About il Pirata
Trendy restaurant with quirky decor and a casual vibe serving creative, contemporary Italian dishes.
Very prompt and efficient service. Pleasant and helpful staff. Great food.
They lighting is quite bright. It used to have less light which gave it a better ambiance for a date, in my modest option.
The service and friendliness of the staff were second to none. We really enjoyed our evening and will certainly return.
Great food and service. This remains one of my favourite places. Thank you to the staff for being so attentive and also helping my friend with severe allergies.
Absolutely superb. Cannot fault this place at all. Great drinks and the food was excellent. Really really good. Staff were also warm and friendly. We'll be back very soon for sure.
Beautiful food, piping hot and great variety
Food and service were first class. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff and we stayed for a drink after our meal. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely and we really enjoyed our evening. Can’t wait to go back.
Great food and service.
I really appreciated the time the servers took to help me find something dairy free. My mum and I both enjoyed our seafood linguine. Neither of us like mussels but we ate them anyway. It was tasty and very speedy!
It’s been well over a year since I have been here for a meal. In the past the food was always fantastic but this time I wax really disappointed. The anti pasti and pizzetta starters were lovely, but the main courses were a let down. I chose Gnocchi Duck Ragu and my friend chose the beef ragu. I have had both of these dishes in the past from Il Pirata. The duck ragu gnocchi resembled soup.. with some shredded duck in the centre, definitely no resemblance to a ragu sauce. The sauce looked like bovril and tasted like it, salty. There was no depth to the sauce. On complaining I couldn’t fault the staff they were amazing and offered a replacement meal for myself and a freshly made meal for my friend and took the glass of wine and bottle of cider we were drinking off the bill. I ordered Spaghetti Carbonara which is my favourite pasta meal as a replacement dish and when it arrived the pasta was chewy and the sauce thick and stodgy. I know that pasta should be served Al Dente but it was totally under cooked, my friend said his replacement beef ragu was the same. I just hadn’t the heart to complain a second time but was really disappointed with the standard of food and felt like I’d been to some pasta Franchise restaurant and not the il Pirata I remember in terms of quality of food. I won’t be back in a hurry
Really delicious lunch and excellent value, especially the festive menu! Would love to come back
Great food and service! Never disappoints.
Excellent overall experience on an extremely busy evening.
We always enjoy a night out at Il Pirata!
As a group of friends now living across the UK, we chose il pirata for our Christmas meet up, as we have done in previous years. Unfortunately the standard of food here is not what it once was, however we only actually discussed how the food was with each other the next day, as we were preoccupied discussing our main issue with this evening. We were shocked at the poor service of one waitress who began the evening as passive aggressive before becoming outright rude as the meal went on, particularly with regards to our friend's 2 month old baby. We were happy with the response of management when we complained, but are still reeling at the unpleasant atmosphere due to one staff member. Such a shame as this used to be a firm favourite.
Wonderful meal and very friendly and helpful staff!
Gorgeous food great service and a lovely relaxing ambience
Great as always
Good food. Prompt service. Very pleasant & attentive staff. An enjoyable family night out for 4 adults & 2 teens.
Excellent all round (as usual!)
Very disappointed that the festive menu was not available on Christmas Eve - only a limited menu. We had seen pictures of the festive menu on Instagram and were very much looking forward to it. It would have been helpful to be notified of a limited menu on booking. We have been many tines before and the food has always been great but this time the duck ragu was particularly salty. So salty in fact we couldn’t finish it. We did provide this feedback to the waiting staff who explained how this may have happened due to the sauce been over reduced. This may be the case but I don’t think it acceptable to serve sauce which tastes highly salty. We do not normally complain but I was very disappointed with our visit.
Delicious traditional Italian dining, with attentive staff, in a casual, but intimate space
