About Huntsman's Lodge
Set in one of the most unique dining spaces in North Yorkshire, the Huntsmans lodge offers a breath taking setting for morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. With the magnificent fireplace at its heart, and the stunning views of the lake, there is really no better place to relax and unwind whilst at Coniston.
On fine days, our outside terrace offers unrivalled views of Malhamdale and the surrounding countryside, the perfect place to enjoy a chilled bottle of champagne and enjoy some “field food” (our take on Yorkshire tapas).
The food offering is simple yet enjoyable; think home comforts, great local Yorkshire steaks, fresh fish delivered daily and an award winning afternoon tea, our food in Huntsman is relaxed and informal yet served with flair and passion by our long standing team.
Whether it’s coffee and cake with friends, an important business lunch or a family celebration, you’ll be surrounded by breathtaking sights and elegance as you walk into the exquisite new Huntsman’s Lodge.
It's centrepiece, a roaring open fire, draws you in before your attention turns to the glass wall, with the sun terrace looking over the 24-acre lake and far-reaching views of The Dales.

My daughter and I had a wonderful evening to celebrate her 18th. The food was stunning and the staff were so friendly and helpful, we were fortunate enough to be staying in the hotel so didn’t have far to take our full bellies !
Beautiful, fresh, well presented food. Great tasting and a good choice to pick from the menu. All the staff here are inviting and friendly. Beautiful stay
Food fantastic, view stunning, service very welcoming!
My friend and I went for a light lunch and coffee, we had to send the food back as it was cold, we ordered the mushrooms on toasted ciabatta, buttered spinach and paid extra for a poached egg and hollandaise sauce, we also thought it was overpriced for what you got, half a small ciabatta roll, a dessert spoon of spinach and not much more of the mushrooms, the food was replaced with a warmer serving. I noticed some people on another table sent theirs back as it was cold. Disappointing for Coniston.
Delicious food in beautiful surroundings. Service was prompt, although a touch rushed but nothing to complain about as everything was served as ordered. Would recommend and will be visiting again for certain!
Just one niggle. Our party was seated at the first table on the left in the dining room and the draught coming through the lobby was extremely noticable.
The staff are excellent and really helpful, nothing’s too much trouble. The food on the whole is very good with any issues sorted in a timely manner
We just love it here, food is gorgeous, staff always attentive and friendly. Not over priced Brilliant chilling out atmosphere
Food was excellent , however I think the breakfast is slightly over priced .
We had a lovely evening meal on 10 December - four friends catching up. The service was swift and friendly and the food excellent - especially the lamb rump, which was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was good, as always, particularly with the roaring central fire. The weather was particularly horrible - pouring with rain and with high winds. And it's here that I have just one small niggle. Most of those eating had wet coats and there seemed to be nowhere to leave them - at least, we weren't offered a cloakroom or even a hook on which to leave sodden outer garments, so they had to steam quietly on the backs of our chairs. Perhaps something to consider for the future? But, overall, many, many thanks for a lovely evening.
Had a super Christmas meal, lovely food, excellent service/staff and fabulous ambiance in the Huntsman’s Lodge restaurant.
Beer v.expensive ! Great wine list ....
Yet again the Coniston was faultless can’t praise the hotel and especially the fantastic STAFF just the best if you haven’t stayed here what’ are you waiting for book now
Restaurant was beautifully decorated for the festive season. Service was attentive and food tasty. The only blip we experienced was that our reserved table had been given to another couple. We were told it was a mix up and the waitress thought the other couple was us. Really, a simply check of name would have resolved the problem. No offer to resolve the issue we were told to choose another table. !! Not the standard i expected from a quality restaurant.
Super hotel, super restaurant, wonderful views and environment. Food was great value, very enjoyable, filling and very much devoured. Thank you
Afternoon Tea birthday treat for my mother, really impressed with the venue, staff and food. We were not rushed in any way and the staff were very attentive. There was plenty of room in the restaurant but it had a nice chatty atmosphere - good value for money and the view from the window is stunning even on a wet day !
Lovely selection of savoury & sweet (but we didn’t like the onion & cheese tart so much)
Very good service, friendly staff nothing too much trouble for them. Good food of course. Will certainly return, hopefully many times!
We always love dining here, and have always had the best experience. The food and service is second to none, we always request the comfy chairs by the fire so we can really relax! Thank you again team Coniston as always you didn’t disappoint
Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was very good. Thank you. We had a lovely evening.
Always have a wonderful time when we visit. Fabulous place.
A little bit pricey from the menu selection. Not a good value meal but the food was good.
We had a lovely evening. Great atmosphere by the roaring fire. Excellent sea bass with delicious sauce.
Absolutely fantastic food and service, the atmosphere in here is much more relaxed than mcleods. the speed of serving food was fantastic, however, I would have liked an extra 5/10 minutes between courses
