door opens a little cold 🥶 Thanks
Wonderful food and amazing value for money
Fabulous food. Great value for money. 3 courses and large glass of wine equalled £30 and it was great quality.
