About Humphry's - Stoke Park
Contrasting with the estate's rich history is Head Chef Chris Wheeler’s innovative Modern British cuisine.
Chris has been at Stoke Park for fourteen years and in that time he has made our restaurant into “an experience you want to relive again and again” (At Home with Marco Pierre White) while winning 3 AA Rosettes.
At Stoke Park we are enormously proud of our history, which stretches back for 1000 years, and we felt the name of our fine dining restaurant was an ideal way to honour that.
Humphry’s restaurant takes its name from Humphry Repton, who designed the bridge it overlooks in 1805.
Humphry’s serves Modern British cuisine with a twist, featuring Chris’ signature dishes. Our stunning decor, luxury ambience and panoramic views of the estate and lake deliver the perfect setting for a lasting experience.
A three course dinner menu and seven course tasting menu with wine pairing is available.
Dress code is smart casual from the evening onwards. Smart jeans are allowed but trainers and t-shirts are not permitted.
Please note that children under age of 12 are unable to dine in Humphry's.
We’ve visited Humphrey’s many times before, and have always had nothing but positive things to say and have sung your praises to many people and recommended they visit you. We brought my in laws for a meal with you along with our eldest son who also has been before and loved the food. This time I’m not sure exactly what’s changed but we just felt that the level of service was lacking, when we arrived in the past we have been taken to the bar, sometimes ordering our food from there usually nibbles of some kind are brought over and we’re called to our table once the food is almost ready where we will be asked if we want more drinks, this time we arrive about 15 mins early as usual, expecting to sit in the bar area, and instead we get taken straight to the dining room, where there was a lot of backwards and forwards between staff about who we were, they couldn’t find the reservation to start with ... then taken to our table and ignored for a while, we eventually order some drinks, and are given menus and asked if we have any dietary requirements, father in law needs a gluten-free diet so informed the waiter, who went off and brought over 2 gluten-free rolls. Some nibbles were sent over after we ordered food. Our starters arrive, meanwhile we were still waiting for bread rolls for the rest of the table and had to eventually ask for some only to be told “yes of course you can have ‘more’ bread rolls” ..... we’d not had any ! A minor thing maybe, but shows the level of care and attention we received. We were never asked if we wanted more drinks, we had to flag down a passing waiter each time, and therefore only had 2 drinks. Our water was only topped up at the very end of the meal. There was no time for the waiters to chat at all which we’ve always found in the past adds to the whole experience and makes you feel valued and welcomed. All in all we left feeling really disappointed .... the food as usual though was top notch and no complaints there, but your double measure spirits are the smallest I’ve ever seen ! Not sure we’ll be rushing back any time soon. Which I’m really disappointed about.
Wonderful service, great food. Particularly impressed by the young maitre’d
Atmosphere in the bar is like a morgue and the restaurant lighting could be much improved. Our starters were delicious and my wife liked her Hake but my partridge was overcooked and therefore dry and the venison, though nicely pink, was, at best, chewy and, at worst, tough. My wife`s pudding was lovely but my cheese disappointing with little contrasts eg. no blue cheese. At the food and wine prices I expected better and would not be able to recommend you to others. Service, however, was excellent throughout.
Excellent ambience and service, and food was delicious. Superb way to celebrate a very special family event.
Maitre d'/ waiter was absolutely charming - perfect!
Thank you all for a lovely evening, the service was friendly and attentive, the food delicious, all in all a very enjoyable evening!
All three courses tasted good and was presented well service was good the table we had was a little close to others but nevertheless well worth a visit
It’s been a good evening. The food was very good with the in betweens. Will definitely recommend the restaurant to friends.

Outstanding food and service as usual. If you want to feel special this is the place to go.
Thanks for a fantastic dining experience with excellent food and service. can't wait to dine again with you.
Fab Location, wonderful staff very polite and courteous. Lovely evening, beautiful service etiquette. Will definitely visit again and have no hesitation to recommend. Worth every penny
Starter brilliant - Michelin star atandard Mains- quality excellent -"less is more !" spring onion/ shallot, redundant - ooked wrong on plate. Dessert - outstanding - again Michelin star. Overall a wonderful experience - including very professional bar man.
Went to Humphry’s to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The food was delicious and exquisite, the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. It was a fabulous evening, well exceeded our expectations and I would definitely return.
My daughter treated me to an overnight stay with breakfast included and we also decided to dine at Humphry's on her recommendation. We both enjoyed our food and also the little samples which kept coming in between courses which was a lovely, personal touch. The staff couldn't have been more attentive. All in all a lovely experience which I would recommend if you are looking for a special occasion.
Lovely setting and wonderful staff however we were disappointed. The quality of the dishes is inconsistent: some are good, others barely average. When you charge such premium, I expect each dish to be above average.
The meal was lovely. However we had our 8 year old son with us and we were told he could chose from the children’s menu or have a small portion from the adult menu. He chose from the adult menu but was given an adult portion and charged for an adult meal, twice what I was expecting. Service was slow. Our water glasses were not refilled unless I asked repeatedly. I think my husband was meant to get a gift but did not receive anything.
Outstanding as ever. Superb food, complimented by exemplary service.
