About Il Posto
Located on the grounds of the Earl of Mar Estate, is the new Il Posto Ristorante.
Within the restaurant and on our decking area, are spectacular views over our award winning golf course, the Kilpatrick Hills and beyond.
Loved the Taste of Tuscany menu, food was exceptional as was the table service. All round one lf the best dining experiences we have had recently. Look forward to next visit with friends soon.
Great food, lovely staff and great location.
I have been a few times and have always been delighted with the staff, food and ambiance of the restuarant, so friendly and mannerly.
Lovely meal yet again. Love the 5pm offers to Il Posto, but would eat here anyway.
Always a pleasure to be at il posto great food and very well mannered staff we just love going there also it has a fantastic view of the golf course👍
Really enjoyed the food
Attended using 5pm voucher. Good was excellent. Staff lovely but place had no atmosphere what so ever. The place looked very clean but there was a very strong unclean smell inside the entrance. It may have been caused by a dirty rug or something else but was horrible. Will try it again as food was good
Myself and my Husband really enjoyed our meal here, the food was great, service was excellent as usual and the atmosphere is just lovely. However the only thing we have to comment on, is the fact we had bought our meal on one of these deal sites, the first time we have done this - which was then a set menu we had to choose from - which is ok, however we felt that the options on the menu were very samey. If you didn't fancy anything cheese or tomato there wasn't much you could have chosen, I was surprised to see there was no fish option at all, and the only other meat option other than a beef lasagne, was a starter of chicken liver pate. Naively or not I had thought with having such a reputation as it does, the options would have been better, even still as a "set menu" choice. That being said, the food was very nice and I would visit again, Though would be wary of buying as a deal.
The food was very good although the portion size of the beef ravioli was smaller than I would have liked. I also felt that having paper napkins and a wipe dry table cloth let the restaurant down. If it is an upmarket restaurant then the least I would have expected was linen napkins and a proper table cloth.
Very pleasant and efficient staff. Good varied menu and food beautifully presented and very tasty. It is a lovely place to enjoy a leisurely lunch in a beautiful setting.
Staff very friendly and efficient
We stayed overnight at Mar Hall & chose to eat at Il-Posto and were not disappointed. The quality & service was excellent and was good value for money.
The younger man who appeared to be running the dining room was very good, very apologetic about the fact we had booked a table for two and we're not seated until 2.35. Also he served a bowl of very dry looking pasta to someone in my party but returned 30 seconds later to take it away as he was not happy with it. Which was good as it saved us complaining and showed he was attentive. He also apologised profusely for the slow service and did not charge us for drinks because of this and the initial wait so no complaints about him whatsoever. The older male waiter did not so much as smile the entire time we were there and never gave my brother a spoon for his soup. Seemed a bit above himself to be honest. In general the food was quite bland, I had arancini served with the tiniest drizzle of tomato sauce. I then had pollo il posto. The description said a creamy spinach and sundried tomato sauce. It was made with fresh tomato not sundried, which offers quite a different flavour. The sauce really just tasted like cream and butter. We appreciated it was busy because it was mothers day but after travelling up from dunoon and given the quality of Mar hall we expected better. Never finished eating till 4pm by the time our order was taken and the food came out so it was almost dinner time which isn't acceptable when you book in for lunch.
The menu was limited and pasta portion size was not big enough
Affordable Opulance with superb service.
We enjoyed our meal staff were friendly the venue was cosy.x
5pm voucher as a gift, was nice enough for a lunch
Keep doing what your doing - it works perfectly.
Lovely meal, staff attentive, but not intrusive. Great value using the 5pm deal. More of them please.
lovely food, fantastic service. looking forward to my next visit
Lovely meal with very attentive and friendly staff. Will definitely return.
The restaurant itself was lovely. The waiters were very friendly and attentive however the food lets the place down. The 5pm deal was £20 each for two courses and a small glass of wine. The starters were very basic and the soup was not hot For the mains there was very little choice, with all options being vegetarian with the exception of lasagne which hardly contained meat anyway. The portion was small and mainly sauce. Every course was topped with rocket which looked like the chef was trying to bulk the plates out to cover up the small portions. We both felt that the food was very basic and everything appeared to have been done as cheaply as possible. This was certainly not worth the money x
Very pleasant dining experience. The best part was the attentive attitude of the staff. Well done.
Had another excellent lunch here and took the kids this time. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble.
