About Humphry's - Stoke Park
Contrasting with the estate's rich history is Head Chef Chris Wheeler’s innovative Modern British cuisine.
Chris has been at Stoke Park for fourteen years and in that time he has made our restaurant into “an experience you want to relive again and again” (At Home with Marco Pierre White) while winning 3 AA Rosettes.
At Stoke Park we are enormously proud of our history, which stretches back for 1000 years, and we felt the name of our fine dining restaurant was an ideal way to honour that.
Humphry’s restaurant takes its name from Humphry Repton, who designed the bridge it overlooks in 1805.
Humphry’s serves Modern British cuisine with a twist, featuring Chris’ signature dishes. Our stunning decor, luxury ambience and panoramic views of the estate and lake deliver the perfect setting for a lasting experience.
A three course dinner menu and seven course tasting menu with wine pairing is available.
Dress code is smart casual from the evening onwards. Smart jeans are allowed but trainers and t-shirts are not permitted.
Please note that children under age of 12 are unable to dine in Humphry's.
Excellent food and staff service.
we came for the Castel Monastero dinner night with friends. Food was fantastic along with the service. Enjoyed the wine additions to the menu for the evening as well. The flexibility to pick and choose between menus made it easy to please everyone. Fun night...will watch for the next one!
Delicious creative food from chef Chris Wheeler. Good attention to service from Miguel Marta & Sebastian It was a lovely evening and a wonderful atmosphere.thanks also to Martk Murraybrown for his overseeing our evening and reservation!
A wonderful, very special evening in the beautiful room, our table was located by the glowing fire, and the elegantly dressed tables and attentive sefivce and perfect ambiance set the scene for a perfect evening.
We had this meal to celebrate collecting our new Tesla model 3 and it rounded off a truly memorable day. The staff were most helpful especially with my wife's dietary requirements until desserts arrived anyway.
Excellent meal at Humphry’s. Highly recommend and would return.
Great place, great food, well prepared, well presented, great taste and good service; what more can you ask for?
Definitely would come back!
Perfect meal for the occasion, would definitely go back.
Amazing food and amazing service from Marta - she is a credit to you
We had a fabulous evening. Both the Food and the drink was astonishing and service was impeccable. Would highly recommend.
Disaster from start to finish , first of all they couldn’t find my reservation ! Terrible service , staff were scruffy and disorganised , food was slow and Served staggered , quality of food was good apart from the cheese which had seen better days , waiter tried serving me a wine which I’d already seen him break the cork in bottle ! The trainee waitress in the bar had more of a clue in hospitality and service than restaurant staff ! Won’t be rushing back , pained me to part with nearly £500 at the end of the evening !
Extremely nice food and very welcoming service.
Very nice atmosphere with very attentive staff.
We had a fantastic time. It was value for money. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a meal on the Saturday evening which we couldn't fault.
I have eaten in a lot of good restaurants around the world and this was the best meal I have had for a very long time. The venison was superb and extremely well presented. Service great and cocktails wonderful.
Having been a member of Stoke park for many years i have seen many changes and regrettably in my opinion not for the better. The moving of the original restaurant from close to the front entrance, to the golfers members bar, now Humphrey's was in my opinion a retrograde step. The original restaurant which i accept was much smaller had far more atmosphere than Humphrey's which due to the high ceilings is in my opinion soulless. When it was the golfer members bar it oozed charm and warmth both of which now have regrettably gone. The bar which is now at the front of the building feels like an after thought and is in no way welcoming, which is part of the reason why after a round of golf we never stay for a drink at the 19th hole. With regard to the food and service , i have to say the service was unbelievably slow and the food was acceptable at best. I am afraid i would really struggle to recommend anyone to dine there. Please note i am NOT trying to be negative about my experience of eating at Stoke Park because i love the course and club house, but i lovingly remember what it was and regret what it has become. You have asked for my feedback and i am trying to be as honest as i can so that hopefully in any future refurbishment or alterations, modifications can be made to reinstate some of the charm that has been lost .With regards to the service this HAS to be improved upon. The slowness of service is just woeful and quality of the food not what it should be. Kind regards, David Rothman, ( A lover of but saddened member of Stoke Park Golf Club. )
This was our third visit to Humphry’s. The last two years meals at Xmas were lovely. This year it all changed. Pre dinner drinks took ages to arrive as did the canapés. Although our meals were very good the service was appalling. We were seated at our table at 8.00 and by 10.15 we had only had two courses. The restaurant obviously had a problem that evening and were so embarrassed that they didn’t add a service charge. All in all a frustrating and not enjoyable evening.
Enjoyable Christmas Lunch, pleasant atmosphere, good service.
Amazing food, refined service in a lovely setting.
As always we were looked after and had a brilliant pre Christmas lunch - thank you to Christian and all the Team.
I enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Humphry’s on Friday evening. The staff were very attentive and made us feel very welcome.I took my 89 year old father who is thinking of celebrating his 90th Birthday with a private party at Stoke next May and wanted to sample the food. It won him over and he is confirming his booking for May next year!
We’ve visited Humphrey’s many times before, and have always had nothing but positive things to say and have sung your praises to many people and recommended they visit you. We brought my in laws for a meal with you along with our eldest son who also has been before and loved the food. This time I’m not sure exactly what’s changed but we just felt that the level of service was lacking, when we arrived in the past we have been taken to the bar, sometimes ordering our food from there usually nibbles of some kind are brought over and we’re called to our table once the food is almost ready where we will be asked if we want more drinks, this time we arrive about 15 mins early as usual, expecting to sit in the bar area, and instead we get taken straight to the dining room, where there was a lot of backwards and forwards between staff about who we were, they couldn’t find the reservation to start with ... then taken to our table and ignored for a while, we eventually order some drinks, and are given menus and asked if we have any dietary requirements, father in law needs a gluten-free diet so informed the waiter, who went off and brought over 2 gluten-free rolls. Some nibbles were sent over after we ordered food. Our starters arrive, meanwhile we were still waiting for bread rolls for the rest of the table and had to eventually ask for some only to be told “yes of course you can have ‘more’ bread rolls” ..... we’d not had any ! A minor thing maybe, but shows the level of care and attention we received. We were never asked if we wanted more drinks, we had to flag down a passing waiter each time, and therefore only had 2 drinks. Our water was only topped up at the very end of the meal. There was no time for the waiters to chat at all which we’ve always found in the past adds to the whole experience and makes you feel valued and welcomed. All in all we left feeling really disappointed .... the food as usual though was top notch and no complaints there, but your double measure spirits are the smallest I’ve ever seen ! Not sure we’ll be rushing back any time soon. Which I’m really disappointed about.
