About IL Vicolo
Il Vicolo first opened its doors up a cafe & wine bar on buttermilk walk mid October 2011. Serving minestrone, bruschetta by day & Italian cheese, charcutterie and a nightly changing menu offering seasonal pastas, risotto & rustic delights. Also stocking Prosecco, Aperol & Campari and 50 Italian wines!
With only 24 seats and 20 by the glass, it defied logic. Passion, heart and soul all mixed together offering rustic Italian fare, with a strong southern influence. It worked and we spent two and a half happy years on the edge of St Augustine Street before moving to our current location on the banks of the river Corrib, in the basement of the Bridgemills building.
Our menu today has evolved into a contemporary Italian kitchen with a mix of seasonal Cicchetti, pastas, risotto, fish and meat. Our wine list is 100% Italian and now boasts over 75 wines spanning from the north tip of Alto Adige to the boot of Puglia and the island of Sicily.
We are passionate about everything Italian and use the best of Irish produce, local producers and the best exports the Italian peninsula has to offer. With live jazz every Sunday and the trickle of the river Corrib while you eat in the wonderful surroundings of the old flour mill, il Vicolo offers you a unique experience to enjoy the best Italy has to offer on the Wild Atlantic way.
Great service and very accommodating for large groups.
Authentic Italian food. The carbonara was wonderful; as good as any I’ve had in Italy. The waiter from Krakow was warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable. We tired of pub food and this was a real find!
Won’t be making a visit again
Table wasn't ready when we arrived. Had to wait by the crowded bar, no apology. Once we got to the table everything else was great; food, atmosphere and wine
Excellent experience !
We recently enjoyed a fabulous meal for a group of 20 at Il Vicolo. The service from Amanda and her team was fantastic, and we were all raving about the food, the ambience and the beautiful views of the river. We will definitely be back.
10/10 would eat again.
Food was excellent and the service very good with a pleasant dining experience.
Excellent food, fantastic service and cosy, rustic atmosphere! Would highly recommend and will certainly be back!
lovely evening as always at il Vicolo, gorgeous food and atmosphere. Staff are always knowledgable about the menu and I always appreciate the wine recommendations. Mandy is always so pleasant and friendly, she really is an asset as restaurant manager. We will of course be back again!
All round excellent. Amorato biscuit with coffee would be nice and maybe slightly better value wines
Lovely meal and really enjoyed the occasion of our wedding anniversary recommendation of a friend in Belfast
Very nice food and atmosphere and will make sure we go more often
Thank you to all the staff who made our evening so special. We had a double celebration and the staff went above and beyond to make sure our every need was met. We look forward to our next meal in I'L Vicolo
Very good food and excellent service. The manageress was on top of everything even though the restaurant was full to capacity on a busy Friday night. We were told that we would have to sit for a moment as our table wasn't ready but only for 3 minutes. The service was efficient and friendly, the wine and food delicious. We would definitely go again.
We had a fabulous evening (my Mother, 3 sisters, sister-in-law & I) for my sisters birthday. All our food was amazing as always, so fresh and tasty.! And great wine. Thanks for looking after us so well. Il Vicolo has always been something special, keep going x
My friends and I had a lovely evening as always when we call in to you
The gnochi was amazing! I asked and find you have an Italian cook who is superb at making it fresh. The table we had was over the river and we watched a seagull catch his dinner from a rock while we were eating! Also two ducks, a male and a female, were floating in the water. It was restful and interesting at the same time to eat our meal and watch the birds!
Very slow service. Forgotten for 15 min to bring the menu. Difficult attitude when wanted to get a table outside and then if colder and not fully booked was expecting to get inside table which we have been provided but initially been told if we stay outside not allowed to get inside table despite the fact place was half booked. Food was great!! I ve been twice in a week. I would recommend it but service needs to be improved
Lovely and welcoming atmosphere, delicious food and wine!
Great food and wine in a nice place.
Thank you so much for taking such great care of all our clan on Mother's Day. It's a rare spot that will accommodate us with smallies and all. Everyone really enjoyed every minute from the delicious food, atmosphere and fantastic location. Brava!
A great option for a delicious meal in the heart of Galway. Will be back for sure.
