About Il Ridotto Restaurant
Very nice venue, good food and attentive service
Amazing dining experience with impeccable service and hospitality! Words can’t describe how good the food was! Thank you Il Ridotto for a wonderful lunch!
Food was amazing and the restaurant was quaint. A perfect combination for an evening out with a loved one. Having the chefs, including the head chef(!), come out to explain each course was a nice touch and much appreciated. Looking forward to dining here again the next time we are in town!
This restaurant was delicious! We had the lunch tasting menu and everything blew our minds! Service was impeccable!
I had the five course menu with no meat/poultry/organs. The dishes were creative and audacious in the combination of ingredients and the integration of flavors. Particularly outstanding were the Summer vegetable cerviche, Fusilloni with charred cherry tomatoes sauce, almonds and seaweeds, and the dessert "Ricotta Cheese cold cream, Pistachios and Hot Chocolate". This is a place I would keep coming back to every year in Venice. It is also among my top 3 to 4 restaurants in Venice.
We had the 9 course tasting menu and it was amazing! We loved how the chef came out and explained some of the dishes!
Heel vriendelijk ontvangen, vlotte bediening, prijs kwaliteit zeer goed
A superb experience, great gastronomy, superb attentive service. Highly recommed
I had the 7 course meal. 0. Mussel with creme brulee: This was very good. 1. Cured Sea bass: Also very good. My favorite dish perhaps. 2. Confit tomatoes with burrata and seaweed: Pretty good, but too sweet. There were 2 tomatoes, but I felt done after just one. 3. Carrots in scallop sauce: Very creative dish, each carrot type tasted different, I like this a lot. 4. Tripe with lemon and olive oil: This was honestly bad. Tripe is not very good to begin with, and then it was covered with very sour lemon juice. I don't know why this was served. 5. Egglant with jam: The burnt jam on the thin eggplant was rather tasty. Eggplant had a nice smoked flavor. But the egpglant on its own was tiring to eat. 6. Sweetbread with mashed potatoes and ink sauce: This was served as the last dish. I was expecting to get some type of regular meat or fish. The piece of sweetbreads was huge, the dish too rich and homogenous. I could not finish it. The first bite was good, but again I'm not sure why this was served. It did not work in the menu. 7. Dessert was wasabi(?) ice cream with crumble. I actually enjoyed this a lot, it was very refreshing. In conclusion, I think that the menu was a series of ideas from the chef, but not enough thought was put about the experience of eating them all in a row. After the tripe, I wanted to be grounded back to normalcy, but instead I got one eggplant (whole, nothing around it) and a slab of sweetbread. This does not at all match the quality I have experienced from other michelin star restaurants. I would not return. I paid 110 euros to feel bad and to look forward to the meal being over so that I could go home.
Service parfait, serveur stylé et attentionné. Cuisine raffinée et moderne pour un prix très correct. Un petit bémol, l'enseigne du restaurant est très discrète sur la place SS Filippo e Giacomo.
The biggest problem of this venue is that they have too little of staff to cook and serve all the tables they have. If it’s a high season, it turns to be a disaster! We ordered a simple 5-course tasting menu, but after 2 hours of seating and simply eating bread with our champagne we got only chef’s welcome and only two first courses! It seemed that all the staff in the kitchen and in the restaurant were desperately trying to serve tables with their emblematic 9-course tasting menu and thus having to ignore the rest of their guests. These shortcomings became obvious when – at last! – we got our third course. The pasta was cold! People in the kitchen were too busy to finalize this dish right after the pasta was cooked and when at last they got some time to do this, it was too late. It was the last straw and so we asked for a bill and left the restaurant (forever).
Great service, tasty food, everything you expect. Would recommend.
Excellent tasting menu at lunch and brilliant service with a smile!
Perfect intimate meal with my husband. We had the five coarse tasting menu and we’re completely blown away by the flavors. Thanks so much!
Cucina creativa e raffinata. Prezzi in linea con la qualità. Ci ritorneremo. Matteo
Fantastic meal and great service. Only promblem was that too many (of the other) guest did not realize or appreciate that this is fine dining Michelin style and were rude towards the waitors because the way the courses were served.
Fundamentally the food was good but most of the food was lukewarm or almost cold, which was disappointing. Service was underwhelming- I think you should have done a much better job explaining each course. The level of detail varied a lot depending on which server brought us the dishes, e.g. in some cases we only got “potatoes” or “eggplant”. I think knowing more on what we are eating is part of the experience and we deserve that kind of attention for a €110 meal.
We arrived at Il Ridotto very late and well after our reservation time due to the canals being closed for the festival. The maitre'd was exceptionally understanding, and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us even though they were about to close. The food was delicious, and the ambiance is a lovely balance of refinement without being stuffy. Overall, it was an amazing experience!
Fantastic service. Very warm and welcoming. Lovely food and each dish from the tasting menu was full of great surprises. Highly recommended.
1) Service was inattentive: no one refilled water; was difficult to attract attention to request more wine/ water. 2) Egregious pricing on sparkling water; it was listed as €5 on menu but when the bill came we had been charged €20 for each bottle. 3) Very gaps between courses; our 7 course meal took 4 hours (7:30PM - 11:30PM; I was exhausted). 4) I had dietary constraints meaning I couldn’t eat raw meat - they insisted on imposing the same same limitations/ restrictions to my husband’s meal, which meant we both had 6 vegetarian courses and just one “meat” course with cuttle fish - this was very disappointing as my husband had been looking forward to some of the dishes with raw meats/ ceviches.
Fantastic food and fantastic service
