About IL Vicolo
Il Vicolo first opened its doors up a cafe & wine bar on buttermilk walk mid October 2011. Serving minestrone, bruschetta by day & Italian cheese, charcutterie and a nightly changing menu offering seasonal pastas, risotto & rustic delights. Also stocking Prosecco, Aperol & Campari and 50 Italian wines!
With only 24 seats and 20 by the glass, it defied logic. Passion, heart and soul all mixed together offering rustic Italian fare, with a strong southern influence. It worked and we spent two and a half happy years on the edge of St Augustine Street before moving to our current location on the banks of the river Corrib, in the basement of the Bridgemills building.
Our menu today has evolved into a contemporary Italian kitchen with a mix of seasonal Cicchetti, pastas, risotto, fish and meat. Our wine list is 100% Italian and now boasts over 75 wines spanning from the north tip of Alto Adige to the boot of Puglia and the island of Sicily.
We are passionate about everything Italian and use the best of Irish produce, local producers and the best exports the Italian peninsula has to offer. With live jazz every Sunday and the trickle of the river Corrib while you eat in the wonderful surroundings of the old flour mill, il Vicolo offers you a unique experience to enjoy the best Italy has to offer on the Wild Atlantic way.
Thanks for a lovely lunch, we will be back, no question.
We had a lovely meal. Love Il Vicolo, one of Galways best restaurants
Restaraunt was beautiful and service started off great. Food however was definitly not good value for money. Steak was not well seasoned, dry and disapointing. Pasta was plain and overpriced. Asked for peppercorn sauce for the table, got one single serving about 10mins later. Waitress never came back to check up on us or ask at the end how the meal was.
Favourite restaurant in Galway, always a pleasure to spend an evening here. An absolute gem of a place.
Service was quite slow receiving our starters but the food was delicious and I've eaten here before and did not have that problem so I think it was a particularly busy night.
Great atmosphere, service very good, food excellent
Food was great, although a bit overpriced for what it was. some of the dishes you can get for half the price and then same quality in a good gastropub. We ordered a side of potatoes and they were a bit al dente. We dare not complain as the staff we a bit efficacious, but also efficient and clearly good at their job. They could do with a few extra lessons at charm school though. It's a shame if the staff were a bit warmer instead of acting like they were doing you a favour it could be really excellent.
Very pleasant dining experience. One of the best Galway redstaurants.
Had a lovely meal for NYE!! The cheeseboard was delicious! And our main courses were also really enjoyable!
Really relaxed vibe. Love that there is a small bar to have a glass of wine as you wait for your table. We arrived 30 minutes early and were delighted to avail of this. The staff are really friendly and talk you through the menu. The food is true Italian and you won’t be disappointed. Overall a lovely experience. Highly recommend.
Lovely room, friendly staff and tasty grub. Will be returning when back in Galway!
Solid higher end Italian restaurant.
Very happy with the food and the service and atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back again.
We had a wonderful meal in Il Vicolo. The food was delicious. The staff were helpful and friendly. Beautiful atmosphere. What more could you want? We'll be back.
Great venue, very accommodating, great food and staff are totally on it. 5 stars for me.
The staff were really friendly and welcoming and as for the food it was incredible, the braised pork neck ragu in particular. I’d go as far to say that it would be my death row meal.
Lovely staff and exceptional food
Our group had a lovely evening with you. However did think that E14 for the starter was expensive!
Fabulous food excellent service. Highly recommend Il Vicolo and will definitely be going back. The bread was amazing and the bruschetta was the best I ever had. Keep up the great work.
